i think daigo really saves his meter solely for the purpose of jump air tatsu crossup.
without super, that becomes a techable knockdown that sure is some damage but doesn’t guarentee a followup nor a swing in momentum.
once the super meter is there, not only is the mixup still valid, but the followups are also very significant both in terms of damage and momentum.
anyways. i realize my ground game is very very lackluster, and the reason is i block too much. because of onlne play where people doing so many stupid shit that i can just wait out for mistakes made me more of a passive player than a rushdown player i used to be…

stay standing while footsing unless you are in a crouching range (since crouching makes you “closer” to your opponent and footsie normals will hit you when it can whiff)
work on your fireball game (everyone has ‘tendencies’ when throwing fireballs. throws 2 in a row and waits, throws one immediatley when past jumpin range, always does c.foward fireball, etc)
make sure you mix things up. correcting bad habits is the hardest thing so it’s best to not develop one in the first place.
you can do it if youre super deep, if you meaty the first c.mp on wake-up, or if you hit a deep jump-in. Can do the same thing against other characters with really wide hitboxes.
character specific, plus I think it can be down only on crouching character.
if zanghief is crouch you can can jump in hp 3 cr.mp sweep, if he is standaing you can t.

That Ryu was pretty good, but the Gief wasn’t good at all.

That was the original post from Mickey. Mickey never said he was a top player instead he got accused of it. I have played neither DarthPaul or Mickey but they both post alot on this forum which is helpful to us all…They just had a difference of opinion, thats all…imo anyway…

Recently at North West Majors Mickey D played a buddy of mine who is a pretty high level (not on the same level as our top players, but he’s getting there) by the user name of Yummy. I don’t remember what Yummy said the score was, I wanna say 3-1 or 3-2 Mickey D but I can’t rememeber. Anyways, here’s my point…
Some of you from here have played me in the past. Some of you have played me pretty recently as well. Now, I’m not a top player but I think the general consensus would be fair to assume would be that people think I’m a pretty good player, between amatuer and intermediate perhaps… probably won’t be taking first at tournies for some while but I ain’t free. Here’s the kicker… Yummy beats me in casuals 7-1 or 8-1 ALL FUCKING DAY. All day. His Abel is sick and I just could not find a way to beat him with my Ryu. Oh hey, Mickey plays Ryu and was able to beat him? Don’t get me wrong Mickey, I’m training hard for when we meet (my scene thinks pretty much at this point I have no chance of beating you :wasted:) and I know Jordan is as well.
I beat a lot of people here (not trying to sound arrogant, here me out), Yummy beats me, Mickey beats Yummy (hopefully not for long!!!) Tell me he isn’t good. Top player? Well, what defines top player? Are we talking JWong, Daigo, Mago, Choi and Valle level? Maybe not (not tryin to diss you at all Mickey) But he’s going out there and hitting up tournaments trying to get better for himself and for the community. Even if Mickey was the shittiest player ever, couldn’t win a round off of a 2 year old child maybe… even if that was the case but his theory was still sound? Forget about it… the shit he’s doing in the tuts is still a win. I have been told I know a lot more about this game than I show when I play dozens and dozens of times. My mind is better than my hands can keep up with. I guess what I’m trying to say is, even if Mickey sucked, he’s still doing something for the community if his knowledge about links, block strings, zoning, zones, match ups, footsies is accurate he is still a big hand to the community. I personally learned something from him a few months back through his videos so fuck anyone who thinks he isn’t helping.

I mean, my local guys say I have a 10% or less chance of winning at this point with my Ryu. Again, I have respect for Mickey because he’s played the guys I game with and we have some bad ass players here in BC, you just don’t know. I find it amazing how ungrateful some people here are and how when one person says “You’re wrong”, they get a whole gang of people to believe what theyre saying. And even if DarthPaul helped at all, it still doesnt compare to what Mickey has done.

Well, I just don’t like the shitting on players trying to help out the community. I’m constantly trying to unite my scene (we have some SF4 haters… old school 3S players) and I know that it takes work to do videos and shit on top of training for yourself. I made some videos when I first started playing and was still on a pad. I sucked at the time, but my theory was sound so I wanted to pass it on in order to help people. Some of the more recent members here won’t know who I am and I’m not saying they should, but some of the guys from back around April or so will have watched those vids and I know I was able to give a hand to them and that’s all I really wanted.
Mickey isn’t obligated to make these videos for us. He could do what many of the better players do and say “fuck you, these are my secrets” I can tell he doesn’t agree with that mindset and nor do I. If you’re beating people because of a tactic or shenanigan that they didn’t know about and no one but you did (unlikely but possible) then you’re really cheating yourself. I hear Japanese players share pretty much everything since there is no money on the line, only their pride. This is what we should all aspire to do. The better you get, the better I’ll get and vica versa.
