quick question, did you do cross up? or just jump in when rog is on the wake up? or did you try to do both?
oh and RSnake, i’m not a pro so i think most people think they are pros will be the correct term jk mate

I’d be the first to say I’m not a pro. Got a long way to go, for sure.
See ya around Snake, drop me a line on MSN
Just learn how to tell good advice from the bad. Correct bad advice if you see it.
this is good advice i have to say
I want to bring this thread back on topic.
These are some amazing matches, every one of us can learn a lot from these.
Quick question about those Momochi vs Daigo mirrors, they are throwing hado’s from like sweep distance isnt that unsafe also they ultra’d eachother like 5 times because of hado’s from sweep distance were they baiting for that or is there something else?
It’s hard to comment on the mindgames for people so many tiers above me, but the strategy is still sound.
Both of them didn’t want to stop throwing fireballs, because then you give up momentum. Both players would love to predict a single fireball and be able to land a jumpin combo, but being wrong means you might eat a SRK -> Ultra.
When an opponent has an ultra stocked at that range, then throwing a hadoken is a high-risk, low-reward option. However, you can’t just sit back and stop throwing hadokens altogether because then the opponent has a much much better ground game.
Basically look at the ultra like a single ‘trick’. You should avoid it if possible, but he’s still probably going to land it this round. It’s better to play aggressively and eat the ultra than to surrender all offense in fear of opening yourself to the ultra.
Note this doesn’t apply to everyone’s ultra.
thanks for your quick reply i’ll keep it in mind, shit wont work online tho everyone jumpes like crazy haha
I think that’s what you’re missing. To jump safely at Ryu, you need to be at the correct range and jump on reaction to seeing a fireball being thrown. If you’re late, you can actually still make it over the fireball, but get srk’d anyway. It’s not that easy to do, especially when you’re opponent is as good at zoning as both of those players are.
I don’t jump in on ryu a lot, only if i notice that they dont AA or something
A Ryu with a strong fireball, poking and AA game is SCARY. I often forget about AA when I’m trying to play footsies or zone and end up having to cHP people instead of SRKing for like 60+ more damage
not to mention that depending on what the opponent press it can beat ryu’s c.hp and give them free combos
while srking them gives additional 60+ more damage depending on the punch button you press plus you can always fadc into ultra or if it trades you can do ultra or you can follow up with super if you use lp version
Indeed. I try to buffer SRKs after my fireballs in “danger of jump in” range but sometimes I get too happy to be getting free cMK/cMK, Hadoken all day that I forget about it. Sometime that’s worked for me is say you get a few hits in during footsies range or lock them down and force them to block… assume they will jump in soon trying to find another way past your ground game and just be conscious of it… meh
uhhhh… who is ‘everyone’? … hope you dont mean me, cause Ive said time and time again that im not that good (said it yesterday in my argument with Mickey D).
Why u opening your big mouth if you’re not that good.
what? dude STFU … Im knowledgeable and probably better than MOST on the Ryu section, but that doesnt mean im a pro… that ok with you? or would you rather have me lie and claim im a pro, like certain other people here? End of the day, if I give advice, try it, just like I do with all the advice I read here…
nobody here is in a position to state anything as gospel, we just pass advice back and forth and take onboard the things we find helpful… make sense?
It’s not unsafe, that the distance you play footsies.
Momochi is using Focus a lot from sweep distance, it’s kinda dangerous but the payoff worth it. ( See second and third set for reference )
You don’t see srk > cancel > ultra so much because there’s absolutely no jump-in and not so much close combat. (Actually you see it once in the first set and AA srk > Ultra in the last one).
Hence the fact that the easiest way to lend the Ultra is to throw it on reaction from ~dash distance.
ote that Daigo almost never uses his meter except for super/ex tatsu and never jumps in except on wake ups.

not to put more fuel on the fire but if only good players that can post then this site will be down
regardless shouldn’t we all put an end to this? this is a video thread, lets not make this worse
the last comment before ps, did he do it only for certain characters? i know he did quite a bit of jumpins against rufus
smart man. i recommend you all listen to his advice.
