"The answer lies in the heart of battle." Ryu Video Thread

Well, art did use EX yoga fire the last time. That’s 6 frames faster in total duration, or 3 frames faster than ryu’s regular hado. If he didn’t do that, I’m sure he would have been forced to block that last jump-in.

It also slightly helped him in that non-EX yoga fire dissipates before it reaches the end of the screen. This helps in starting the next one earlier than it otherwise could have.

I suppose ex yoga fire could have a little more recovery. But who knows what other balance that would throw off. This stuff is hard.

which japanese tournaments have you watched this year, as in the 10 months into 2010, which daigo has entered and lost? i can only think of 2.

as a matter of fact, exactly which tournaments in SSF4 happened in japan?

saying he has never won a single SF4 tournament in Japan is not only wrong its just straight trolling :). its funny how someone trolls another thread - then someone believes it - then posts it as fact in another thread :). the old telephone game.

hmmmm… didnt daigo’s team just beat EG at the Nagoya Street Battle? didnt they win that tournament?

considering that his peers - guys who really know how to play this game - like mago, uryo, tokido, momochi, etc… have stated in interviews that they think daigo is the strongest, he probably is the strongest.

of course that doesnt mean he is God and will win every tournament, but if you are betting straight up, put your money on daigo.

BTW, who put sabin into loser’s at evo2010 anyway?

Edit: NM, it was lamerboi’s guile. I should have remembered that.

Team tournies don’t count he got carried. And Tokido Momochi and Kindevu said that Mago was the strongest. The interviewer even said “what about Daigo” and Tokido said he was good but Mago is better.

Sabre SRK (Cody) Vs Luken27 SRK (Ryu)

Uhhhh, tell me how I am.

Good shit.

I hate given other ryus advice because I usually can only point out things I’d miss too. And I can easily be less solid than many other ryus. But here goes.

Choi: When I saw you connect with that c.mk XX hado at the end of round one I prayed that you’d pull an FADC combo off of it. Should’ve been able to connect a c.hk. But might not have been worth it. Otherwise not too much to comment about. Footsies can be hard.

Sabre: You blocked a very punishable light ruffian at 1:22, but then just stayed blocking. I am disappoint. 1:56 Dangerous cancelled max range c.mk Bingo’d. Ouch. 2:30 if you can block it, you can usually dp it. (Not that I’d be necessarily brave enough to try either. Although I should be.) Just after then you blocked two zonk knuckles. First one seemed very punishable with a quick sweep. And then a training room combo into ultra? That couldn’t have added much… Maybe lk tatsu, super? Or just mp dp and back off with full super meter? I still do shit like that sometimes, so I probably shouldn’t talk.

John Choi understands the rock, paper, scissors aspect of the game well. He saw me whiff punish him in the beginning of the round and he understood that, that is what I was going for. So you can see he just starts walking forward. He also understood that I wasn’t going to jump that much so he just start throw Hado’s all day. I missed anti air’s, and I could have whiffed punish more than I did. Why the hell did I jump at the end of round one? Because I got stupid desperate. Your right I should have FADC the low forward fireball, I need to think about that more. You should have pointed out everything, that is what I need, I very much appreciate the advice though.

Sabre is a great Cody. I need to go into the lab to figure out what I can punish, especially since I’m working on a new match up thread. I didn’t know that it was that punishable although I was punishing it first round. I baited his Bingo by doing c/fw, while buffering DP to see if he would do it, but I messed up. At the end of the match was stupid the way I wasted the meter, I find myself doing that sometimes. Once again thanks for the info.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! OMFG I just spent like an hour watching your vid and posting a reply and the focking comp died. Seriously?! SERIOUSLY?!

k; DISCLAIMER : im not perfect either, this is intended to be constructive criticism, Luken himself will be more than happy to read it so no one be a cock and flame, thanks.

Firstly, dont respect a pro, they expect it. Theyre presuming theyre gonna win, show them you dont give a F**K and will lay into them if you get the chance whether theyre daigo or a 1 handed blind midget.

urgggh… alright imma have to give you the jist of what I said cause i havent got time… shiz.

Ummm… awesome C.FK but put pressure on, no reason for you not to.

throw FBs, youre Ryu

his jump was very presumptuous (thinking cause he threw a FB you would. Hope you took a mental note of that I know you used a feitn, but watching the vid in slow mo it looked like he jumped b4 the feint.

again 0 pressure on wake-up. Think Valle would tell you to ‘rush that shit down…?’

youre allowing him to control the FB war. Thats a huge disadvantage in mirror match

F.FP C.LP Tastu… ?! Seriously? tatsu was for space, right? Whats with the C.LP?

F.FP > FB?! Seriously… step that shit up. This is where you choked btw. You played dumb for the rest of the round because of this (no offense)

EX SRK… why?

Youre starting to use way too many FAs. Mix it up. Hes gonna pause after his C.MKs cause youve used so many. use that pause for a F.Fp and enter mix-ups.

Jumping VS John Choi : the simplest form of suicide

alright this is where I was before I lost the previous message, ill do it properly from now on

ROUND 2

I dont have a clue what was with the missed SRK (came out as C.MP. what input you using?) and then LK tatsu?.. youre lucky he didnt punish that.

fucked up after crumple FA.

Jump VS LVL 3 FA… hmmm… its a nasty situation, but jump aint the right answer IMO. Just OS from C.MK to tatsu, dont think you can whiff and get punished. … could be wrong but makes sense in my head (but my heads filled with insanity, so interpret as you will

2:02 : It was very generous of you to stand still and allow him to kick you straight in the head .

2:10 : I woulda OSd throw /C.MP at a random point in his walk whilst holding back. sure, he could potentially SRk you, but if you pick a random point the odds are against him.

2:16 : I love the fact that he blocked your F.FP and you SRKd anyway, thats genius (that sounds sarcastic, but im being 4 real)

2:22 : Did you get wood?

ROUND 3

2:31 : watch your spacing, seriously no reason for you FB from there.

2:35 : you can punish whiffed C.MKs but not C.FKs? Presuming you werent in the zone at that moment.

2:37 : stupid EX FB.

2:52 : were you anticipating F.FP with that sweep or something?

3:12 : You mistimed that backdash bait and then did it again. If you mess up the timing of the first one you might as well attack him after, he knows youre baiting and is very unlikely to SRK. You could used some mix-ups even though you couldnt take the damage or a SRK. Hell, I know its not perfect, but its your only liklihood of winning at that point.

Lol, you tore me apart on this one. We were on the SRK Live live stream, and I felt pressured. Plus the fact that he beat me first round, Pool A of Evo 2010, made me feel even more pressured. The EX SRK the first round was supposed to be Ultra. Oh and the F.FP lp tatsu was just a plink (Double plink). I very much appreciate you taking the time to dissect my matches, I will make sure I am more aware of what I’m doing. Your right wayyyyyyyy to much focus.

What exactly is it I need to work on most? Wake up game? Anti Air? Mix up?

you dont need to work on as much as I do. Mind you its a mirror match, I havent watched the other one. Mirrors are my worst.

Your AA is solid, your ground game is pretty solid. For me you need FBs, better mind games and more mix-up.

oh and I didnt mean to tear you apart, I was just taking note of you telling theli he shoulda said everything he thought.

I’m glad you tore me apart, it’s exactly what I needed. Especially since I play on going SoCal Regionals. I will money match Sako or Gamerbee.

Pretty good matches between R.Hart and A.Sanchez, Ryu vs Rose.

aMjTC2Wkm1o&feature=player_embedded#]YouTube - TS Sabin [Rose] vs Ryan Hart [Ryu!

Don’t know if it was posted yet. It’s interesting to see their inputs.

nice ryu luken but you got to start using fb’s more you seem pretty scared to throw them. I noticed that in both your matches vs alex vallle, and john choi, you let them control you with fbs.

some new matches from me against my boys ryu, if anyone has any advice to drop, i would much appreciate it.

(he fuckin wrecks my shit in this match, you would think this was a ryu combo video…)

^ thanks for posting them. Nice play from Ryan, though I have to say, he didnt really have to do anything amazing to win.

I don’t like ryan hart one bit, I think he sucks.
