i agree with the stuff you say but if she’s first what are you using to open them up or get in?
I feel like i don’t know what to do with her in the neutral kind of game so i’d rather have another character get things started
then bring her in when i’m close and then she can start oki games but i also haven’t played a match yet all training mode so far

If it’s a zoning character like sim then I usually do the switch, but if it is a rushdown oriented character a good counter usually puts you in a position for oki games. For approach she doesn’t have too many good moves, which is why I take a more patient approach to get a punish or counter in. Although, your reasoning is pretty good as well. I will try to see if putting her second will yield better results.

actually i didn’t even really think about matchups but that would make sense especially if the other character can’t handle being rushdowned very well so it would make sense to have her in there first, gs.

I don’t even think it’s worth using meter with Asuka right now within combos. She looks to be a more complete character now. You can save bars for a finishing combos or actually anti-air shit using ex air grab. And EX sweep throw is pretty damn good too.

EX Air Throw can also catch some dashes since they are airborne.

Agreed. She has amazing utility from meter, but her combos don’t need it unless you want to do the 3 meter cross super. Thinking of putting her with someone who can use meter really well or just a general heavy hitter. Marduk’s right now my anchor, we’ll see how that changes with time

Right now I’m using Juri. I may switch to Chun and see how that works out.

Any work on what the range is for Falling Rain? I am hitting after cancans the j.HK,s.MK, and I have to usually do EX Falling rain to catch it. Suggestions?

It’s pretty small, but possible to do a normal FR after the s. :mk:
I’d just get the s :HK: xx :hcb: :HK cr :hk: down; it’s not that hard and does more

Juri does have the benefit of having a high-damage super for when you combo to cross art.

I feel like I’ve just about gotten my legs with Asuka in this game, but my Jin is such a mess. I wish I could just play Asuka right now because I’m basically playing 1v2. I like Jin, but he has it so much worse on defense and he’s going to need a lot of practice to use power stance correctly. Median Line Destruction is a nice switch-cancel to Asuka though, she gets a free jump fierce.

Thanks to whoever posted the backflip juggle after hopkicks, I tried it once before and thought it didn’t work but now I realize I could walk forward first. It does barely less damage than the jump roundhouse combo (although scales it more if I want cross art) and most importantly it works from lower height, like after a cross rush.

I dunno who decided Sonic boom should hit moves that duck hadokens.

I agree it does more, but just as a reference for air, since it is an air throw, where does it hit.

It hits fairly high vertically but not too far horizontally. The main reason for difficulty landing the regular version in a combo is when the normal pushes the enemy away from you.

Did anyone check to see if she can do anything against rolls? I remember in Cross Assault Mike Ross was grabbing people whenever they tried to roll past him, can she sweep grab them (or at least the ex one since that one hits low) when they roll?

Rolls are fully invulnerable and they have no recovery. If you predict a roll, ambiguous jump back fierce is probably your best bet.

One thing i’ve been dying to know.

How the hell do you play footsies with this character?

You predict an attack, counter it, then give them a 50/50 on wakeup? Use your long range command grab? I’m still working on it; her biggest weakness is getting in, but once you are in then you’ve got a character built around canceling into that cancan

Does Asuka have any mids? Also I just found out that cr. hp crumples on counter hit lol. Sweeeeet.

Make it uniform for every subforum then, I see the Juri one and others with gimmick names for their threads. I’d hate to be the only thread that got changed to a regular one. If you’re going to enforce this, make it across the board.
