Misogi is actually easy to avoid. It hits overhead so you can jump back or forward, or simply walk back when the animation starts. The thing is it is also easy to punish with it. if you are doing something when the animation starts, you’ll get hit (espacially raw tags and fireballs)
If anyone is interested I did some testing and off of Akuma’s non-chained sweep [hard knockdown] the opponent wakes up 50 frames after the sweep recovers. What’s even more interesting is that if they decide to roll they begin rolling on frame 19. This means you can do something like c.MP, c.MP, s.HK, dash forward do the motion for demon flip and press the button a moment later to OS depending on whether not they roll.
Ok, I just did some testing too and I would agree with you. If the opponent is blocking first, they can jump out. If they aren’t blocking before the demon starts they can’t jump out.
Can anyone else confirm this? I really hope this wasn’t intended behavior.
EDIT: I just tried this online too in the Briefing room with a friend. Same behavior. I haven’t tried in Endless or Versus yet.
I don’t play Akuma or sfxt that match, but once in awhile I like to fool around in training mode. Anyway, hope this short corner combo might be of some use.

You can still juggle with your partner; You tag them during you hard shoryu.
I just tested this online in an Endless match with a buddy of mine, it is in fact the way it works. I also tested ticking into the demon with a crouch jab. I’m not a robot but I could pull it off successfully in SF4 (and also off cr.MP.) I wasn’t able to get it to work. However whiffing a jump in (or crossup) while the opponent is blocking still works.
Has anyone been able to work out the timing for ticking into the demon or is that different now too?
I hope this isn’t an intended change as that would make Demon a less offensive tool.
you can do c.MP, c.MP > s.HK on a blocking opponent and toward the end of the s.HK you can buffer in demon and the opponent cannot get away.

Ya, I’m a bit shocked by that one too. Given the way the T+MP kara demon works (or doesn’t) you’d think that they’d be able to get out of the HK buffered one as well.
I think it was just made for f.MP into demon to not work. Last night at our local bar tournament I caught a guy with c.MP, c.MP xx MP demon flip > palm, raging demon. Akuma flips over them and you do LP for palm and just buffer in the rest of the demon. So as soon as everyone else stops crying that they can’t fake overhead into demon anymore or that akuma doesn’t have a vortex, the faster we can get on with figuring out what he does have.
also if you do the demon from the c.MP, c.MP > s.HK correctly, even if they try to do a normal it won’t come out fast enough, so you don’t have to worry about getting hit out of it.
Ya, I figured stuff like that would still work. Also that’s cool that they can’t hit you if you buffer off HK.
What’s perplexing to me about the way f.MP kara demon doesnt work. It works if they aren’t blocking. But if they are, boom he’s out. Also doesn’t jive with the way the rest of the command grab supers work.

how come i keep getting punished when i try to roll, teleport? i keep getting punished before my teleport comes out.
do they add start up frames if akuma tries to teleport after a wakeup roll??

Yeah, same here. Starting to think better of the character but they need to buff his dive kick arsenal. As it stands there is no practical use for that move.
