both fight on console, very strange for me to be honest but just fun match

there is the second part 2 both are first to 5

When you watch a video with someone narrating it, you get the feel for how good they are by the way they talk. Even though the vids mickey does have posted I know all of the material, reciting the basics is always a good idea and will actually help your game out no matter how good you are. The basics are at the base of everything, so they must be solid; for instance BnB combos, I see a lot of people play yet dont use BnB combos, an perfer something like the cr.mk -> hado route and then proceed the jump in all the time, which makes no sense. You do combo’s to creat space, and then you jump right back in to close space.

Not only is it a good practice to do something like a tutorial, it’s alo a way for you to test what you, yourself knows. It’s like teaching, in class there is that one kid that knows the material, and proceeds to help others, in turn actually benifits himself in the process because he is are starting to learn the material better because you have to know what you’re talking about in order to teach it to others.

In additon to the tutorial lessons, mickey does a good job of providing insight into what you should be looking for and potenital ways for the player to go into his own style of gameplay. Why do you think people in Korea tend to rush down more while Japanese plays play more efficent and defensive ? It’s all just personal preferance; however when you look at it, who wins more, Korean players or Japanese players? Japanese players do, and that is the so called standard style of play because it shows results. Mickey’s tutorials explain in detail the basics of that style (and later on I presume more advanced material), but also isnt saying that’s the only way to play. If you take someone’s advice and apply it to every possible situation there are going to be times when the advice wont work, but you have to realize that it is not definite, it’s always changing the the basic frame work stays. But you cannot scrap the basics because you think they are unnesessary.

You have to keep in mind of when video’s are made too. There are youtube videos of various people on srk, but most of them are dated like 3, 4, or 5 months back; can you honestly say that they play that same way 3, 4, or 5 months later? Not really.

Now it’s really just deciding whether or not people are coming to Mickey’s defense on behalf of wanted to see part 5 of the video series haha. (This last part is a joke by the way)

Agreed. Mickey’s explaining WHY you want or don’t want to do x in y situations, rather than just telling you to do it. Also, smarter teachers give you the groundwork to let you develop your own way. I’m heavily involved in academics and I can say from experience the better teachers tend to use that style. Deep understanding of situations plus execution (which can always be worked on) = strong player, unlike people that say “i’m not good but listen to my advice, it’s gold.”

Finished out my statement actually, people that say “im not a pro” many times (we’ve heard it many many times) but still insists they are better than the majority is not someone to take consistant advice from. It comes off as very hypocritical.

Turns out this turned into more of a flame baiting situation, which is against the rules of the forum, but from what I’ve seen, many people defy this. [Probably not a good idea saying this considering I got a negitive rep last time when I said something about how “some people” are nazi’s for keeping forums rules in contact, but then they defy it and if someone points it out (happened to be me) I’m the asshole when “those people” started defending what they themselves set out what not to do because they are the ones doing it this time so it’s “special” and they are allowed]. *

*Not in the Ryu forums

Seriously, I do want to see part 5, about momentum I think it’s supposed to be? I think the tutorial vids are now just starting to get into more advanced stuff. That is if you still decide to do it.

off topic LB love the avatar. YOUR A MOTHER LOVER!!!

Nice Ryu. Two words, camera stand. Whoever was holding that camera, it was like he wanted to make my head spin. Also, camera stand because you should record more. Solid play all around.

Good shit man. Very nice Ryu.

wow haven’t been on this forum in months, glad to see this thread is still going strong after 20 pages! looks like i got alot of reading to do

very nice play

we are all mother lovers

Due to the large number of Ryu’s I get online I decided to start recording my wins against Ryu. Here is the latest one:

If you guys don’t want me posting Ryu wins here then say or just negative rep me. If any of you bump into me online and you win it would be funny to see the video here of me getting owned!

Also, I just did Ryu’s hard trials last night and I will be rocking his titles and icons while I hunt down these lp shoryukens.

I wish I could play you but my PS3 is busted and I’m on the PC version now. I use to have a lot of trouble with G2 Sakura’s, they all play just like you. Crouching fierce, EX tatsu mix ups, neutral jumps, ability to smell a fireball and jump it on reaction. I’ve improved since then and have a better handle of the match up but it still needs some work. And that overhead kick and standing roundhouse is godly, damn things have so much reach.

I’m not trying to say Sak is a counter pick for Ryu, it’s me who needs to improve. Just stating my problems with players who play Sakura like that.

We are all here at SRK to learn from each other. My hate for Ryu is just my way of making it more fun in playing against so many.

Reading this page alone it seems like there are some very very serious ryu players here and I have not watched a single video… yet.

You guys are lucky here to get such great info on match ups. I’m trying to get some info about what characters think of the Sakura match up. Nobody really takes her seriously because she has alot of bad match ups while characters liek Ryu seem to have no bad match ups at all!

quality, not quantity.

you should really add some ryu players from this thread and play them player-matches. you will learn a lot more than playing random ryu’s in championship mode.

That Ryu was horrible. Once I get over my flu I’ll get at you and we’ll have some matches. That Ryu was seriously, seriously bad.

Yeah, he’s awful. LOL, like what the fuck is he even doing eating all those jump ins? Hahaha

Don’t forget the random tatsus from full screen!! He made that match as free as he possibly could.
