Im using Mame32 plus 0.90, how do I play people online?
Under the file menu: “Play Network Game” or “Kaillera for Netplay”. If it doesn’t have those options, then the version is not netplay enabled.
If you like using Mame 90, you can get the netplay enabled one on DTZ:

Most use 64, but if you tell people where to get it, they might try another version.
Is there any way to make kaillera run better? Right now its too damn laggy to play anything…
What’s your connection, and if you’re on a home LAN, is anyone else on it?
Try to get to a server you have the lowest ping to. If no one else is on it, try to invite people from popular servers to come play you at your closer one.
Make sure absolutley nothing else is trying to access the internet. Messengers included, as some of them have ads that auto-refresh.
If everything’s closed and you still have game-stopping lag problems, try a spyware check and virus scan. Then get a program like Netlimiter to see what programs are trying to access the internet (if any). When running kaillera, turn this off, unless you’re just checking throughput and not playing serious, it could add to your delay.
Try a site like http://testmy.net to see how your internet connection speed is comparing to your ISP’s average. If there’s a problem and it’s NOT on your end, you may have to take it up with your ISP. Good luck though, since 99% of them don’t care about ping, packet loss and max throughput. They only care if it’s actually connecting or not.
Run cmd tools like Ping and Tracert to see how your ping averages out, and how much packet loss occurs. The problem could be overstressed or crappy routers along the path, outside of the control of you AND your ISP.
It also could be the server you’re trying to play on is overstressed, poorly configured or on a bad connection itself.
Half the servers nowadays aren’t that spectacular anyhow…just an observation from playing for the last 3 months.
Doesn’t make games unplayable tough. But yeah be sure and kill messangers if nothing else. I used to run aim while online but i found out tthat it was lagging my connection and it got better when i would just exit it. Sometimes lag just happens for no apparent reason as well.
I can play my games offline, but when I try to load them online it says I don’t have them…any idea?
What’s the deal with auto frame skip? Does this effect Kaillera play? Should both players have the same setting in reguards to this? Just wondering since I assume the inputs are tied to frames for most fighting games.
Srry nother noob question.
Since my comp can’t run mame smoothly, I have to use FB Alpha Combo. It runs smoothly, but does it only play CPS2 games? All the other games I have on Mame do not show up on FB’s rom list unless it’s a CPS 2 title.
Also, do people use this program online? Or does it suck for online?
this is awesome! i have been trying to find a way to play sf online with a friend of mine… he doesnt have xbox and i cant find an online mugen patch or anything. but this will work just fine! n.n sf alpha 3 online here i come! though i have to wait till tomarrow when i’m home to download and set up and play… >> but this is awesome n.n
This is a very good thread idea. I have some problems.
-When I’m trying to play a network game, it says that I do not have the roms that require parent roms (SF2: HF & UMK3).
-After I connect to a server. Then what do I do to play someone?
for HF to work, you need (I think CE) or is it WW?
For UMK3, you also need to have MK3. Look up the parent roms for whatever games you’re trying to play.
I should have been clearer.
I can play HF and UMK3 on my Mame emulator, but for some reason, they are not available for network play.
I also have a problem.
When I go to startup a game, and the game loads great and all, but when it goes to play the actual game, the screen looks like this:

Okay, so, I’ve tried getting MvC, and XvSF and basically, I downloaded both the main rom rile and then like, the supplement file or whatever, and they still won’t run on my comp… Same problem with Vamp. Hunters 2… I got Savior 2 to work, but Hunters 2 won’t… is there some parent file that I’m missing? Or will I just never be able to play these games?
If this type of talk is forbidden on SRK, maybe someone could get at me on Tricky Steeve (AIM), with a possible solution?

try deleting your mame config file. it’ll mean resetting your directories, controls, and refreshing your roms and all, but it’ll reset all settings to mame defaults.
