I own a Google Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi only, 32GB). Build number is JRO03S. I’ve been stuck on 4.1.1 since I got it this past X-Mas and have been unable to install any of the firmware updates over the air. I’m able to download the update fine, but when I install, the progress bar fills up about 20-25%, then stops. This is signified with the little Android mascot falling over dead on his back, chest cavity opened, with a red exclamation point triangle hovering over his chest. Help?
Couple of questions, is it modded or rooted? Have you tried downloading it again? Maybe it was a bad download.
I haven’t done anything to it. I got it fresh out of the box for Xmas, and have just been using it to play games, watch Netflix, surf the net. Nothing fancy. I’ve downloaded the 4.2.2 update numerous times, each time the download is successful. The installation part is where it continually fails on me about 25% of the way through. I’ve contacted Google tech support and they don’t know what’s wrong either.

Yep. I’ve done pretty much every normal troubleshoot I could think of/read online. Google Tech Support is even stumped as to why I’ve never been able to OTA update my Nexus.
I had that exact same problem when updating to 4.2.2 so I took the extreme way of fixing this by updating the stock bootloader to 4.18 and then flashing the 4.2.2 factory image into the Nexus 7.
I’m not tech saavy at all, but I’m dying to get my 4.1.1 to 4.2.2. Care to share via PM what steps I need to take to get me to 4.2.2?

It might be good to check out the forums there. I can give you some general steps, but if you need to really get into it that’s the best place to get it.

Unless things have changed, no. My LG Optimus 3D is lasting almost all waking day without a charge, even with wifi enabled. I’ve never had a Motorola phone last more than 3 hours under the same conditions.

the snapdragon 800 and battery size are the most impressive specs imo. apparently there’s viper rom with multi window for the htc one so i might have to ditch samsung unless they put some stereo speakers on the front. can’t wait to see official announcements for both galaxy note 3 and htc t6.

I just wish that my HTC EVO 4G LTE had better custom ROM support.
It’s even worse now, because the HTC One is getting official AOSP, but I still get left in the dust.
it’s only a rumor at this point and if it were true it would be coming out a year after the note 2 which makes the comparison unfair. at this point it’d be this htc t6 versus the galaxy note 3. if the specs for the t6 are accurate it will be beastly. i don’t know if samsung will put their exynos octa in the note 3 but by that point snapdragon800 will be better than the current exynos octa. i don’t really use the pen that much but i would expect the note 3’s pen features to be much better than the t6’s since it will be sammy’s third stab at the pen and htc’s first.
note 3 will be announced at ifa in germany in september (6-11). i don’t konw if they can announce and launch it at the same time. apple seems to be the only company that can really do that but if any android company were to do it it would be sammy with the note 3.
