The Android thread. Questions, comments, help, etc

you didn’t mention your carrier? tmobile has the non-contract contract where all you pay for is the phone. you can put 100 down and then pay the rest in installments until the phone is paid off. i dunno about that blue life series phone…it’s got a7’s…the gs4 and htc are on a15’s now so the a7 is two generations behind…??

something i was just thinking about.
i also dont want to get another contract through sprint.
when it is time to updgrade can you just buy a new phone for the cheap price and then cancel the contract and pay the cancel fee and keep the phone therefore getting the phone for around three to four hundred bucks instead of two.

also i am currently running cmten on my shift. it is not bad but it wont let me use the function key on the keyboard therefore not letting me use numbers and symbols from the keyboard.
on the bright side it put me on android four.one.two which lets me download alot more apps i could not at first, like chrome for instance.
maybe i will try a new kernal with this rom and see how it works.

might wanna wait for the HTC M4. its slightly smaller version of the HTC one M7.

I was really surprised to see how much smaller the GS4 was compared to my Note 2. I mean, I knew it would be smaller, but damn. I thought I was looking at the wrong phone.

were you talkin bout me?

the specs will probably be slower too.

Thinking of getting my mom a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Note 10.1. The Tab is only $300 while the Note is $500. Online reviews are mixed as to whether the Note is worth the additional $200 for the stylus and increased power. She is a nurse who would be using it mainly for charting, school/work stuff while the entertainment aspect would be secondary. Any help?

I would go with the far superior Galaxy Note 10.1. It’s on sale for $429 shipped on Amazon right now. I’m REALLY trying to resist the urge to purchase one for myself.

Tomorrow, at Google I/O, they might reveal a new Nexus 7 Android-based tablet.

(from: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/05/14/google-io-2013-expectations-nexus-7-2-phones-tweaks-to-android/)

Specs for the original Nexus 7 are as follows (for comparison):

· 7-inch 1280 x 800 resolution display
· nVidia *Tegra 3* processor (a quad-core processor)
· no rear-facing camera
· 1.2 MP front-facing camera
· 4325 mAh battery
· Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)

Bit the bullet and ordered the Note 10.1 off Amazon. Hopefully it does everything she wants it to; the stylus seems to be the selling point for professionals like my mom.

In case you were unaware, there was a “Premium Suite” software update released for the device that upgrades the software to Jellybean and adds a lot of additional functionality such as multi window and air view. On top of that, the device seems to run even smoother than it already did. She’s gonna love it.

Well, it’s still an S4, the price ain’t coming down just because stock Jellybean is on it.
Anyone here remotely interested in this, keep your eyes on XDA. The rom will be released for the standard S4 within a month of release.

I dont understand the hate for the price at all. Its an unlocked unsubsidized phone. Its like 20 bucks more than an off contract s4 now So the price difference is negligible. Plus tmobile might let you make payments on it anyways???

No touchwiz means no multi window so I dont use the aosp roms anyway. I know a lot of people want stock android but its completely overrated to me.

so apparently the htc one comes out for verizon possibly the same week as the galaxy s4…hmmm…dat free upgrade.

probably not by much

I might buy it

Does the utorrent app mean that I can just download the files straight on my phone and play it?

^ should be. google it. I will try whenever I can…

anyway I bought a new galaxy S3 the other day…deal was too good to pass and its the international quad core version.

I tried it and its not downloading for me at all. Can someone try for me? I did not change any settings, I’ll try again a little bit later.

i was never able to get it to work. i’ll try again just for you kim.

Its able to open the torrent from revolution but it doesnt start downloading. I then tried downloading a song from kat.ph and that started downloading right away. Tried another file from revolution and that woukdnt start either. Went back to kat.ph and tried a 30 minute tv episode which started right away. Topped out at about 450kb/s on tmobile.

So in conclusion yes it works but for some reason not with torrents from revoution. Revolution is maybe blocking ports or something?? Dunno. Didnt try any other sites but got 2 torrents fron kat.ph just fine. Pretty cool app though.
