Wow…the Mets have just been eliminated. Talk about a choke job. On the other hand, thumbs up to the Phillies for hanging in there 'till the end.
Padres are rallying in the top of the 9th. Scored 2 runs already.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Mets suck.
Wow possible 1 game playoff for actual playoff spot haha now that some real shit!
Mets are a joke to blow that lead they had I guess when everyone got on the Phillies ass for the 10,000th lost it really boosted them up to start playing.
Redsox/Cubs world series…that would be cool… and lol at the mets, the pitching fucked up…and the offense too, they sucked so much this month…
The Cubs have to achieve 100 years of stinking it up. So, no dice for this year. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Yankees/Phillies World Series.
east coast ain’t gonna do it…Angels over Phillies I predict. (they really began pushing near the end…cubs gonna fuck up like they always do)
Padres have to use Peavy on the mound today at Colorado. This is going to fuck them up big time if they win this game, since they can’t use him for a few days.
Peavy is 4-4 in his career against the Rockies, 3-3 career at Coors Field where they’re playing. He allowed 6 ER in his last start there.
San Diego is going to regret blowing those last two games against Milwaukee.
In case anybody’s wondering the game between the Rockies and Padres is on TBS tonight at 7:30PM EST.
Ah, Peavy.
Bottom 1st.
Bases Loaded.
0 Outs.
Let’s see how this goes.
I would watch this game but it fucking Monday that mean Monday Night Football.
I am rooting for the Rockies !!!
Oh man this game is great.
Rockies take a 3-0 lead.
Fogg gives up a grand slam to make it 4-3 Padres.
Padres make it a 5-3 game.
Rockies come back to make it a tie game 5-5 in the 5th.
I am enjoying this. THIS is a playoff game.
What a fucking game. Cheering for the rockies but wow the Padres got screwed there.
Damn what a game. Matt Holliday for fuckin MVP. He comes up big after almost blowing it. Although it seemed he didn’t touch the plate. I didn’t like how the umpire called him safe. No intensity, makes it seem kind of anti-climactic. I’m cheering for the Rockies through these playoffs. Go Rockies go.
Amazing win by the Rockies. The peeps here are going crazy.
I thought for sure that Holiday was out. He never tagged the plate, lol.
it was a good game overall. too bad for padres
Not even Jorge Julio could fuck it up for the Rockies.
Winning despite having Jorge Julio in your pen = GDLK
Every spot need to have a tournament for the finals and make it sudden death. (march madness, NFL)
It bring out the best competitive spirits in people and put on on hell of a show.
That was a good game I actually stop watching the football game cause the Bengals blow and started watching this instead.
This game hurts Trevor Hoffman’s legacy in my opinion. One of the greatest closers of all time the all time saves leader can’t hold a lead when everybody else is tired and he’s fresh. This does not look good.
Especially considering that he blew the second last game of the regular season as well, which would have made this game unnecessary. Just an ugly stretch for him.
Though that’s some instant history mentality right there thinking that this would significiantly affect the legacy of the all time saves leader. Hoffman’s never had a storied big game/postseason legacy anyway (versus Rivera, for instance) and to be honest, I think blowing a big game in the playoffs would have been worse for him.
Like for example, when I think of Dennis Eckersley, I don’t immediately think of him as the first ballot hall of famer, 390 career saves, one of only two players to have a 20 win season and a 50 save season.
First thing I think about is Kirk Gibson in the '88 World Series.
…actually, that’s a lie, the first thing I think about is Roberto Alomar in the '92 ALCS.
You love that instant history thing, don’t you Matrix? Remember that Trevor Hoffman and the Padres went all the way to the '98 World Series, and got swept by the Yankees - and Hoffman blew Game 3. And '98 was his best career season, with 53 saves and a 1.48 ERA - still all career highs.
He had already blown a World Series game and has yet to win a ring or even significantly advance into the postseason ever since - I fail to see how blowing a wild card playoff game against the Rockies (anything with the Rockies is instantly forgetable) affects his (ringless) first ballot Hall of Fame career at all.
Personally I think closers are overrated as a whole. They come into a game with nobody on base most of the time and all they have to do is preserve the lead of 3 runs or fewer usually for one inning. They’re a niche position like designated hitter and how many of those guys are in the hall-of-fame.
Trevor Hoffman wasn’t really that great of a closer most of the time anyways. He only had one Rolaids relief award. The other seasons were good but hardly spectacular. He just happened to stay healthy enough and stuck around with one team long enough to compile enough stats. In the regular season he wasn’t dominant. It goes without saying in the postseason.
It’s troubling to me that when his team needed him the most he came up the least. He wasn’t great in the regular season. He certainly wasn’t great in the postseason. Sorry but overrated closers don’t get into my hall-of-fame.I’ll assume that you were joking when you said he’s a **first ballot **hall-of-famer. There’s no chance in hell of that happening.
