I agree, I like using regular Phoenix a lot but half the time, thanks to her health, it’s not even worth it unless you’re REALLY good at not getting hit/taking too much damage. Have to build a whole team around a character that doesn’t come until the very end. But Dark Phoenix is really good haha, so I shouldn’t complain much.
Ive been using Phoenix, Tron, and either Chris/Trish/x-23 still dont know whos best to anchor that team, any ideas?
Really nice sugestions here ;D
Im running a Taskmaster/Morrigan/Phoenix setup, since i got the game on last friday im still at the lab getting BNB’s on the tip of the finger, but im really happy with the result. Against my sister, who runs a Dante/Amaterasu/Hsien-Ko setup, i really can win with some ease, but i fking hate the dog xP
I really like Taskmaster, good zoning tools, can handle himself with keep away chars, gr8 dmg output with only one bar. Morrigan is always in for the free meter and i really like using her. I use also Phoenix when i feel confortable to tag her in, against Amaterasu…its quite a struggle, so i pop her in against more ferocious foes with 5 bars stocked. Its so orgasmic to use D.Phoenix <3
With this setup e rarely run out of meter, can always spend hyper bar in combos, can zone out, can rush and use phoenix more than often, Task with Parabolic Assist and Morrigan with free meter…yumie!
So far, im more than happy!
I’m messing around with Wolverine/Doom/Phoenix right now. Phoenix shot > tele covered by rocks is a really nice way to fill the screen.
Dormammu/Hulk/Phoenix
Dormammu can sit back and build meter all day, using his columns to give him time to charge hands and continue keeping people out. Hulk vertical assist keeps people off of Dormammu. They both have good health and a lot of endurance potential, and at 3 or 4 meters, I’ll try to air tag right to Phoenix so that I can have assists cover her. Especially if I have stigma charged with dormammu.
I don’t really think I’m liking the team “synergy” that my current Trish/Morrigan/Phoenix team is having at the moment. Can anyone shed some light on how to really work this team properly with Trish on point? Otherwise, I’m thinking of replacing Trish with Dormammu because I’m starting to love his gameplay style more.
My teams currently:
Trish - Hopscotch
Morrigan - Shadow Blade
Phoenix - TK Overdrive/Shot
Possibly thinking:
Dormammu - Dark Hole
Morrigan - Dark Harmonizer, though Shadow Blade might be needed for Dorm?
Phoenix - TK Overdrive/Shot
i think this is a strong team
Word.
I’m running for now Wesker(B)/Doom(Missiles)/Phoenix (Shot). Phoenix is too fun, I wish it was 4 people per team sometimes since I like Spidey a lot too though.
I’ve been experimenting with Viper/Chun/Phoenix since both Viper and Chun Li have nice cross ups and don’t use too much meter. Personally, I don’t think this is the best team for Phoenix and I’ll probably have to look at other characters that can cover Phoenix better (like Doom).
I also agree with others. It’d be nice to play Phoenix normally without Dark Phoenix Rises if she gets more health. She’s really fun to play and I hate having to hold my bars instead of finishing a combo with Phoenix Inferno. If time is getting low or I can kill a character off, I’ll use Phoenix Inferno, but yeah… A friend of mine has also been using Phoenix and I had to time out win against him since he was taunting me with Dark Phoenix Rising. Needless to say, the same thing happened to me the next day in a rank match lol. Sometimes you have to play against Phoenix as you would against Gill before knowing to beat the crap out of him while he resurrects.
I know there are those videos of magus owning with viper/ammy/phoenix but I think Viper and Phoenix are absolutely terribly teammates unless you are confident you can rock standard phoenix. Viper is a total meter whore.
I actually am really liking the pair of Storm and Phoenix. Storm’s combos without meter do decent damage with Lightning attack, tri-jump can get her in, has some good resets, can play a keepaway/zoning game, her low pokes have good range, her whirlwind assist can lockdown just enough for an unexpected tele every now and then, and she’s great at building meter. I also really like the Hailstorm => Phoenix Inferno dhc.
Besides, if you used more than one Hailstorm than you’d like an X-Factored Phoenix can hold her own.
Vs Amateratsu. If Ammy does her full screen hyper and Phoenix transforms to DPh during it but the lightning part of the hyper hasn’t hit yet…
IT WILL HIT PHOENIX AS SHE TRANSFORMS/COMES OUT OF TRANSFORMATION
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
And obviously some combos don’t connect on Ammy like the other cast.
Like I said on the other phoenix topic:
I’ve been training with this combo:
Dormammu on point, just keep-the-f-away while charging 3-4 bars with morrigan.
switch phoenix.
fill the last bar(s) with morrigan while phoenix rushes/keepaway your opponent.
When phoenix dies, switch her for dormammu during the explosion of her revival.
You will be left with a half life(more or less) dormammu on point, full life morrigan to re-fill bars and full life Dphoenix(not to use as assist), from this point on you have two options:
a)End the fight with dormammu or morrigan on point which is what usually happens and I rarely get to play Dphoenix
b) play lose until phoenix is the last character, when she gets out, x-factor and unleash her and taunt(I AM THE DARK PHOENIX!). Done.
I really believe they work well together. I can use phoenix’s TK shot with wolverine for a midscreen OTG mixup. Doom keepaway with phoenix shot is decent tho I really don’t like to play doom that way. Phoenix with doom rocks is really nice for her fireball> tele mixup. I haven’t found much of a use with Doom with wolvy backup. I’ve also been able to switch from rushdown to keepaway pretty easily if it’s needed. I really like it so far.
I have a Haggar/Arthur/Wolverine team and am currently experimenting with a Phoenix team. Currently playing Modok/Morrigan/Phoenix. So far my strategy is flying off with Modok, shooting some beams and bombs and building meter with Morrigan. I really need some better tactics. I’m gonna try out Doom and Taskmaster instead of Modok.
I was wondering what you can do with Dark Phoenix. I usually keep here in and fire away. When I have a meter a use the forcefield HC and teleport above the oponent and rush him down to get some health back. I never switch here out actually (usually don’t have too ). Will she still be Dark Phoenix when switched? Will she heal?
m trying out Chris (Maybe Wesker soon), Haggar, Phoenix. Chris and Haggar don’t really need meter to do damage so Phoenix can have the meter. Chris is good for zoning, but I am terrible at anti-airing. Haggar’s double lariat assist really helps my anti-air game. I’m also liking TK Overdrive assist with Chris at a distance. He can cover her while she flies out, but I have to watch out for Supers (i.e. not being predictable). I’ve only started playing Haggar today, but we’ll see.
Dark Phoenix can be tagged out and she’ll still come out, and correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure her assists will also be better, and she heals red health much faster than a normal character.
This game is so much fun, but it’s going to piss me off so much
Right now I’ve been trying to use Hsien-Ko (pendulum) / Phoenix (phoenix shot) / X-23 (ankle slice).
As soon as possible i try to safely activate Hsien’s power up hyper to give her hyper armor for her pendulum assist then i put Phoenix on point. Hsien’s powered up pendulum can tank some damage since she doesn’t flinch while powered up and she has the potential to stop an enemy rush down and possibly open up a big combo opportunity with Phoenix. I can sometimes try to screw with the opponent’s head and teleport (or hop when X-23 is on point) behind them while they’re trying to block the pendulum assist and attempt to start some combos.
X-23’s ankle slice assist i use for:
-an OTG to continue some of Phoenix’s combos, although you have to usually use a teleport right after you press the assist button to get close enough to relaunch if you’re not in a corner.
-an unblockable setup with Phoenix’s :h: teleport -> (aerial):s: or Hsien-Ko’s spike ball special (it’s an overhead iirc).
Well I did some quick labbing last night and was trying to see if I can teleport out of some situations and attack.
Vs Storm’s Hail Storm. - Unless you teleport as Storm begins the animation and hit her before Storm does the “FREEZE!” saying, you’re gonna get hit. If you teleport behind her, you get hit. Above her, you get hit. Guess the best thing to do is to anticipate and superjump in the uppermost corner of the 2nd screen and fly to stay above it. Doesn’t matter if DPh or not.
Vs Sentinel’s Sentinel Force Hyper - You can teleport away after the activation AND after he points, but the problem is you’re gonna get hit with any of her teleport. The damn robots hit Jean when she goes behind Sent and above him. Doesn’t matter if it’s DPh or not.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
I’m gonna see if doing X-Factor and teleporting changes anything if I have time today.
After realizing that I suck with Morrigan and that her meter boost assist, while good, is unnecessary, I shopped around for another character to use with Doom and Phoenix. Wolverine on point works really well, this team is good. The only thing I would change is Phoenix’s assist. If you use her direct assist you can combo an instant overhead (air a) from Wolverine into air s > drill claw > dive kick… This is what Justin Wong was doing with Akuma’s assist at Wednesday Night Fights, it works with Phoenix’s as well. Wolverine + a direct assist and Doom rocks is just sick and both Doom and Wolverine can rack up the damage without burning meter.
I’ve been using Tron (Drill Assist) / Arthur (Fire Bottle) / Phoenix (TK Trap). It’s working pretty well. Tron is a very mobile tank who deals good damage and can push opponents into the corner. Regular Arthur builds meter ridiculously well against most people where I can play the zoning game (exceptions are quick teleporters and dormammu who’s zoning game just seems to be the perfect antidote to arthur’s zoning game). Then Phoenix. I actually use Phoenix quite a bit, I use drill assist to force my opponents to block then I’ll go for some teleport mixups. Arthur fire bottle assist is more to help Tron on point for OTG combos but Arthur when he’s on point builds meter and plays solid defense. Phoenix Trap assist helps arthur control the floor space in front of him in case someone gets funny ideas about ruining my zoning game and then I find that Dark Phoenix THREAT is just as much of a weapon as Dark Phoenix is. When I have 5 bars I can get away with crap against players because they’re afraid. Now I have a feeling that as people get more comfortable their attitude will change but right now, the team has surprising synergy and I think all three characters are really fun to play for different reasons.
