mistake
youre the man Ranix. Thanks for this and for the option select info… I’l probably have to fight the same guy on Wednesday (its generally the same losers final every week),… if I play him, ill try to incoroporate all the tips, and may post another vid too.
Check it out I scraped a win against a G1-A Ryu! This is the highest GP Ryu I have ever beaten. Though I’m sure it was a one off I’m still pleased.

Misa (Sa) vs ? (Ry)

This is how to fail at capitalizing on openings ( @2:04 and @2:53 ).
You do realize he is utter crap, right? Also GP ? Skill.
terrible ryu player…
he could also have AA the last jump mp…
that sad to see a ryu lose this way, and tthe worst is that punishing is not even the part that make you winning or becoming master. it s just a small part of a good ryu player have to work on.
small etails, always the same small choice change many things.
even if he didn t use super the fact tha he use ex tatsu make him loose the super option… a small tatsu after a cr hp would have a t least give hime some room and some posibility to finish or put presure because of the super…
I think from that distance an empty jump would have been safe, and the fact that Misa inputed the mp at the end of the jump made it very difficult to read.
Unrelated funny stuff, know the range :

only because as soon as sagat jump ryu walk back, if he just not move and shoryu he will at least have trade especially against an jump mp attack( so free ultra…)
second video, playing footsie against gouki is really hard, he walk faster and have a longer range sweep… but king of funny moment. ryu sweep will have touch I think.
Oh my god ! 65k and still spam lp shoryu for no reason ???
thanks for watching,
any advice?
Mainly better footsies and using option select jump ins on her. There were a few times where Chun whiffed sweep right in front of you without being punished. Sweep them back or walk forward cr mk.
The Viper match was just all around bad but you’re new to her so I won’t comment on anything specific.
So I went to a tourney last night and was in two different events, a singles and a 3vs3. Anywho, I landed 13th in the singles and got 1st in the team tournament so I thought I’d post the one match we do have up here.
This is me vs Reach. I manage to squeak out a 2-1 win. Although, I should’ve been able to do this 2-0 but completely dropped the ball on the final round in the first match. It’s shakey as hell for the first bit so sorry for that but enjoy!
PS: Yes, it’s Akuma but this forum is still my home.

I hope I can get some vids of me in the 3vs3. I was really kicking ass the first two matches… shit the third guy on our team didn’t half to even play until the grand finals! So I hope I can get my hands on at least one more of me. My 3rd match was against a Chun/Blanka player and I barely managed to beat him. I actually ended up getting knocked out of the tourney by the only Seth player in the whole thing.
The most clutch Ryu ever:
Kuma, your akuma is real nice man…You had some links in your game that maybe needed tweaking but overall you had a excellent akuma.
I like the way in which you used your EX bars to cancel your DP and dash back…
In your regards to your links, I was referring to your first (maybe second) match where you hit him a couple of times with c.lk hit confirm but didn’t follow it up.
Also, you could have used the sweep a couple of times at the end of tatsu to set up untech knock downs and really mix Sagat up.
Although you used Akuma’s beastly s.HK very well and hit his focus’ with it for big damage was good.
Overall I think your game with Akuma was very solid. Good stuff.
Thanks dude. Appreciate the kind words! Anyone care to give me some advice?
Well, you missed a few links, but who doesn’t? The only thing I was wondering was why there weren’t more Demon Flips. Maybe it’s not prudent against the type of Sagat you were playing?
A fireball spammer is usually the one to take advantage of with that, though. I watched this yesterday, so I can’t remember if that guys was the spammer type. Good stuff, other wise.
post the video in the akuma thread if u want more feedback.
Akuma was solid, you wasn’t trying to over do it. You should demon someone next time they try to focus your sweep or a round house.
Some things I caught (dont main AKuma though so could be wrong)
-
Youd score a successfull jump-in and follow with throw rather than combo for bettr damage, at which point youd also be able to reset and continue pressure.
-
youre risky as fuk with far s.fk… that Gat could hav countered those pretty easy (they werequite obvious and you didnt combo thm or mix-up)
-
you didnt use c.mk to counter TKs (does that work with Akuma?)… uner pressure you fell apart and didnt know what to do … Actually, this is true of both players. When either of you had omentum, you were fine, without it, you were lost. Surely you can teleport or SRK (with bar) or something to get out - duno what AKuma’s options are
-
Youd do c.mk, hed block it then you hit sweep. That was really good to begin with, but he shouldhave caught on quikly (you were kinda spamming it) … try to change that up so you’re one step ahead.
-
He’d FA jump-ins and youd stay in crouch. Just SRK dat mafacka.
-
You didnt really presure much on knockdowns. I dunno whether this is intentional because of Akuma’s low healthy, but you could mix-up a bit more. or at least make it look like youll attack and maybe bait a TU.
-
Sort your area out. Fucking cameraman was shit and youre playing on a tiny TV on top of a cardboard box. This aint th 90’s. Da fuck?
Finally: I dont wanna say too much, cause your opp might not have a stick and so suck at tournys (like me!!!) but he wasnt very good at all. he mashed buttons (can tell cause youd be in blockstring then pause and hit him). He hadno idea how to deal with your pressure. He did some dumb ass ultra from way too far. Hmmmm… actually… the more I say the more he sounds like me playing on a stick ( I fucking SUCK on stick cause I dont have one) so Ill leav him alone!
youre akuma’s quite good, but personally I dont feel like youre taking advantage of enough of his mix-ups and mind games (which is one of hs strongest points) and you seem to rely on a few basic moves. A btter opp would punish the fuck out of you for that (dude could quite easily have countered s.fk into TU FADC Ultra… and yes, I know you could cancel to ultra, but you never did so it would ave been worth the risk).
Thanks Paul, I trusted you would give me some advice… Second tournament… if I lost I was OUT so I was a little jumpy. No excuse but I was.
-
I didn’t think the jump in would land. I was pretty sure he’d block so I was surprised as hell when it landed… was gunna throw either way. Yes, I know… it needn’t be said.
-
Hahaha yeah. I don’t normally play like that but I saw he was getting mixed up by really simple stuff after and wasn’t trying to TU me so I said I’d run it until he stopped doing it
3)Yeah you can use cMK. And yeah I was being pretty cautious. I was nervous after the first round where I got beasted for free and then got perfected so I was definitely in turtle mode and hope to find a place to block string. I wasn’t teleporting… not sure why. Good call.
-
Right. Good call.
-
Right. Good call. Working on this one… wasn’t reflex yet.
-
Sorta intentional, sorta that Seth Killian “critical breakdown” I was winning more or less and didnt wanna challenge him with a meaty when he “could” TU me. Play it safe and pressure more or less safely.
-
Hahaha. It was in a nice place at UBC but… I dunno, I got nothin. That was ghetto. Hahaha. One guy thinks he can run that tournament by himself AND a smash tournament (weird fucks) on the side. Yeah… Haha
Thanks brotha British!
