I don’t disrespect GTSouth or anybody that plays fighting games there or anywhere else in Alabama. When I made my posts I personally felt disrespected that they just put their event on a friday without even talking to us, I probably would’ve just been cool if they pm’d/called/emailed me or Raph and had a discussion about it, and if they still wanted to put their event on that day that would’ve been cool. I overreacted, I’m sorry, but I personally felt disrespected that they didn’t even talk to us or ask around about what goes on friday.
And I understand that some people took another thing I said the wrong way. When I said that it wouldn’t be a real bama tournament with Raph or Nice1 there, I meant it wouldn’t be a real tournament without EVERYONE there. I thought y’all knew me well enough that I didn’t have to spell that out that I respect you guys. It honestly really fucking hurts me that you would think otherwise.
I would never do anything to disrespect any of you on purpose.
Check stream performance on another PC and confirm that audio levels are good. Grab an audio mixer program to make it easier to adjut on the fly. xSplit is apparently kind of ass for that when you have multiple views set up.
Might have to grab an external mixer/amplifier for the headsets. I think hooking them up via Y-splitters reduces the signal too much.
Grab an HDMI-to-component converter so that the TV feed only has to pass through 1 device instead of 2. Right now the console has to pass through 1 splitter and 1 converter before it gets to the TV, and while I don’t think any of that equipment lags to a significant degree it doesn’t hurt to reduce potential points of failure. It would improve picture quality for the players a bit too. (Alternatively, just stream on 360, as it can do everything neatly through HDMI. : P)
Try to get someone on the mic and updating player names when possible. I’m usually a bit too preoccupied to keep up with match-ups and scores most of the time.
Spread the stream link around a bit so that we actually get some viewers. If any of you guys want to set up a GTSouth-specific channel on Justin.tv let me know.
Thanks to everyone who gave me a hand with this. Should be nothing but improvements from here on out.
If you want i can help out with the commentary/updating player names, is there going to be another league next Friday?
Just trying to be as helpful as possible.
shit was mad fun tonight. I wanna thank GTSouth for hosting a dope event, sixfortyfive for providing the stream, and everyone for showing up. I haven’t had that much fun around here in awhile. It felt real good to know that we have a really good scene around here and plenty of people that want to play. With AE being this hype I can’t wait to see how crazy Marvel is gonna be next season.
I’m probably going to drop by tomorrow since it seems there are no events elsewhere in the state this weekend. Might bring my stuff and just tinker with it if they let me.
I need to grab enough footage to cut a short ~30 second promo video. Already got the music picked out.
That’d be cool. I’ll probably drop by anywhere from 3 to 6 PM and stay most of the evening. Just depends on when I wake up, haha. Looking to get some actual play time in for once.
GGs and great turnout for the first week of GTS League Play. Had way too much fun. I’m pretty sure my team(Team N.V.S) is dead last in point standings right now, but you wouldn’t have guessed it as hype as I kept it. LOL!
Shotouts to 645 for running the stream last night. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to get on the mic last night. The way the setups were running I didnt get a cahnce to get on cuz I ended up playing.
Shotouts also goes out to Mike and Jason of GTS for holding the event. I feel like the old days are comin back for the Gump and i personally wanna thank yall for that. I did wanna run one idea by yall though. The way yall had the set ups last night were good, but didn’t give alot of time for people to get on the stream. My suggestion would to run two set ups for the league play and maybe one or two set ups for practice/warmups during league play. Now I realize that yall have had long day by the time we all get there and yall be ready to leave but I figured it would be an idea as far as allowing people to scout out comp, geton the stream mic, or get those extra warmup games in if someone showed up late.
Thanks again for all support in the Gump Town scene as well as the Bama scene in general. The monsters are showing there faces more and more now and its making this an exciting time to get into games. Hope to see everyone back on September 23 for Week 2.
Well looks like we had a great turnout for League Play opening night. Saw some old faces and new ones alike. It was a lot of fun to be able to do that for you guys and gals. Sept. 23 will be the second event of 8. We still have room for other teams to enter the league. Its not to late cut off is the 7th of Oct. So if you had some friends on the ropes about playing let them know that you had a great time and get to the league and play. The rankings are up. Mike worked on them last night so thanks Mike for all the hard work you have done with this. If you were a bit rusty please come up and practice for the next event.
Yup great idea and we agree, we have been soaking everything in and will make improvements, this was a new style so just a few kinks but overall we feel everything went pretty smooth. With 8-10 teams this will be no problem, as it grows through the seasons we’ll probably have to change it up from just 2 stations to stay in a 2 hour window but it will be doable. I was about to post the match-up schedule but am redoing it to accommodate this as well as making a couple changes to the site that Justin Wong suggested. <— Woot our first namedrop as a company he said he’ll be swinging by sometime next year.
Thanks to all who came we truly appreciate it and look forward to the teams returning on the 23rd.
