The 2nd KOFXII Thread (debuting at AM Show in September)

amen. also look at, lets say kyo. kyos stand C priority, along with his stand D, which out stretches athenas every attack. all her low and high attacks mind you. so normally from a distance like that you would throw a firebal, but wait, kyo can kick you out of it with his far reaching D and CC your ass to another dimension along with 50% od your health. just by kicking you out of your firebal from a certain distance. no meter needed, no nothing. how is this a grwat system? you know what would have been great? multiple supers for every character, super pause, super cancels, ex moves. but what does snkp do, CC. fuck man.

Kensou looks like he lost a move or two, but dude had a lot in XI anyway. Still, his lack of fireball and the remove of his second anti air kick special aren’t going to kill him. I hope.

i know its possible to stop fireballs by clashing. lets just hope it doesnt count for power geyser, ho sho koken and kyo orochinagi.

also the games 80% done? theres still chance that we might get some shit fixed and tweaked. i just hope they get some chinese or koreans to do the game testing for it, cause these japs they used suck major ass. i know theres good japanese players, but wqhere the fuck they be? if this was a honk kong loketest, wed probably be seeing EVERYTNIG that would be possible in the game.

I was just thinking the other day, and this is a serious question. **Are we entering a new “golden age” of fighting games? **I mean for a period of years there, there was almost nothing new on the fighting game front. And anything new was some kind of rehash and NOTHING different.

Now we’ve gotten a “new” Street Fighter, and a NEW Street Fighter, a revival of KoF into hi res, Arc Systems moving on from Guilty Gear one character updates to make something completely new, a Capcom Vs. game…and surely some new 3D games will follow suit if this barrage of fighting games sell enough. Good times ahead.

Also…Clark and Ralf are retarded huge and awesome looking, can we get jacked Hiedern please? Joe Higashi is just too thin…he should at least be Tony Jaa big. skinny is cool, but that dude looks not one pound over 115

Why’re there so many haters on this game? The animation in this game is incredible, and so far the gameplay looks like it’ll be fun, which is what a game should be! Too many ppl expecting hardcore tourney material. I’m going to import this day one on console, then pick up the domestic version a year later!

p.S. I’ve seen kensou shoot a giant fireball, so is that a super or DM.

I think this game is suffering from the Battle Fantasia syndrome, a game conceived to have an oldschool feel that had to include some combo happy mechanic because otherwise it would be considered antiquated or slow by the combo happy crowd.

I dunno about CC breaking the game yet. Maybe in the final, clashes can have different properties than naked attacks.

lol… have you seen videos?? you just fucking mash jab and you’ll clash with the fireball; it’s not rocket science. As it stands, the only useful projectiles in the game look to be Ash’s shermie kiss fireball and haoshokoukens. More important than fireball clashing is that air attacks will clash with antiairs, which is such a fucking horrible idea.

And I never even IMPLIED that Critical Combo was like A2 CCs, i said it was a stupid idea that greatly rewards players for doing nothing more than interrupting a special move with a hard attack. 35%+ damage for that? nothx

except WE DO. it happens when you counter a special move with a hard attack… Not really too hard to THEORYFIGHTERLOLZ around that.

Oh and I forgot, Joe does look great too.

I just wish SNK would revise the HUD and character select screen. Going through the trouble to have nice sprites and then using HUD from 1995 really don’t help the game’s presentation. I want the game even though only 9 srkers will play it looks like fun.

Game has ass presentation and HUD, I really hoped they would have improved it since XI, but this looks far worse.

Onto another subject though, there really seems to be a relation with Street Fighter IV here.

When trailers were first released of that, everyone was criticizing the graphics, but said the gameplay looked solid at that early stage.

Now, no one is criticizing the graphics of XII, but the gameplay systems here seem like a clusterfuck of ideas that make no logical sense.

I think the simplistic HUD was intentional so that most of your focus is on how beautiful the game looks. I personally dont see it as a big deal but I guess they could of polished it a bit better.

The HUD looks worse than Mugen. You don’t make HUDS purposefully bad to draw more attention to sprites you make the HUD complement the sprites so the overall presentation is good. The HUDS are terrible and don’t distinguish anything. The character portraits are barely visible under the lifebar making them pointless for a player to even know the order of the oppponent’s character without some iconic resemblance and that’s still hard to see because they’re so small.

I don’t believe SNK made a design choice–I just think they’re just rushing the game out at this point, or the HUDS aren’t complete.

Im nearly certain I read that only Hard attacks can clash with fireballs and other special moves.

IF, and im just speculating…

1.) Light attacks clash with Hard attacks but leave you at an advantage
2.) Hard attacks clash with weak attacks leaving you disadvantaged AND clash with specials, sometimes leaving you advantaged or activating Critical mode and
3.) Specials beat weak attacks clean

You have yourself a nice little game of weighted paper-rock-scissors. Like that Yomi card game.

I personally think it has more to do with the team being in a rush to get this game out and make some money. The latest new SNKP games to be released were KOF MI Regulation A and a Metel Slug on the DS, and despite being a bit successful, it couldn’t have made that much cash. And ports of older games aren’t going to bring in to much bank no matter how they dress them up.

This sort of undertaking they are doing with KOF XII is expensive, they are probably trying to get the game out, recoup some money and start on the next game using the sprites they completed with this game.

I almost wouldn’t be surprised if they re-released Fatal Fury 2 or Special on Live or PSN after putting out KOF XII, just to get a quick buck on a game with a smaller cas of characters with the new sprites.

That would be pathetic if only 9 srkers go for this game.

Regardless on what people think of the mechanics at this stage (which is all theory), EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THIS FORUM should support this game when it comes out.

How many other completely new HD sprite based fighters are there these days? More importantly, how many of those ever make it to the states?

I would be very disappointed in the FG community if people refuse to give KOFXII a try…because that would mean that, as usual, SNK is catering to a niche audience that doesn’t appreciate just how insanely loyal SNK is to the genre.

I don’t care if clash turns out to be the most broken system ever (which it probably won’t), people need to buy this game when it comes to the states.

Gotta support fighting game companies that make genuine efforts. Crazy, time consuming, risky, money-losing, genuine efforts.

Please explain what happens at 2:56 because to me it looks like 2 normal moves clash and kensou gets the counter critical.

I’m going to be playing it too. Gotta get my hands on the game to decide if to me it’s worth playing. That or all the characters I want to play just suck ass thus killing the game for me.

Oh i’m mostly just pissed about antiair clashes; i’m pretty fine with the normal clash system, as long as it gets refined.

Don’t get me wrong people, I will definitely be playing THE FUCK out of this game and supporting it if (CHICAGO PLEASE GET A PREMIEREEE lol) it comes here, i’ve just been really angry with the vast majority of design decisions, and these last couple just made me more mad.

Also since I no longer have a complete team now! rawr
