The Beginners Guide to MAME

Dumb question: Is there a way to slow down the games with Mame? Like to the effect of holding pause down in kawaks.

You can try underclocking the CPU, hit tilde then down until you see oveclock CPU 0 and 1, and turn it down to what you want it. I think CPU 0 matters more than CPU1.

Is it possible to watch 2 other players play something like Vampire Savior instead of you while on Kaillera?

I seems people didnt see my post :frowning:

"I dont really understand. If you download MAME 32K 64, I can play online right away, or do I have download something else? Somebody told me I have download something Kaillera related.

Sorry If I sound like a total noob, but I am really new at this stuff.

BTW, how is the traffic for Mark of the Wolves?"

@ G.O.T, yeah you can join as the 3rd person and spectate. The host can also rotate players around with F5, so for instance you could play the winner of a match.
If they’re worried about lag though, they could always record and send you the replay.

@ Eduardo, As long as you have the kaillera.dll (mame32k won’t start without it and most places that distribute 64 include it) and some games you can go play online.

Ok I’m trying to run Mame112u3, not Mame32k. I’ve downloaded the source file, the binaries and the update http://mamedev.org/release.html.

I installed the source file and the windows command-line binaries (I686 optimized). Need to know:

  1. Where the hell do I unzip the update to?
  2. When I start command prompt got to the folder where mame112 is and run mamed, I can’t seem to get a game loaded at all. The standard command line is (ignore the square brackets):

mame [game name] -[option]

But it says that “mame” isn’t a recongised command.

What the hell is going on? Plz help!

sweet.

I installed the thing and I can run Marvel vs. Capcom just fine. But I tried playing Garou and it doesnt run :frowning:

Download MAME32.:wonder:

–needs neo geo bios–

The reason why I wanted to know how to run Mame is because it gets update more frequently than Mame32.

They don’t have compiled binaries of the updates? Because it sounds like you need the 112 source (or 112u1 since apparently it had big changes), then have to use the update source to patch THAT, not the binary, and compile the whole thing.

Mame32 has a compiled 112.u3 out now it seems -

DDEmeMamejp is only up to 112.u2 -

How do the SFIII series of games play on Mame?

It’s dumb, dumb, dumb.!!!

SFIII needs 20.000Ghz of cpu power to run !

Read the files !

:open_mouth:

Jesus Christ!!!

Ok then, but dont get mad at me :frowning:

Ok, I was just joking.
But everything about CPU power is true.

I’ve already DL’ed a couple of ROMs from a site. When trying to load the zips, it says that I’m missing some files, and the game can’t play (example: Alien vs. Predator).

…Is the answer I’m looking for is to simply search again for a more complete file?

ROM sites that update their dumps are probably removing XORs, because newer Mames no longer need them. Since everyone on kaillera uses older mames, you have to find the XORs separately I’m afraid. (can’t say where on the forum since it’s against the rules =/ )

Is there a speed button like on zsnes for MAME offline?

Does anyone know what version of MAME supports Samurai Shodown VSP? I have MAME 32K and it doesn’t support it.

think the term you are looking for is “frame skipping.” You should be able to increase frameskip to make it emulate faster.
