You can get divorced after the kid leaves home. I’ll make exceptions of course for widowers and violent relationships, but where there are children involved. no-fault divorce should be outlawed until at least after they reach adulthood (18-21, take your pick of age).
That’s what life insurance is for, seriously if people need all this subsidy and help making basic decisions like don’t have kids with someone violent it is apparently obvious they need the full time care and decision making prowess of a Husband who will undoubtedly do it better than government.

I was more talking about becoming a single parent in the first place. Becoming a widower is kinda unpredictable.
If the violence begins after children enter the family, that’s different to when the relationship was happy and peaceful.

To add some content to the post, it isn’t Marriage that I’m personally against, it’s the stabbing end of the spear called Divorce. Divorce laws here in America and for quite a few other countries is little more than legalized theft. If you’re the breadwinner of the house, you damn near automatically lose in divorce court. If you’re a man, your chances of winning are shit unless you’re dirt poor, and only then because you have little to lose if anything. Child custody? Fergetaboutit!! Men have less than a 1 in 10 chance of winning that, and the odds are pretty close to %95 in America. If the initial damage isn’t enough, you can always be taken back to court to increase payments if you get a better job. Unfortunately, a lot of people abuse the fact that the government pays for children. Well, women can. it’s not so easy if you’re a single dad. It’s why a lot of guys have just said no to the whole thing. As an old saying goes,“Marriage is grand,but Divorce is 100 grand.”
