Seeing as you previously played Cammy aswell she makes a really good pair with Asuka she has really good footsies not as good as Ryu but if you land a raw cannon spike tag cancel you can do st hk xx oni st mp xx oni sweep this will does do 453 damage or for an easier combo just do st hk xx oni st mp mk xx falling rain sweep for 447 damage and playing with cammy you are going to hit a raw cannon spike for reversals out of pressure or anti airing also if you anti air with cannon spike you probably could do st hk xx oni st hk xx oni / falling rain sweep since they juggle way higher when AA with cannon spike cant really remember stopped playing this game for weeks now lol.
Asuka is so fun and probably the character I’m best with out of the lot. But I can’t seem to effectively use her super at all. I know it’s not necessary, and most of the time I’m better off tagging my partner in and using their super instead, but it’d be nice if I could figure out a good way to use her super so I don’t always need to rely on my other character or a cross art or whatever.
I mean I am doing fine without using her super, but if I know I could use her super effectively then it’d be a nice thing to fall back on.
Also, there are times when she just seems to do nothing when I try to do her specials, but I think that’s mostly to blame on a bad controller or the PC version having poor compatibility with the pad I’m using rather than me just being bad.
9 days late but eh, I find it really easy to sneak in Asuka’s super since you can use MP > LP xx MP > LK Tekken chains as a nice long and easy hit confirm, I also believe that’s the most damage you’ll get from the Super as well (after j.HP). Same goes for Cross Arts
I’m currently running a Juri/Asuka team and every time I play I’m compelled to switch Asuka for Hwoarang because he just seems better in every way. Are there any merits in keeping Asuka over Hwoarang?
EDIT: After some thought I decided to stick with Asuka. I just don’t have fun playing with Hwoarang plus Asuka with EX is pretty good.
On a side note. Does Asuka have any moves that stuffs Grabs after forward CADC besides EX DP in a corner?
I found my team.Rite now im running Raven/Asuka. Im really loving this team and their synergy.
Since the game came out, I had been running Asuka on point with either Lili or Law as my second (Tried Marduk briefly but that wasn’t working out). I always played Asuka first because she’s my favorite character, but it dawned on me that she is better with a character that can get in (on point) and tag her in to get her in. So now I’m trying out a Ken/Asuka team and it’s working out pretty well.
When Guy is released I’m going to attempt Guy/Asuka. None of my favorite SF characters made it into the game, but I used to 2nd Guy so we’ll see how that team works.
I strongly advise agaisnt putting Asuka on point, she’s just simply not designed for it.
Is there anyway I can get in with Asuka without jumping? It seems her limbs are so short, her normals would whiff in a chained attack.
Yeah that’s one of the biggest problems I’m having with Asuka right now.
There’s b.mp which has nice range but unfortunately the mk follow up whiffs at the range you would want it to hit the most. I’m hoping they are going to buff the hitbox on that.
Other things I try to do to get in are HP/EX Exorcisor vs fireballs and her counter. Counter can blow up people at midrange. Especially footsie characters that like to throw a lot of pokes like Bison, Chun Li, Steve, Heihachi and Julia. Only problem is the risk vs reward is not in Asuka’s favor at all. A counter does 170 damage but if they don’t press buttons, then you can eat a cross-rush into 300+ damage.
I don’t have that much experience with Asuka yet (only picked her up last week) but I can definitely see why people consider her bottom tier.
Tbh, I think Asuka is really underrated.
Her upclose game is really good, she has safe hitconfirmable chains and can deal a lot of damage meterless and 500+ with 1 bar, j.hp is pretty ambigous.
I’m not saying she’s an amazing character but I don’t think people are giving her enough credit.
Put someone who’s strong on point to cover Asuka’s poor neutral game and stay on them when Asuka is out.
True I don’t think she’s that bad either.
She’s kinda like King but stronger imo but weaker than a character like Heihachi.
She does have a scary pressure game…somewhat, but I played Asuka a fair bit along with Lili and ended up keeping them on reserves for tournaments. After you fight your way to get in, Capcom REALLY made her too focused on playing an awkward yomi pressure game rather than how she was in the actual Tekken. I’ve played a decent amount of players with her and even those who continue to main her, and we kinda agree that there’s not a whole lot of point or uniqueness to her pressure game that someone else doesn’t do better. Her high-low is pretty fast paced, the normals kinda keep them guessing at close range along with the grabs…but I think some of the Asuka players around my area just kinda want something that defines her UNIQUE pressure game compared to the others.
Well, that could’ve been worded better…but yeah. The main reason I continue to practice with her is just out of character loyalty at this point.
Everyone is getting tweaks in the roster, so maybe Asuka will get something good.
I’ll be happy if they changed normal air grabs or dragon wheel kick’s hitbox and whiplash toe kick’s hitbox
Anybody find changes yet? Changes to Asuka might lead me back to replay the game.
I haven’t noticed anything, I don’t think they changed anything with characters that isn’t listed.
There’s minor changes to the whole cast, but some are hardly worth noting. Characters with re-stand capable moves got tweaked (ala Steve lvl. 3 and Bryan Gatling Combination tag in.) Haven’t found anything for Asuka yet. Raven got stealth nerfed badly. x3
How do you punish Bryan when his super misses? He creates a cap between you and him.
You can dash st.hk xx ex oni > cr.mp xx oni > cr.mp xx oni > cr.hk
Hang in there man. Since launch i’ve been practicing with Asuka more then playing with her. A few months later and i’m finally reaping the benefits.
