The Ameяican Government Thread

Possibly, the libertarian party has worked on ballot access for decades to be included in all 50 states. Stein has no chance last I checked.

Is it even possible for the USA to pay out its National Debt or is it just a permanent stigma unless the US enters an all-out war against the rest of the world?

Does anybody even care about the National Debt anymore?

How did this whole thing start?

The Debt is perpetual and it’s not really something they are trying to pay, if it’s just meant to be kept low because we aren’t on a real currency like gold or silver, it’s paper they print of thin air backed only by the perceived value of the American people… (mortgage securities specifically).

Least of our worries imo, if you want a real understanding of how it works, start here.

National debts work very differently from private debts for countries that control their own currency, for basically the reason Jimbo was getting at- we can literally just print more money. Countries having some amount of debt is almost always a good thing for macroeconomic reasons (it encourages economic growth, etc).

So some amount of debt isn’t a problem, there’s some sort of sweet spot of debt the country wants to be at regardless which moves around a bit depending on what the economy is doing.

The numbers involved with Trump’s current proposals are crazy town though, and suggest both that his overall policy position is very poorly thought out as a complete picture, and that his policies would have virtually nil chance of actually being enacted as proposed if he were to be elected.

These debates going to get ugly quick.
Should be interesting to watch. Might put a hold on watching my Falcons play.

To be honest, I think Trump would have trouble passing through for Congress with the wall, deporting illegals, and ban all incoming muslims. I don’t think he would accomplish anything useful. These ideas are too polarizing and won’t get through.

I would say the wall has maybe a shot at passing. Our Congress is pretty awful though. President can only do so much which is good in alot of ways.

Waits for typical liberal backlash

All the more reason I believe a lot of those talking points are him just drumming up votes rather than believing he has a shot at doing them. When he’s actually in the position, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see his REAL plans come forward, which, while not dissimilar in position, way more realistic in scope.

Christopher Hitchens, ladies and gentlemen. Definitely one of the most brilliant minds of our time. So dearly missed.

From a purely mathematical standpoint, yes it is possible to pay off the national debt. Infact if we just froze a significant portion of our military, federal, and global assets and hiked up taxes for a year we could probably blast out at least a third of it in that time if we really put the nose to the grind stone. But, like Jimbo said, the point isn’t to pay it off. Think of “National Debt” like stock. Since the American currency isn’t backed by anything physical, its value instead increases and decreases based on the number of “investors” it gains, kind of like a company. However if you get too much national debt you end up treading water and your economy becomes too over-saturated and indebted to be attractive and enters a recessive period. If you have too little the “stock” isn’t valuable enough to be worth investing in in the first place. Having a National Debt is a good thing for an economy like ours, its just that the powers that be are mishandling it, abusing it, and misrepresenting it to exploit America and her very very valuable and powerful global position.

Well a lot of the younger generation are concerned about Global Warming and he said we won’t have to worry about it since the sun will blow us up eventually…

He is technically right, but that won’t be for another like 4.5 billion years.

The point he was making is human Co2 emissions account for 2%. Volcanic activity could kick up tomorrow or natural fires and throw another 10-20% in the blink of an eye. The earth goes through massive climate change all the time.

Cutting our Co2 isn’t going to be accomplished by telling Africans they wont ever get to have air conditioning or cars like Obama does or a elaborate tax schemes, technological progress will eliminate Co2 that you wont get if you tax industry out of business.

I am a lot more worried about the Oceans and Fukushima than I am Co2 emissions which are still within the range of what has and will occur naturally. They wont talk about the oceans or the chromium12 in the water supply because those are things that you can fix, measure and directly address without abstract arguments and bullshit global taxes.

They already have claimed the Icecaps would be gone by 1997, then 2008, now it’s 2030. They keep pushing that goal post back because they been consistently wrong.

Where I was getting that from his Tax plan is wrapped up in Health care revisions, which is the bulk of what they are listing as costs. Not much else there is fleshed out and some of these reforms depending on implementation easily be a savings or =/=.

The biggest problem I see with these numbers is immigration reform being listed as a cost without consideration to the fact you have 20-50 million people abusing entitlements/not paying full taxes/Criminal justice/schools and the trillions associated in savings if you aggressively cleaned this shit up.

Oculus founder is a Trump supporter, and he’s accused of fueling Trump’s meme machine.

the media recieved new marching orders. A lot of MSM sites claiming that r/The-Donald and the dank memes are pumped out of a boardroom essentially. I don’t need to address this absurdity but I do want to remind everyone of the real shilling going on by Hillary’s thugs from Correct the Record on Reddit and other comments everywhere, so the irony is immense here

Hillary got the advantages so far. Hillary can win one of the battleground states and win. If she gets Ohio, Florida or NC. It is a wrap. Trump gotta do the gauntlet, sweep the battleground states and get a likely demo state to win. Also she may randomly steal Arizona or NC which are red states. They are close by 1-2%.

Good site since it uses polls from other sites.

Too much Trump support. He is borderline racist IMO. So is most of the Republican party. Someone gotta be a Trump hater here.

Hey man, you can’t make blanket statements like that.

That’s racist.

Lovin’ this dude here…

“Too many Trump supporters in here.”

*several posts saying “No, just not Cliton” or “No, Johnson supporter” or “No, Stein supporter”

“hmmm… too many Trump supporters in here.”
