I’m waiting on my pair to come in the mail now, I wasnt even thinking of getting new shoes until you popped into this thread! (LOL)
Anyway, I took a day/morning off today from balling. My arm probably is thanking me for it (as it is still hurting…I need to get it checked out)
Does anyone lift weights and ball? I was thinking about going to the gym after work to lift (just to get my normal M/W/F schedule still in tack) but hurt that you shouldn’t cause it messes up your shot
Advice?
I need to make a basketball shoe purchase for this year’s court-tearing; which should i get? (WARNING: they’re not all that top-of-the-line)
I prefer the Navy-colored variations, and I plan to customize them too…

I think lifting weights before you practice shooting is a good thing. Of course, when you shoot, you’ll be REALLY SORE and it feels like your jacking up 20 pound balls, but the next day and the day after, u’ll be shooting better. At least from my experience and the lessons from Kobe Bryant. His daily schedule = run in the morning, LIFT WEIGHTS, practice shooting, then run some more.

I’m a staunch advocate for Gil Zero’s, but I like them so much, I don’t even want to play in my pair (I have the all white, low cut TD kind). It takes a bit of getting used to with the extra cushioning at the side, and I just wear those for fashion.
Also as a side note, I sprained my ankle bad a few months ago, although I have recovered, wearing Gil Zeros for an extended period of time, will agitate it a bit.
Other than those things, I think Gil Zero’s are an excellent shoe, although I’d never play ball in my pair.
as far as buying bball shoes, just get the cheapest ones that feel good on your feet. i don’t fuck with payless or anything like that, but you can cop anyone of those joints on sale at eastbay and you should be good.
right now i’m debating copping another pair of the questions (i have one pair that i wear casually) to ball in or those $30 and 1 joints bcuz from my experience and 1’s are really light on your feet.
I’ve been walking around school with some three-year-old Adidas shoes, and the undersized state of them are causing blisters, so my basketball-specific shoes are now my everyday walking shoes, and I must buy new basketball shoes this week on Eastbay.
I procrastinated till now because I had no incentive, but now pre-season Open Gym is starting for the school team and I have to run cross-country to condition for it; running long distances in shitty-ass shoes is a *bad, *bad idea kids…
if you’re gonna run XC you should get some cross trainers, running distance in bball shoes is tiring as fuck.

Got the Hyperdunks…OMG these shoes are fuckin’ GREAT! Light as hell, but give great ankle and foot protection! Only problem I have it taking them off cause they “hug” your foot SOOOO tightly
I lift weights before ball, and it MAJORLY fucks up your shot, especially if you work out your triceps. You start to totally misjudge the amount of effort you need to get the ball certain distances.
yeah i’ve only lifted before balling once and i was overshooting like a motherfucker…but kobe does it and he’s doing ok so idk lol
i got some old ass and1’s that look exactly like that.

Still balling, limited though cause of a high ankle sprain (those fuckin’ suck) but playing twice a week. I’m also coaching 13-14 year old rec. team.
graduation + inclimate weather has put a damper on my balling. not having the school gym to hit up whenever is a big loss.
I havent balled in like 3 weeks. Just been mad busy lately… I might play at my gym today since im off. Depends how i feel really…dudes be hacking dumb hard at my gym.
