"The answer lies in the heart of battle." Ryu Video Thread

Vega has no AAs against deep jump ins & crossups anyway, and has absolutely no way to AA on his wakeup… why would I stand there? Then all he has to do is block high, low, use his reversal in the one situation it will actually work or throw tech… instead of trying to figure out empty jump/cross up/not a cross up/fake cross up using jumping fierce/cross up tatsu/not cross up tatsu/and so on. He’s more likely to back dash or back flip to get out of this scenario, so you get the punish off that, etc

Sitting there and letting him keep his full down back charge is occasionally a good choice but you have way better options from the air

If you don’t care then why bother arguing?
I am not talking choices or mind games, I am talking facts.

Whatever.

here’s a couple more we did after.a bit more serious on these ones.
he seems to have really taken to the mechanics of sf4 much better than i have in particular to focus attacks.
i have more trouble against him with focus attacks than anybody has ever given me online.
any tips regarding that from the videos?

both are horrible… cant tell which one is your or your nephew

No offense, but the quality of play here is really, really bad. i dont think either of you understand WTF is going on. I suggest you read through the first posts in each of the most important threads on here (Match-up, General , Combos…) there are some really piss poor things being done. Like, you combo a srk into an EX SRK (WHY?), you threw FBs from full screen without absorbing any for ultra… you allow each other to jump all over the place, you throw random, pointless pokes…, I dont really wanna go on… just take a look at the basic info in the threads and apply what you can.

here’s some online matches hope they are a little better (but not by much)

Why do you even bother to post if you just type something like that. Im guessing he posted his vids to get some pointers. If he had started a new thread instead, he would have gotten shit for doing that. Give constructive criticism or dont bother at all.

Darth, although maybe kinda harsh but maybe also true, gave pointers about what to do instead of just saying “U suck ass”.

The elitism of this forum just pisses me of sometimes.

^ watched a couple of the new vid but still feel the same. You lack basic knowledge which you should find in here., also, might be helpful to go back through this thread and watch videos of some of the better players ( a couple players who have posted in here are really good).

I watched the last Akuma match mostly. From that, I think you need to understand spacing more. You need to try and shut down that sort of Akuma. Try to space yourself so he cant teleport and also throw some FBs yourself - mostly from mid-screen. You also spam sweep all the time when c.mk is really a better move. Sure, sweep has its good points, but -14 on block is terrible… you have way more options afterwards with c.mk… actually…options are what you need to be thinking of. Youre just trying to knock the opponent down all the time… instead, you should be trying to limit their options whilst maximising yours - this is the purprose of good spacing.

I seriously would read through the threads though - just the consolidated information in the OPs of each thread, then use that to shut down your opponents game. REally, you need to try to make them make mistakes by putting them in unfavurable positions, then you can punish their mistakes. As it is, youre looking for big moves without any reason to tink they will hit - against good opps, youre just going to get punished for that.

Im sorry I cant help more, but there is a basic lack of understanding that you need to try to sort out first.

How long have you been playing? From what I can see it’s just a major lack of experience, so most of these matches were painful to watch. Not because you suck, but because your opponents all sucked except maybe the ken player ( how ironic … j/k he wasn’t super good but not as horrible as the rest, also that taunt was uncalled for ) and you failed to punish the load of mistakes they did.

Now as some may have suggested before me you need to go in the Ryu section and read the first post(s) of every tutorial stickies.

Also here are a few links of earlier posts I wrote :

Again from my point of view you like experience in the matchups

It’d be nice if with the matches you also put the date that the match took place, that way it’d be easier to identify outdated matches from 2008.

Part of a 3 on 3 we did yesterday :

http://fr.justin.tv/starnab#from-03.14,October-30-2009

Dropping some combos, and total lack of distance awereness ( it was 3 in the morning and we’ve been playing for 11 hours at the time  ) so I lost the second match mostly to that.

( I’m in white in the mirror )

Hi Guys; so, I need some help. this is the first time Ive ever posted a video of me. Its also fucking TERRIBLE… there’s this one dud in my local scene who plays Chun (my worst match-up by far – except maybe Rog) and I seriously dont know how to beat him. I think I might be approaching te match totally wrong or something.

PS. PLEASE dont watch this and just say YOU’RE SHIT… Im posting this BECAUSE the one dude I alwways play MAKES me look shit cause I dont know what to do and then rage ( hence random ultras)… so yeah… please help!

me sucking ass

BTW: my execution is also bad here, but that’s just cause I have to use stick in the tournies and dont have one at home. So im more after general match-up info. THANKS!

I’m terrible as Ryu but I’m not maining him, I just want to be better than scrub level with Ryu. So any tips here?
