I know, right? The real question is who pays attention to it and takes it seriously? lol MK’s story was pretty beast though. MK1-UMK3, atleast. And KoF has a pretty cool one, IMO. Anywho…yea I wanted to go see that Tekken movie too. It’s showing in Tuscaloosa. Oh and WumpusKing, Bham has a prety legit one from what i’m told. Tuscaloosa also has a randomly good scene.
Unfortunately, there’s not one. It’s been a tumultuous process to build a scene here, mostly because there are two players who are ridiculously better than anyone even close to this area. People got tired of these two people always taking the money, so they stopped entering tournaments. My solution was to make a free tournament, and then make it swiss so people won’t go two and out. I know it’s kinda lame, but it’s just temporary as we’re trying to build the scene back up. We’ve had nothing for so long that pretty much all of us just want some competition again.
Hold on who are these two people? also thats no good that people would just quit becuase they kept on getting the dick. Then again I dont what the problem is but how about you just do like weekly casuals instead instead of a tournament?
It says there is a $5 dollar entry fee though? How can you charge entry and not have at least a pot?
EDIT: Also that sounds like whiny bitching too me. The point of a scene is to progress and get better, you need competition to make that happen. They should train with each other or learn from the better people. I agree that you should just have casuals then and not charge some kind of entry fee. I am not paying to play with no chance at winning something.
in auburn we have a player nobody can beat and we just dont have tournaments very often, we just have a whiteboard ranking and people challenge each other for spots and shit
Yea, I don’t know what your scene is like there, but that kind of sucks if people decided to stop entering because two people kept winning. That makes it sound like they don’t have the drive to want to get any better.
That’s not me charging $5, that’s the game center charging $5 to let us play there.
We tried weekly casuals for awhile, but that dwindled down fast and everyone kept saying they would just make it next week. Also, random casuals didn’t really excite other people to start playing.
thats understandable man, I would love to go but thats a trip from where im at. Then again who were those two people?
Tadd and Jedd. They’re brothers. You may know them if you ever use to play at the mall in Dothan or if you went to GTSouth
Gtsouth? The tournament Maurice won?
yea we call em the dothan cats. One play rog and the other plays honda?
Look yall should try to get a lil bit more of a loyal circle of people who want to get better instead of just quitting when things arent so hot.
Yeah, Tadd plays Honda in pretty much everything and Jedd plays pretty much everyone.
We’re trying to get more people to stay loyal. We have a few people that stick around, but that’s it, and a lot of people that would be here regularly live out of town and it’s not easy for them to drive in all the time. The problem with people IN Dothan is that skill level here is really really low, so they get discouraged easily. We haven’t figured a way to get them to keep coming back and actually WANTING to get better, but we’re hoping that Combo Breaker is the start of that.
Just an inquiry about the sessions at the Deep in Huntsville.
Are yall playing on PS3 or Xbox or what? I will definitely try to make it on July 21st the day I actually get off the plane and back home. If there is a low supply of sticks I will buy one and donate it to whomever is running the sessions. Do they have them in Madison Square or Parkway. Let me know.
I just need a slight refresher in some Tekken cause I know I am going to go 0-2 at Evo. I just want to make sure I half way tried when I go. Need to remember some combos and whatever.
See yall soon, tired of this damn Iraq heat, but I heard it was hot back in H’ville. FML!
We play on both, it depends on who brings what. There’s never a low supply of sticks, usually, but hey get an extra anyway; dunno if any are in town though. There’s some guys still playing Tekken so you can definitely get some time in with Tekken.
Also if things go as planned we ought to be starting a Danisen league for AE this week at the Deep, so guys come out and play some AE!
Ah. Well we/the scene should try and host it else where. I really want to host some locals when I get back in Troy at my trailer. I planed to do a small pot to dish out prizes. Not sure if I can get it together but I’d love to.
I’m trying to get back to that. I’m running Combo Breaker just to get people playing again, and the response seems to be pretty good. If I can get people coming to just play, I’d LOVE to run an all day tournament with $10 entry fees to make a pot and whatnot. If people from out of town are interested in coming into Dothan for a bigger tournament, I’m all for it.
Guy: So…that’s Jin’s dad?
Me: yeah
Guy: why do they hate each other?
Me: well Kazuya lost a portion of his devil gene to his son and he wants it back and I think he has to pretty much kill Jin to get it and Jin’s mad cuz he got the devil gene in the first place
Guy: Devil Jeans? So they’re fighting over a pair of pants? I wonder if it’s like that time I went to Western Hillls mall…
Me: How about you just leave now?
lol that was quick.
THING IS…GET THIS…I’VE SEEN EVEN DAIGO LOSE SO…
I admit, when I saw Tadd & Jedd at GTSouth, I pretty much came to the conclusion that they were going to be a huge problem for a select few that day. I don’t mind driving up to Dothan…it gives me something to do on a Saturday, but the only driving force for me not going is that there is no Arcana Heart 3 being hosted. Oh well, I might stop by anyway just for the hell of it but would be nice to see that up there. Might ask Skitz if he wants to go as well just to see how things are over there…who knows, might run into the 2 Bros while we’re at it.
Might be able to give some pointers to people whom are willing to learn as well. It’s not much but from my opinion, the only way to help the scene over in Dothan is to get others to come and find those whom are willing to learn and get better to pass on the knowledge to them.
And damnit Ralph, those Luther Burgers…oh gawd, the smell of those things got me when I got home that morning and I felt sick to my stomach. I don’t know who’s idea was to make those things but I’m sure glad I didn’t eat one. LOL!!
Yeah, I’ve got sticks. Just let me know if I need to bring an extra.
