Thanks for the info, I plan on checking it out. It’s apparently at a bar named “Fish Market”. I think you should check it out even if you play on pad, I doubt it’ll cause any issue.
I think it actually is an issue when you start needing to configure the buttons everytime you get on. If there are a bunch of people waiting to play and button checks need to be made and configured after every match… yeah.
Everyone checks buttons when they get on. I’m not sure what you’re on about.
At fish bar? I don’t make the rules dude. They usually have two sticks configured in the basic set up and they leave it at that
LP MP HP
LK MK HK
There is no need to reconfigure everything when people switch.
Eh, usually button checks can be done in 30 seconds or less, unless someone is using a really unorthodox button configuration. If it is more than 5-6 people waiting to play on a single setup though I can see why it’d be annoying. But button checks are pretty standard even at the start of casual matches.
Jesus christ, what about “they are not my rules” does everyone not understand?
I’ve played at break and fish bar and it is no pads and I’ve played at next level and 8 bit where they allow pads.
I’m quite aware of how long things take and what people do.
That being said I’ve also been subject to a 2 minute manual config which sucked donkey.
I believe you, so no need to get angry. It’s the reason I never go to the fish one. I figured they said it for a reason. It’s their rules, it’s their thing, I’m not going to force them to change. That’s USA: freedom also includes freedom to exclude.
Well if you want to play there are always the 8-bit sessions (what the thread is supposed to be about). You get a nice range of players, I just find it tough to be in St. Marks on a Friday summer night looking out the window between rounds at scantily clad women prowling the streets.
Speaking of which, any ETA on when these will start up again?
I don’t know but either Phire or sk will know I assume. Probably best to join the facebook group.
Anyone hear anything from Facebook? I don’t have an account so I can’t check.
Think friday is off
Salty Battles is today(friday) you guys should come out and check out the venue.
Sessions are back up, but there won’t be one today. Most likely there will be one on Sunday.

Sessions are ON tonight for Sunday Sept 4th @ 7pm. We’ll be playing SSF4:AE, MvC3, 3S:OE and other random games every Friday and Sunday night unless otherwise noted so feel free to stop by and say hello. Last weekend we had the ‘hurricane’ and trains were shutdown so we’re back in full force now.
could you give me the address?
Just moved from Seattle for school at NYU. Excited for the next session!
I’ll probably make it to the session this upcoming Sunday.
Do more people show up on Friday or Sunday night nowadays?
