The Android thread. Questions, comments, help, etc

My biggest gripe with my previous lg phone was the keyboard. It would suddenly stop accepting inputs. Later on the phone would just simply stop making calls.

Granted, this was am Optimus 3d so a lot could have changed. I did hear of similar gripes on the g2, so I’ve been apprehensive about lg. However, my dad has the Optimus g and has no such issues, so maybe it’s just random phones or perhaps it’s something with the Asian variants.

If after a month you have no issues, let me know. I almost bought the g2 but the keyboard issues were so annoying that I couldn’t trust it.

I just rooted my new HTC One M8 and have spent the past week tinkering with it.

Running Android Revolution HD 11.1 and it’s been buttery smooth. Sickening. Spent ages customising a homescreen + Xposed mods too.

Almost got a heart attack when I first flashed a ROM though. The phone “died” too long for comfort.

I believe Virgin handles things through SIMs, right?

Pop out your SIM, get it cut down to micro-SIM (they have hole punches that do this on amazon for cheap), pop it into your new phone. You MAY have to dial Virgin customer service, but beyond that, shouldn’t be too hard.

I use SwiftKey as my keyboard

Actually, looks like they stopped that…at least for their month-to-month phones. At any rate, no SIM in my case. Will that make switching devices easier?

Actually, it didn’t matter one iota what keyboard app I used. If I used the LG Default, if I used SwiftKey/Google/Go Keyboard, it all resulted in the same crap of no keyboard input happening.

So yeah, if you’re not experiencing keyboard issues at all, then I guess LG finally got that resolved.

Nope, not really, or at least I don’t think so.

oh snap randomly got dat oneplus one invite

still debating about buying tho lol…
non removable battery might be a concern.

Mobile power bank man. Just get that, basically like a spare battery.

yeah I know but for the money…I kinda want the LG G3 instead lol

Really, if you’re going to be travelling outside the USA at all, the OnePlus One is the better phone. Otherwise, just grab a G3, because the SD card slot and the removable battery is a better setup.

thought all verizon LTE phones and factory unlocked and works anywhere? confirm/deny?

I travel outside…

From what I know Verizon stays locked unless you stay current on your bill and can get reps to unlock it for you.

The thing is that if you want LTE to work all over, go for OnePlus. Verizon LTE bands aren’t the same as everywhere else.

well…gonna order it and if I dont like it I will just sell it for a profit lol

I was hoping to get the invite for the 16gb model since I really dont need the storage. randomly got one for the black version. $50 more for just storage and black back.

amazon link?

There are dozens of them, just search. I have this one

but there are much smaller ones that are fine for charging a single device.

Maybe someone can help me out. For some reason, my PC refuses to read the files on my phone. I’m not sure what changed because I was able to do this before with no problems. Sometimes, when I’m able to view files and I try to transfer files from my PC to the phone, it gives up and tells me the device stopped responding. How do I fix this?

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Ace IIe, and I’m using Windows 7. If it helps, I usually have USB debugging enabled, but I still have the same problem when I turn that off.

EDIT: I discovered a driver issue, gonna see if that solves the problem.

EDIT 2: Nah, same issues. Help!

I waited all year for Jolla Sailfish os to come to the states like they said it would and…

still waiting
>.<

single greatest purchase I made in the last year

@King9999 did your phone require Kies to sync before?

Have you installed any new firmware updates to your phone?

I used Kies to update the firmware and install drivers, but not to sync anything. I don’t know if the problem started after updating the firmware (I did the update a long time ago). Should I be using Kies to sync files?
