+1 for those who disliked the characters in Escaflowne. Van was cool but the rest of the cast ranged from “they’re okay”, such as Merle, to “OH MY GOD WILL YOU FUCKING KILL THEM OFF ALREADY”…like everyone else, especially Hitomi and Allen.

Just finished watching the full length cam rip of Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance. I could slam you all with a wall of text about it but I’ll save everyone the time that it would take to scroll over it. In short: It was everything I wanted and more.
I love the continuation of subtle hints that it’s a re-happening and not a re-telling of events. Love the new character Mari. Love the changes they made. Etc, etc, etc.
Only real gripe I had with this move is the fact that Mari didn’t get enough air time or have any real interactions with anyone outside of Shinji, but I can live with that and is an extremely minor complaint.
In short, I could stop watching anime for the rest of the year after viewing this and be happy with myself.
2.0 is definitely worth all of that hype. It does an excellent job of appeasing practically everyone without fucking up the canon or the over all feel of the series.
As for the original series, I for one actually enjoys the “slideshow” segments of Neon Genesis and think they have a rightful place in the series.
2.0 Zereul fight
[details=Spoiler] Only difference in the instance of 2.0 is that when Eva Unit 01’s power core dies it doesn’t “awaken” to go berserker and attack Zereul in an animalistic assault. Instead, this time around, Unit 01 seems to both awaken to it’s angelic nature and completely link to the will of Shinji, resulting in Unit 01 killing Zereul more like an angel than a savage animal.
It’s different, but I for one liked it.

Is it really as bad as I think it is? I’ve been reading episode descriptions and it sounds fucking terrible.
Imagine 5 (or 6) of the same thing every week. Every. Same. Thing. Outside of VERY tiny subtle bits, but it’s word for word the exact same events.
I can’t fathom anyone buying a DVD set of 4 episodes (or whatever number of episodes they’d put on one) featuring the same kind of malarkey.

Eh…the last two eps weren’t great, but I don’t get the degree of hate they get. EoE, on the other hand, makes me want to kill a man, eat him, shit him out, eat the man-shit, vomit it up, and boil it in piss, because the resulting pile of refuse is the best way I can describe how much I fucking hate that garbage.

Wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work, watch Haruhi, sleep, wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work, watch Haruhi SEE THE EXACT SAME THING FROM BEFORE, sleep xN is the kind of thing that causes people to snap.
If this season of Haruhi is going to consist of this kind of bullshit I’m not even going to bother. Which is a shame as I was semi-looking forward to this season too.
the best part is that I watched the first half of the FIRST iteration of this bullshit and got bored, then never watched the rest.
