Im posting some match I had with a good Seth player… lag was good this time. He outplayed me.

Couple things I noted which I think you could work on.

1 . Anti-air. An opponent should always fear jumping in on Ryu but that Seth player was jumping in on you for free. Always be ready to anti-air even if the opponent hasn’t jumped all round. It isn’t hard to react to when you’re always looking for it.
2. Hold your ground. You spent a lot of time walking yourself back into the corner, when perhaps if you weren’t going on the offensive you’d be better off holding your position. Once in the corner he was just mauling you!
3. Try ending your hit confirms <cr.l.p,. cr.lp> with combo enders such as cr.hp>tatsu or crl.p, cr.hk. Tatsu will push opponent towards the corner whilst cr.hk will give you a hard knock-down - from which you can mount another offense.
4. Mix it up. Your second game was better as you started adding thows into the mix which initially caught your opponent off-guard. Try tick throwing more or empty jump throw and mix it all up so he has to guess what you might do next.
5. Try to avoid throwing full screen ex-fireballs.Even if they hit they dont do much damage and you’d be better off saving 2 bars for fadc>ultra - especially given hoe often he was jumping at you.

Thanks Frank thats some good advice.

In previous matchs he stopped jumping so much so caught me unawares and would dive kick in front of me to bait the DP so he could punish me. So I switched to cr.HP.

I spotted #3 yesterday and knew I should have hit him harder when I had him in the hit confirm, I guess I started cruising on auto-pilot mode.

I should also have swept his stretchy arms although im not sure how risky that is especially online. Anyway im gonna work on that Seth match up some more.

You also jumped in at him quite a bit, if you hit him from a decent range with your 2 crouch jabs just end it with sweep, but if your at a somewhat close range you can end it with cr.fierce into tatsu…i play anemic’s Zangief alot, you play on PC?

Yeah, I took some of your advice and played some mirror match with another Ryu. After the first game he never jumped in on me again.
