You hado a bit too much from unsafe ranges, he got a few jump-ins because of that. You also didn’t srk to get out of some pressure situations. His Honda was very aggressive, it’s a good bet he’d have gotten hit by a reversal srk during some of his offense.
You got mixed up a bit by the sumo splashes, but that’s probably just not knowing the matchup. You can also srk the splash on block if you react fast enough.
I suggest that you read my post with tips above, also you need to guard from time to time you were eating random pokes/combo for free.
Ah man I wish you would had pwned him, I hate that kind of honda.
But you Ryu isn’t so bad, laking defense against the sumo’s ass and as Hiryu02 said, your hado distance isn’t secure from time to time.
You gotta start blocking instead of trying to counter poke all the time. Start bocking and then start teching the throws. Chun players usually have a whole bunch of throw set-ups because she has a fast walking speed and a fash dash.
Also pick when to rush down. When chun doesnt have meter, that when you rush her down, you dont have to worry about ex SBK; just like third strike, get the win in round one before chun has meter. When she does have meter, try to bait out the ex SBK; if you have fast enough reactions do a FADC backwards (fake on her wake-up) is she does the ex SBK you can throw out the ultra.
Basicially bait out sweeps and ex SBK’s as much as you can and watch out for throw set-ups. After that, all chun has are suprise attacks like the jump throw and the overhead special.
Of course gotta stop the random ultra, lucky every once in awhile, but you should break it.
You need to pressure her a lot more. Destroy her fireballs. Entire match, she throws one, you throw one. If she just threw a fireball, she just lost her charge and cannot ultra you. A lot of her setups are about that fireball and you were just waiting for it to get close then jumping in on her. Make her gain ground with FADC, jump ins and the hanshou(flip kick thing?). The flip kick can punish close fireballs, but this is a double edged sword, cuz it’s also punishable, so once they start using it, you can focus it or block and dp. If she’s jumping, she’s so floaty that you can actually dp her pretty easily. Once she has ultra, you’ll want to play footsies. And as much as you can, stay out of that corner…other than the new jab, ultra, she can only corner combo into it.
HazanShu is not punishable on block.
This should not stop anyone from pumping out FBs though. Just be aware of its range.
Also, Paul, you give a lot of free damage by jumping on Chun while she is idle. Only jump over pokes or early over a kikkoken.
lol…you know, I naively thought you might be mature enough to let bygones be bygones, but I was wrong. Adding you to my ignore list again as I dont care to converse with ignorant, small minded fools like yourself.
from what i have watched of you paul at that chun match up. u weren’t free… u seemed nervous and unsure a lot of the wiffs and and pushing those wiffs as well. i only watched first match, cuz im not feelin too well at all. i will watch the rest of it when i feel better, also im not that great on giving advice too lol.
Ignorance is lacking match-up knowledge, but still giving out advice like it’s gold. It bugs me to see you to look down on other contributors, like in your comments, while you fail to see how high the summit is.
I can’t really say that you got beat because of the match up. Your footsies weren’t very good. Rather than walk forward a lot of times you just jumped forward.
You seem to like to do something on wake up all the time. Wake up jab, uppercut, ex hurricane kick. Block, or if you aren’t in the corner do wake up back dash.
You rely too much on random ultra. Ryu and Viper are both characters that have tons of set ups/combos into them. Learn to combo into it. Find a way to get a stick if you don’t have one to practice on.
see, my footsies actually are pretty good… the reason they dont look good in this vid is cause I play that dude all the time and he beats me 9/10 times. He seems to just know exactly what Im going to do before i do it (we play every week) and I dont know how to get around his mind games. So I end up trying different shit I wouldnt do against other players, and end up dieing for it anyway… Probably doesnt help that hes been playing the various SF games for likie, 15 years, whilst I started with 4. But yeah, I also am incredibly hit VS Chun (and Rogs).
Chun li is kind of strange match up that I haven t figured yet. I loose against a lot of chun li even not really strong one.
so I started working on this match up and what i found is.
cr.mk is your best friend abuse it
be carefull with her sweep
react very fast to her fireball to counter with with an ahadoken. if you are late she will be able to pressure you after her fireball
try to majke her use her return kick by making hadoken feint , then punish hit by FA dash cr.lpcr.lp into whatever combo you want ( cr.hp tatsu, shoryu fadc ultra)
don t jump on her if it s not after a know down, she have very srong AA game from far with sweep and close with jump hp or jump straight hk and plenty other)
don t play agressive she is good to counter you have to be patient
and don t forget that even ih she have the lead you can recorver very fast with one combo or one punish
exemple in fight one i think when she stand up you try to throw her
she jump straight in this situation your shoryu fadc would have kill her
this is a small details but what i found is that if you want to beat her you have to work on this small details and make big domage from this
your opponment seem to react very fast to your jump in
so try at a little bit of distance an straight jump.
you made it 1 time he jumped directly forward to beat you in the her.
you will touch the ground before huiim the shoryu fadc ultra
small detail but you have to create your opportunities.
with dalshim match up chun li is the one i don t understand yet. het sweep is so good her back dash is gdlk her fa is the only one positive in guard…
