The 2nd KOFXII Thread (debuting at AM Show in September)

Has Chin ever been good in KOF? I never hear of anyone playing him.

I honestly think some stuff will definantly be tweaked, I just hate the idea of custom combos, they always seem to lead to shennanigans, especially how kof xii is implementing it. It could turn out to be a sucess, but Iwould still proably hate it. Oh well

Also I will be buying this game as well, everyone should.

He was majorly broken in 96, he was OK in 95 his super blocked was like 30 to 45%

Chin was top in 96.

A way to fix clashes IMO (besides of the only truly good one that would be completely removing them from the game, but that won’t happen) would be to:

1- Remove air clashes (so there aren’t free meaty jump ins and they can’t clash with AAs)
2- Only moves of the same kind can clash (specials with specials, Cs and Ds with Cs and Ds, and so on)

Clashing vs DPs was a BAD idea. Especially since DPs aren’t that strong in KOF anyway.

Depends on the KOF really. If they are trying to go for a semi oldschool KOF feel they could make DPs not suck again though.

Yeah but that clashing system… could really negate the use of DPs as AAs.

One thing that I found to be stupid on SNK’s part, not a big issue really, why the hell does Clark MUST have the Vulcan Punch or whatever that rapidfire punch special is back AGAIN? That’s just stupid. Keep Ralf and Clark as different as possible.

I really, really hope clashing and those customs don’t break this game.

I’m worried as hell about it. I want to like this game, but my head is telling me not to expect much.

Dunno, maybe he can combo into the airgrab or something? I don’t know if Clark has his airgrab here though.

Clashing was a great idea to add into KoF but like most of you guys, I’m not so certain I like it that much anymore. It looks like it’ll need a lot of tweaking.

Man, Clark’s antiair grab sucked balls anyway. Air throwing was way more effective.

Doesnt GG have a clashing system? It doesnt seem to be a huge issue in those games (Though it does seem to work differently to)

Ah it just came to me strong attacks on wakeup should be brutal.

I dint see anyone abusing those in the vids though…hmmm.

Clashing happens so sporadically in Guilty Gear that it’s not an issue at all.
I like the idea of KoF having a clashing system but I also think it happens way to frequently in the videos we have seen. It’s almost like the concept of priority doesn’t even exist in this game.

Clashing isnt a bad idea just, that they made the risk reward, skewed with the custom combo like system.

Basically I see kof xii playing similiar to most kofs, but striking(as in hitting) specials are going to be weakened by the clashing sytem and I guess doing dp specials on wakeup(though wake up situations are much more rare to see than in capcom game) might not be so smart, guessing when to use heavy or light attacks could be fun I guess. I still do not think that clashing a special with a heavy attack should lead into some custom combo system. This is all just theory though.

Basically I like everything so far about the game…except the custom combo like thing they have going on, but like I said it could work out.

I wonder how easy it is to clash as well.

Like I said this is all just speculation, all this kof talk makes me want to play some 98 again lol.

On lighter a note Mai not in HD makes me cry at night. Im kind of doubtful too that SNK will make more of these incredible sprites, which im sure takes alot of time and money, just for the console version.

So either we get more characters in the arcade and console, or this the final character count.

I think it’s a bit early to be trying to abuse anything, game aint even finished.
You’ll just have to trust snkp and there testers.
I think cronopios idea where same strength buttons clash or special v special is probably better than how it stands now

It’s not only specials that lead to the counter critical even normals can get you the counter critical by the looks of things, take a look at that example i posted earlier, the first one iori v kensou, kensou gets a CCH vs ioris down hk, i’ve also seen one where clark gets hit by one during a lk

On a side note i think certain characters cd can be held for gc, and i swear it’s the annoucer from neo turf masters i recognize that voice anywhere

yeah all characters can hold their CD for guardcrush, but you can counter this by using your own held CD

also it looks like in this build you can still cancel into CD attacks, as well as juggle after them freely (no counterhit required).

LOL,talk about deja vu.This deadlock is the exact thing that happened to SF4.
Gameplay vids are released and the usual rabbling occurs.Then when its announced that the game is coming out sooner that expected the rabble turns into rants and flaming from tourney players (no offense) and so-called fanboys.

But here’s where it gets interesting.The game is released and finally available to fans to try it out.Some people like it,some people hate it,whoop de freakin do!Months later after the heat dies off its released on console.Now critics get to try and review based of their opinion(like it really matters,except for F.Yagami)and fans and tournament players have it in their hands.What’s the point of this long post you say?The point is that the ones who say that they dont like the game(for their own reasons,wont go into detail) will eventually turn the left cheek and play the game.I mean look at Brawl,BlazBlue and SF4.

Now disagree,flame me,spam me if u want!I DONT CARE!But at some point u have to agree that part of what i said is true.All in all,KOF XII looks good and the CC system doesnt seem that bat…AT THE TIME!
