I guess I’m just blind but looking through this thread I still cannot find the ports that MAME uses to get online. I want to play it here at work but because I’m going through a double ISA firewall I have to know exactly what ports need to be opened and if they are TCP/UDP.
News:
MAME32 0.115(Offline MAME) now supports Capcom vs SNK and some NAOMI games.
They don’t work though.
Hopefully we will be able to play NAOMI games in a close future.(AKA Marvel vs Capcom 2…)

Those emulators(client side) should work through most nats and firewalls unless specially configured not to. As far as they are concerned, the client sends out packets to server first. Also the ports it uses are system binded. So unless you are willing to patch things up(I didnot say nothing)…I mean…know how system allocated port(by generating random numbers or tossing coins or whatever…) you might like to think about application specific configuration entries.
And well, if your gateways dont have a direct route out of your local subnets…kaillera doesn’t work through proxies.
ps…everything outside getting server status remotely and downloading master server list in kaillera is UDP

everytime I play Samurai Shodown 3 or 4 the graphics are all messed up. I’m using mame 32k 0.64. What’s up?

only reason I use the crappy mame32k 0.64 is because that’s what everyone else uses online, why the hell can’t they upgrade :annoy:
I think you can use clrmamepro to fix the ROMs hehe.
It’s easy to use, so I think I’ll not need to make a tutorial.
Oh, and they will not use a newer version of MAME because of a certain desynch problem(Or something like that, I can’t remember)in newer MAME32k versions.

Random Q. I notice that people can type messages which come up in the top-left corner of the game screen. When I type, nothing happens; even when I minimize the window and try to put text into the chatting box, letters don’t even appear there. What am I doing wrong?

Does anything come up or is it all white? Somewhere in options there’s a place to change font color and the background color to it.
‘home’ is the default chat button on the new mame.
Up until today I had been using a Mameplus to play offline and try out classics. Today I just noticed this topic and downloaded Mame32 .64 linked in the original post. The problem is that even after I did an audit on my games, I still can’t see a number of games in the list even though they are in mameplus.
For example: I have KOF 2k2 in mameplus, but in the version I downloaded today it isn’t even on the list, in either available or all. In mameplus I had Metal Slug 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and X, but in .64 I only have 1, 2, 3 and X in the list.
It isn’t that the games don’t work, they simply aren’t in any list.
different romset? Does 0.64 even have the drivers for the latest metal slugs and kofs? Are you sure you are using the version that says “hacked to support more games?”

I don’t know, that is why I am asking. Though this thread seems to imply that KOF2K2 can be played on Mame32k 64.

I did just download the hacked version that supports more roms and it also doesn’t seem to have KOF2k2 in the list of games when I run it. I don’t really care too much about Metal Slug 4 and 5 not being in the list, it was more about having some examples.
…different romsets…they might have different CRC hashes than the one 0;64 recognizes…you should try getting the set recognized by 0.64 and you’re all set.
whenever i try to log into kaillera netplay i get a “not working now…:)” message.
did i get banned or do i have some kind of virus from poking in and out of rooms?
you clicked part of the client that isn’t working. only you can’t see it cos you screen is glitched.
I just got the 0.116u3 version of MAME plus, but it didn’t come with the Kailerra client built in. How do I add it so I can play games online?
Edit- It seems they released a new version today with Kaillera built in. I’m good now.
