If I were back home, I’d probably put Papa John’s higher. Not above Mellow or Marco’s, but still higher… The Papa John’s here is pretty ass though. They put ENTIRELY too much sauce on, and even when you order “light” sauce and get a half decent ratio, the pizza itself just isn’t very good. Their cheeses have next to no differentiation in flavor too.
If I wanted a “different” kind of Pizza I’d definitely look to Mellow though. OO & Garlic base for the win. Only reason I’d still really put them below Marco’s is because they’re expensive as hell, and I can’t ever find a half decent coupon for em.
The very best Pizza I’ve had came from a hole in the wall place while I was in NY visiting my fam, don’t recall the name of the place, but quite frankly one thing the south will never beat the north at imo is pizza making. Whole different class of pizza up there.
P’zones are pretty good btw. I used to get em all the time back when you got em free when ordering from Pizza Hut. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get one, but the P’zone is probably better than their pizza actually is (at least in Auburn). Better ratio of “stuff.” Extra cheese at our Pizza Hut = normal amount of cheese at every other Pizza Hut I’ve ever visited. If you want Pizza Hut, go to the one on Opelika Road. It’s a good 4x better.
And fruit on pizza, or hot fruit in general (room temperature even), is a sin. :nono:

Hope everything went well at the tournament yesterday in Montgomery. Sorry again I couldn’t make it.
First things first. Many thanks to everyone involved in making yesterday’s tournament a pleasant experience. I managed to meet and play with some of Alabama’s finest folks and Super Street Fighter 4 players, and I was able to get some tips, techniques and tactics to practice for the next time around. Good stuff all around. Also, thanks to you Mike, and all the staff of GT South for organizing and hosting the get together afterwards. I intended, but didn’t get to trade PSN screen names with anyone, though, so I’ll start putting mine in my signature for some SSF4 games online.

this tournament was a LOT better than i expected, i’m glad i went even if i couldn’t enter this time. i originally didn’t even plan on going because I had other plans but they went away at the last minute, i would’ve missed out i think. I plan to support these events in the future though.
pleasure to finally meet some of you that i’ve heard of or played online like Serin, Tadd and Jedd (did i get those names right, my bad if i didn’t). good to see a much bigger community in this part of bama than i thought.

come by our apartment in auburn on friday nights! we’re willing to share our knowledge and play tons of matches and shit. bama needs more matchup exp, that’s what decides everything and what fucks us over when we travel out of state. we have people come from columbus every week, and there’s a ton of people that travel from montgomery or selma every so often so y’all should get to get together on that, get people’s phone numbers and shit. there’s a scene in bama, we just have to come out and play each other.

I want to show love to everyone that was at the tourney last night. It was my first one and I didnt do too bad. It was cool to come out to bama from ATL and feel welcomed. It was cool to hang out with old friends, Meet folks that Ive been playing with for years on xbox for the first time and making friends with folks Ive never played with at all lol. Hopefully, Ill see everyone at the Birmingham tourney because I plan on be there.
Had mad fun yesterday. It’s always good to get up with the Bama crew not only to play games, but also just to talk with everyone. I appreciate my boy Nati coming down from ATL to play and also doing good in Marvel considering it’s his first tournament. GGs, to Rocky, Nice1, Raph, Mikuru, Serin, and everyone else I played. I agree with Thomas on the fact that matchup experience is definitely something that we need more of. The organizer was saying that next time he run he would be open to more fighting games so if there is anything else that people would like to play, let it be known.

Not a big MK fan myself, but I know Nice1 and Skitz would be happy with the next one having MK9.
I think having Black Ops on top of fighting games was a great idea though, because about the same amount of people showed up for it as did for the fighting games, so I’m sure that there was a bit more cash to be made by the tournament directors. More money for directors theoretically equals more tournaments, so we always want that.
Plus Black Ops was in a seperate area on 360, so none of us had to worry about any issues with the players or the (ahem) wireless controllers.
I agree with Anotak though, other than that unfortunate indecent, it was a great tournament, easily as good as Revival. I would say I would rather go to Montgomery to tournaments (which is true, it’s less than half as far), but to be honest I’m probably still gonna go to Revival and Montgomery AND Birmingham now, so good shit. Three tournaments a month plus people coming over on Friday means we all get better, and that’s what it’s all about.
Toomuchdamage, Dickslicer, ATLRedd, and Pokchop aren’t the only people around here who are good players, I wanna see more Bama players get top 16 at majors as soon as possible.
I’m looking at you CEO 3 and Final Round 15.
Who knows, maybe AL will get its own major one day if the scene keeps blossoming like it is and people keep showing up for locals.
