One of the Shinsegumi characters, Yamazaki, is a badminton fan. Since Gintama runs in Jump, they often make him do Prince of Tennis parodies with his favorite sport instead of tennis. :lol: He even says Echizen’s famous line in one of the episodes, as well.
As for the episode count, it’s a lot. It’s still running in Japan (160 as of June 4th), but up to now, 113 episodes have been subbed and the group working on it, Rumbel, is dedicated.
To me, I thought it was like Berserk without the violence and nudity. Like, instead not having a family and being raped and almost murdered, Guts went to mercantile school. Instead of meeting Gods who wished to sacrifice him, kill all of his friends and rape his lover, they turned out to be a cool wolf girl and go on an adventure together. When he gets screwed over he just loses some gold instead of an arm and an eye. He gets revenge through clever trading instead of a magnetic crossbow cannon arm and a giant sword.
So tempted, but I firmly believe in the mental association of AVs (IE, I think people look like what is in their avatar,which is what makes “post yourself” threads so disconcerting. I don’t want to change mine until it is deeply, deeply ingrained in the minds of SRK.)

Popular torrents kick ass, I started this morning and K-on was finished downloading by the time I was done making breakfast. Growing up means you watch cartoons every morning, not just Saturdays.
I also came to the conclusion that the reason people don’t like K-on is because they think its a music show. Its not. It’s moe porn damn it. You’re watching it wrong.

Pretty much remains faithful to the manga with a bit more added in to try to tie the characters more. It had a early Gungrave feeling to it and was quite good but the animation should have been top notch for an OAV but it looks like they didn’t get a large budget for it. The animation itself is not bad at all but the action sequences were sorely lacking the over the top animation I would have expected. The vocal cast is the same as the drama CD so I’m really pleased. Looking forward to the next OAV when we’ll see Naoto’s and Haine’s story. Prepare to “FUCK UP! GENTLEMEN!”
Shangri-La is starting to get more interesting for me but the set up took far too long. I can’t remember if this was a 26 episode series but it better be otherwise they just wasted a whole bunch of time.

Yeah, talked about it the last page or so. Enjoyed it for quite a bit and looking forward for the next episodes. Sure hope a 13 ep series comes out of this.

Watched K-ON 10 a bit earlier; more or less seemed like a remixed version of the previous training camp episode, but with Azusa. It had it’s moments, especially with the bit with Sawako and Mio. There was more bonding than the usual but there was a tiny hint of music here and there. Still, it was a lot better than last week’s.
Gintama 113 was a riot. After seeing the toilet paper episode, I never expected something would rival it in epicness, but it did.
The first picture made me think that dude was a statue, then the second picture made me realize it was nightcrawler. Dude’s a horse stealing pimp.

I think Okawari was pretty much enough when it comes to Mako-chan. Hell, they could’ve even called it Makochan-ke and it wouldn’t have made a difference. :lol:
