I think Akuma’s vortex doesn’t rely on KD anymore, but more on standing characters.

What is the optimal combo to do with Akuma after a launcher/Cross Rush?

Hi I just found akuma can cancel his charging ex move and the move he do after is a counter hit. you don’t have to be close and thier no time limit. but you can’t whiff or it goes away. this could be useful during footies for extra damage. cr.mp(counter hit), st.hk, st.hp or cr. mp (depend on distant) lk tatsu st.hp shoryuken.

I haven’t got the game yet since I’m on PC. Just wanna say though, does anyone use Raven X Akuma? I hear raven has some pretty hardcore mixups and I wanted to know if there is some good synergy with him and Akuma.

Oh and just something random, Misogi’s whiffed animation looks so sick haha. I wish he had that in AE (would be so broken).

damn man…dead here too huh. Well i was thinking of picking up akuma and seeing what are his best pairs. i was thinking of putting him with gief but he’d be on point cause he has ass for life but has some good footsies.

He has some pretty solid footsies, yeah. What makes Ryu worlds better than him is that he lacks frame traps and footsies that use a special move, as the cr. mk xx hadou string just isn’t what it once was. For example, Ryu has that donkey kick which is extremely good. Also, none of his moves except EX palm cause a wall bounce, and the move itself is VERY context-sensitive. Hell, I haven’t seen any good Akumas use it. The effectiveness of his sweep has also been greatly diminished due to less emphasis on UTKD’s. If there’s a balance patch I hope he receives some optimization for SFxT, something that can make him open characters up more.

I see Akuma as the poster boy for “character who was copy-pasted from SF4 without much attention to SFxT.”

Anyway since I don’t have the game yet, how does the charge super system work? I know every character has a charge move and if you charge it long enough it turns into a super? Does that eat meter? And everyone has 2 supers right, so what does akumas turn into? Demon or misogi?

charge cancel dash isn’t as good as ryu. akuma doesn’t have good close up pressure tool like ryu but he can teleport away and force ryu to come to him. I like using akuma because I wanna see if I can land that 1 frame link after tatsu into st.HP shoryuken. he’s a fun character as keep away. I pair him up with xioyu.

please patch this man. give us some better combos!

I tried the game for the first time tonight. Not really feelin Akuma…dang. I paired him up with Raven and raven does most of the work. I managed to learn his cr.hp dash cancel combo pretty fast, that shit alone does like 500 dmg. I’m just using AE combos with Akuma right now and they are pretty weak in comparison…just played through arcade mode on hardest and was wtfing at how hard it is to anti air anything in this game. You have characters like Hworang who fly across the screen and jump on your face.

He has great corner combos, but he is looking like the worst of the 3 shotos here.

I’ll say one thing I found out, akuma can cancel the recovery of his normals into raging demon, so they block a sweep and try to punish you BAM they eat a demon, but this is already known. What isn’t that well known in SFxT is the same applies for any normal he chained into as well. So if you chain cr.mp to cr.hk and they block, the chained cr…hk will have longer recovery than a normal one, so if the opponent knows that (and people usually do know that chained normals = easier to punish) you can demon anyway.

Did not know you can cancel a chained, blocked sweep. Wow. Thx bro!

So what exactly is the optimum thing to do after a lk tatsu? I do st.mp into mp srk since it works on everyone I’ve tried it on, and I know st.hp works but it’s a 1-frame link. I saw the midscreen far st.hk stuff but I don’t know if that does more.

In other combo related news, I love Akuma’s corner combos. I can use 2 bars (with gief) to get 550+ damage or get 600 by himself with 3.

Tag during the SRK, continue the combo. Depending on what finisher you do using your other character, you can tag back in to Akuma for an extra SRK.

Just wondering has anyone done any of Akuma’s trials? I’m stuck on the one that requires you to dash after a demon flip or something? St.hk > demon flip > dash

I bet its the charge cancel thing but it’s so fucking hard to do this on Akuma when doing charge cancels on characters like Raven are piss easy.

Trial 19? Ya it’s one of the harder ones. You have to do it as fast as possible, and just so you know, a lot of times you will cross under your opponent making you have to input the srk in reverse. You’ll get it eventually.
