Demon slayer (on its own) I haven’t found a real use for. It is slow, has no invincibility, and doesn’t crush lows. Wheel kick I dunno I haven’t tried that yet.

I am running Rufus on point right now. If I have 2 meters with rufus (easy with onslaught gems) and get them anywhere near the corner with 520 or less life they are dead.

Divekick -> HP -> EX Tornado ->[Depending on Spacing you can do far roundhouse or fragrance palm x2] -> HP Snakestrikes -> Tag Cancel to Asuka -> HK -> Falling Rain -> Cr. HK

Ridiculous damage, not hard at all to do.

QCB + K special - Tried all four versions with various timings and nothing seemed to work, at all. All it does is hand a free counter-hit to your opponent.

Dragon Wheel Kick (towards + LK cartwheel) - This isn’t actually too bad. It has to be done early to hit the opponent clean out their AA attack and there may be follow-ups but I didn’t mess around with that. If it trades it’ll probably be in your opponent’s favour (the attack only does 60) but it hits them high enough that you can at least dash up and initiate pressure, which stops them from jumping at you again.

So it may be a mix of cr.MP, Demon Slayer and early jumping attacks, depending on match-ups and whatever. Or maybe someone will find something else.

ok Asuka is definitely gonna be annoying to use just for the fact that she’s free to jump-ins. Just played a few matches and it seems that 70% of the matches I’m just blocking coz jump-ins are hella braindead in this game. Against characters like Heihachi or Kazuya thats easier said than done coz you’re gonna get tagged for sure -_-

How did he do trial 20?

The move before the dash is her supercharge move, so he’s supercharge dash cancelling there.

I can’t remember if it was said in this thread somewhere or if I heard it on Cross Assault but I just remember hearing that’s how the trial was done. x]

I’m thinking of having Asuka/King as my initial team for the game before replacing King with Cody (and also having Cody/King as a substitute team). People who have the game have any thought on how viable this is going to be?

OK GUYS I REALLY WISH I HAD KEPT UP WITH THE GAME MECHANICS THREAD. Sorry if this is a slowpoke post.

Normally when you do LP-MP - HK with Asuka you can chain only cap it off with EX specials. However, you can do normals off of a chain starting with LP-MP by using her character-unique chains. I think this is significant because anything done after LMH is scaled horribly and I like my meter putting in work for me.

So this is my new meterless BNB:

LP -> [MP -> LP] -> [MK -> Down+MP] -> Upkicks -> J HK -> Cr. HP

It’s two unique chains within the basic chain skeleton. Chain-ception. This combo doesn’t do a whole lot of damage (276), but it builds half of a bubble of meter and I assume it will satisfy the requirement for any gem that activates after 5 hits.

i haven’t been following the mechanics thread either
but hows the timing with this combo anything with tight timing
and in the corner can you add more and still keep it meterless ? (i’m not even sure if it’s worth not using meter in the corner so i’m asking)

It’s all one big chain. No linking whatsoever unless you count the Cr. HP at the end as a link in which case it’s easy. In the corner after the upkicks you stay grounded then
Standing HK -> Falling Rain -> Cr. HK

Do you end up cornering yourself if you use Falling Rain in a corner combo, or does the opponent remain cornered?

They remain cornered. Falling rain slams them away from the corner first then back into the corner. And then you kick them while they’re down.
