Did you check to see if you’re running a custom recovery, like ClockWork Mod Recovery? If you’re running a custom recovery, re-installing root is as easy as placing a zip file on your SD card and flashing it from recovery, which only takes a couple of seconds…

Is there any easy way to do this? Like I know I don’t have a Clockwork app installed. But I don’t know if that specifically would show up in my menu.

Have your phone reboot to recovery. Even if it isn’t rooted, it’ll have a stock recovery at the least.

Tell me what you find.

Probably will wait till after work to do so, but will do.

So when I try to get to recovery mode, it just hangs at the screen with the exclamation point and the android logo. Pressing the search key (both soft and keyboard) does nothing.

Thoughts?

Question for you guys. I recently got a samsung galaxy s2 (first smartphone). I was really happy with it but yesterday I searched for updates and installed ICS but I dunno it just doesn’t seem right and I’m pretty sure my battery is draining much faster.

Before this the OS that was installed was 2.3.6.

Now my question, does a factory reset put it back to that version? or do I need to do something complicated?

Ahh love my new RAZR Maxx! Shits all over my old phone.

Finally got it to work. Found out with GB that the sequence to get into recovery mode has changed.

Here’s what I have:

Android system recovery 3e
Android system recovery utility

So it looks like just stock recovery, right? Looks like my root process would just be the 1-Click Root program for Moto Droids?

I suppose my wife is now going to be trying to scalp her OG Galaxy S here in China so she can procure this.

That phone is stunning. Almost looks too smart, like it’s going to become sentient at any time.

I hate Verizon. Still waiting for 4.0.4 to be released to my phone…just push that shit out! Google…have some balls and tell Verizon to get their shit together!

If you meet the pre-requisites, it can be as simple as that.

In case anyone missed this:

I can’t wait!!!

do any of you guys know of any good tutorials for programing software for the Android phones? Or will page 1 Google be good enough

awesome, so should i uninstall the Superuser app before I do this, or it will be fine on there while I do the one-click root?

One click should work, I’m on 2.3.3, and the only version it doesn’t work on for D2G is 2.3.4

Gah dammit. HTC, Google, and T-Mo can go to hell for not providing an ICS update for the G2 or the MT4G.

Leave it on there. One-Click won’t play with the ROM itself or its contents if you’re looking to just flashing a custom recovery.

Well, I do want to get hold of a custom ROM perhaps, but the hole process is a little unsettling. It’s obviously not like changing an OS on a computer, so it’s really a little freaky to know one screw-up could mean a useless phone.

But CM7 sounds tasty. CM9 doesn’t seem stable enough on D2G (From what I’ve seen) for me to want it right now.

EDIT: Meh, looks like I’m on a .608 system, so I don’t think flashing is happening.

Any guesses why I can’t wifi tether? USB tether works fine. It’s an SGS2 (JP carrier if that matters)

Why do voicemails and voice recording show up in the music player? o_O

Eh? I’ve never had that happen.

Voice recordings, yeah, because D2/D2G doesn’t have a built in app for that, but voicemails? Never had that happen.
