See all the vids and comments I see on this thread are combos and setups, which is good and very helpful, but the main problem with my thor is getting inside from full screen. My friend Ben like humiliated me just by defeating my Thor only using weskers gun. Everything I tried to do was shutdown by him teleporting full screen and shooting the guns. I know about super jumping in and using an assist to cover me, then using mighty strike. But in all seriousness, anybody that is adept at the game can see that coming and easily avoid those tactics. . . .is there anything that you guys suggest I do? thor really doesnt have a good projectile cuz most ppl can just duck under mighty spark and it starts up really slow. So my only option is to rush in, and lol all people do is runaway and then punish the attempts I use to get in. Any help?
normal jump, use an assist to take the gun and pester wesker with l.mighty spark. Its a tough match but you don’t have to eat the gun, jsut advance smart not obvious.
You are going to have to be patient, you can also shoot him with L.MSpark or super jump/fly dash and Mighty strike on him. Or if that match is killing you just switch it out to one more favorable.
You have to start using Thor’s flight dash. It’s been posted for a while but all characters with flight mode can air dash like 4-5 times before their flight mode ends (except Sentinel). Of you do a regular jump before flying then you can call out assists while you’re doing that. Depending on your team there may be some annoying things you can do to him while you’re flying. Tell everyone your team first, it’s not a one on one game. There may be an assist you should start playing…
ok well my team is magneto/Thor/super skrull and I have lots of combos with them and they have pretty good chemistry. idk I haven’t tried the flight dashing but with the characters I’m using there is no assist that can allow me to get inside. magnetos disruptor is what I use most of the time but it’s too fast. unless I time it perfectly it doesn’t really help, and super skrull’s tenderizer is pretty much mainly used for combos and not really helpful when closing space. But then again there should be some way thor alone can get inside, right?
Not really. MvC2’s tier list is similar to 3’s in the sense that there are characters who are definetely stronger then others if you don’t factor in assists. Sometimes though a character’s placement goes up dramatically when assists are added because the assist covers a major flaw the character has or allows them to run a scheme that turns out to be dominant. If you already like playing Magneto then your answer should really be to keep Mags in as an assist for Disruptor and use that as an opening to go to the sky where Thor is faster anyway. From there (assuming you’re flying) you could either be throwing out sparks while Mags is throwing out disruptors or you could be doing aerial m.strikes to counter them trying to out projectile Magneto as you call him in as an assist. If you’re using strike then you’re moving towards them anyway and even if they block you the move puts you at like plus 13 on block. If they don’t push block you then congratulations, you’re inside and you can start doing whatever you’re going to start doing. If they do push block then I’d tap Mags assist again right before doing a heavy m.smash…which is plus 9 on block. Rinse and repeat. It doesn’t work on all characters all the time but you get what I’m trying to say. He can get in you just need something to cover his approach and it sound like you have a good thing already. Disruptor’s speed is a bonus…
oh I never thought about it like that. This team is still pretty new cuz I used to have iron man and akuma in place of Thor and skull, so I guess I need to still learn some techniques with them. Thanx for the help epps, once the hackers are done stealing all of our information, I’ll definitely add you on psn and we can get some matches
:l:mighty hurricane is ideal for resets, unless they’re expecting it then it would be best to use mighty hurricane.
The reason behind this being is that :l: version is the slowest to activate (5 frames), you can be hit out of it, but it has the largest hit box, in the air that is the best since your opponent isn’t always in your face and might be slightly above or under you, especially in the case of resets. That being said, :l: might take the longest but it can catch them anywhere up close, and it means that by the time you input mighty hurricane, your opponent has most likely already recovered.
might hurricane it the next best option a slightly smaller hit box, but activates faster than the :l: by 2 frames, making it a better option against anyone who tries to mash on recovery against a mighty hurricane reset if they see it coming.
:h: version of mighty hurricane, activates the fastest 1frame, making it mostly ideal in close range grabs on the ground, usually as reversals in gimmicky situations. Like at the beginning of rounds, other than that it has an incredibly small hit back, making it harder if not useless to utilize as a reset other than in the corner.
I hope that helps.
Like Blade said its just easier to time and more likely to land, you can probably land the M version in the midscreen resets but the timing is harder. Same applies to the corner resets but you can also use the H version, except for the auto correct MH ofcourse, that one has to be L.
and no the extra input on the MH is not needed, i just had to put the stick on my lap this time since i had to put the recording equipment on the table (well i say recording equipment but its just my phone rly). Dont usually use the stick that way so might have messed up some of the inputs.

A short little video I made
Nice combo vid.
I wound up on the stream at the Break lastnight for two matches. I think my best fight was off screen, I’ll probably start bringing a small camcorder with me from now on. Anyway YouTube - The Break Weekly #106 - FR - Julius VS [TSF] Ramon and YouTube - The Break Weekly #106 - W1 - Julius VS Damian . Went pretty much like the last two I posted. I play a random guy, then play one of the really good ones. I never get a happy medium, lol
nice, gotta hate the dante + felicia unblockable set up >.<
btw why do you keep trying to juggle with st.L, S with tron? seems like it whiffs most of the time, and in the first match i think you were doing the J.S a bit too late after the mighty smash. Other than that ggs, sentinel drones rly is a great assist for thor, almost makes me want to put sentinel in my team.
I dunno, I was just playin bad with Tron in general. As for the jump s, I think you’re right about bein too late. I wanted to try it though because it looked solid the few times I did it at home. I’ll be on it next time. A few people told me afterwards that pushblocking actually makes it harder to get out of the Dante+Felicia setup and Damian’s timing as just off. I’m learning Wesker now, if I have to fight that again I’m just gonna match Dante against Wesker and hope to beat him to the punch. Wesker/Thor/Sentinel is gonna have to be my answer to that. And Sentinel, he gives me openings to tri-dash and fly dash so the skies become a nicer, safer place, lol.
i think that cross over counters might be a good way to get out of that dante+felicia setup, Thor’s mighty smash should work well since you’ll get a combo out of it.
I’ll try to recreate the scenario in training and see if it works. To my knowledge though, the move doesn’t have any initial invinsibility. Also if it’s perfectly timed you never get the chance to use it because you’re never in blockstun. I’ve seen it done to other people, it was just the first time I personally had to deal with it. Also lookin back at Tron…I really should have just canceled into lunch rush after a landed drill. I had Dante and Akuma. After an X-Factor into anything they both would have died. Live and learn I guess…
I don’t really play online, I mean even when PSN was up but random gatherings kinda just…happen, so I’m gonna start recording them.

In the second video at 8:05 how did you land mighty punish, wasn’t he still in hit stun from cr.m? Or did you wait for him to recover from cr.m and then go into mighty punish?
It looks like he waited for the c.M to end before doing the mighty punish. It doesn’t look like he cancelled into it.
