That parry/canned CD is basically SNK’s solution to having a CD counter in a meterless game. From what I’ve seen, it sucks. Kim did a cr.B and Kyo parries it, then Kim does a cr.A, and the cr.A gets absorbed or w/e, but it almost has time to recover by the time Kyo’s CD hit. So basically you should be able to see the blue effect and just block. Super easy to safe jump on, too. I’d rather have it suck, though. Is it really needed in this game anyway?
Kamui re: new CD attack
That’s the first thing that came to my mind as well. Perhaps a late addition after seeing how it worked in SFIV, or merely a coincidence?
Dandy J:
“meter-less game”? You think SNK is going to leave out super meter in the final version? I sincerely doubt it. Didn’t they say the build at the AM show has unlimited super stocks for the players?
aegis neglector:
Show KoFXII to someone who doesn’t know anything about fighting games, or is very casual when it comes to games, period, and they won’t be excited by the way it looks. Because at that level, it’s not much different looking to its predecessors. The graphic leap is only noticeable if you’re a close follower of fighters.
damn man i wana see some jhun in here. i cant imagine how his sprite would look in this game wit that kick ass stance of his
kof13 maybe i will get my dream team lin/jhun/eiji
Ok so we got Leona and Andy. Now I just need Takuma, Eiji and/or King and I’ll have a team.
Robert better be in this ish!
The graphic leap is noticeable to anyone with a functional pair of eyes.
Yeah Robert’s def in.
I think it’s more that most people just don’t care abut 2D art. Several years ago I was hanging with some people that were playing guilty gear (I think #r), and some kid came up, probably no older than 14, pretty sure he was into Battlefield 1942 or something, says something about it being ‘nintendo 2’. So there ya go.
He has a crazy, botched giant swing in FF: Wild Ambition (where, unlike King or Wolf Hawkfield, he hits the victims head on the ground a few times)…I doubt that’ll make it since Wild Ambition was 3D and giant swings are easier to do in 3D. He also has some lightning ground pound move, but I doubt that’ll make it, either.
Raiden is 14 years in the making for KoF…wasn’t he originally meant to be in '94?
That trailer and Robert look very slick. This game is like a dream come true for all the folks who wondered what KOF would look like in the style of Garou or AOF3.
Looks like they want the clash system to turn into a central gameplay element, rather than a random event. Maybe like a kind of guard impact, where the move with faster recovery gets a free hit or frame advantage? Maybe you can throw out a jab instead of blocking, get a clash, then combo or super…?
Oh I just saw this. I didn’t know that…so there’s no info on how exactly supers will be, right? Like, right now they are slow and can really only combo fro that big ch stun. Do you think when there’s meters, they are gonna be fast like they normally are? It would be very strange to keep them that slow. I’m assuming there will be super freeze added and the startup made normal. Either way I dunno, I was kind of warming up to the idea of the specific ways to combo into supers.
it seems like there’s not a whole lot of gameplay issues that are superfleshed out, and that this was more of a “hey we didn’t forget that we said we were making kof here it is ain’t it gorgeous?” than anything else.
i’m sure we’ll see more of the game develop as loketests start rolling out for it.
That was a nice trailer. Ralf has a Potemkin/Goro earthquake. :woot:
Time to make guesses on characters:
20 characters = 6 teams of 3 + 2 solo fighters
Team 1
Ash
Shen
…
Team 2
Kyo
Benimaru
…
Team 3
Ryo
Robert
…
Team 4
Ralf
Leona
…
Team 5
Terry
Kim
…
Team 6
Athena
…
…
Those are all the playables so far right. Now fill in the blanks.
Raiden is probably on the FF team
and I’d place Iori and Kyo together before Kyo and Benimaru
Kyo Beni Daimon is classic Japan team. All 3 of them are in the game, and I’d bet on them all being on the same team. And Kyo and Iori have only been on the same team once, in XI, and it might’ve been a single entry thing storyline-wise, cause it was Kyo/Iori/Shingo, and all of them have been single entry at some point, especially Kyo and Iori.
Assuming info and conjecture on Goro, Raiden, Iori, Elisabeth, Billy, and Andy is true… man.
I’d think it like this:
Team 1
Ash
Shen
Raiden?
Team 2
Kyo
Benimaru
Goro
Team 3
Ryo
Robert
Billy?
Team 4
Ralf
Leona
…
Team 5
Terry
Kim
Andy
Team 6
Athena
Elisabeth
…
Single Entries: Iori, …
so iori might be a lone soul ala 97 again. athena might hook up with mai and king or yuri. i dont care which it is (hope king though, yuri looks better while king is a more fun fighter for me) as long as mai is in it. it would be murder to make a totally new kof with them sprites and all without mai. also, where the fuck is yamazaki? with these teams and tese spots, i dont see him in it. nor k or some of the other major players.
kof13
Elisabeth will either Team up with Ash or Athena (women team) Raiden with Terry (Fatal fury)
Goro with Kyo and Iori will fight alone.
Those are my bets. And the “real” team will probably be an edit team of Elisabeth, Kyo and Iori.
