Well done! Just testing you guys to see how big your Capcom knowledge is.
eh 3d models look great if its a 3d fighter but for 2d it just looks dumb. in sf4 most char models look just fucking stupid ie Ken. I cant wait for blazblue.
People allways forget that game companys are in it for the money.
Meh. Most will probably say I’m just a fanboy for 2-D and that its the only reason I know that and that I’m a scrub because I’m not talking about the competitive aspect of SF although I was in the scene for a few years. Whatever, lol. No way I could unsee that when I first saw it in game.
I think that is a function of the art style more than anything. It’s like using cell-shading for 3d models it either looks good or it looks like ass (See POP 2k8) there is no real middle ground. SF4 lucked out and managed to look good colour wise though the character models themselves are a different story for some characters.
i c your point but im just not a fan of 3d models on a 2d plane. leave the 3d to tekken sc and vf.
and that can’t be done
again of why the importance of sprites
Indeed, the closest that was ever achieved was with the KOFMI series and for a 3d game, it has crazily sped up and choppy animations to maintain that 2d feeling. It became its own beast that plays pretty well for its own, but it not exactly the 2d KOF. there’s just something with using 3d models in a 2d plane that changes the “feel” of the game, its very noticeable after a while.
We ain’t noobs?
SF4 should have been 2D by outsourcing to ARC or someone else.
I mean I waited for the game to finally be done and judged it again and I can’t believe DOA4 and hell even DOA2 looks better.
If I really want 3D bouncing boobies, I might as well get SC4.
SF4 looks like it was made for Street Fighter vs Clayfighters 4.
KOF 12 looks pretty good, but they can’t/aren’t hiding the 3D as well as ARC did in BB.
???
WTF are you doing here? Sounds to me like you hate all the fighting games.
Your precious 2D sprites are actually just being painted over 3D models. KFXII is just SF4 with a different coat of paint. Same for Blazblue.
Still looks better,
I guess. I think SF4 KOFXII and BB all look quite fantastic. Was playing SF4 at a friends today on his HDTV and it looked superb. Circle jerk SNK all you want for going “2D” (they didn’t really) least Capcom was smart enough to not put the jelly roll parade in it’s back rounds. Them bitches be ugly.
Yeah Rufus ain’t so hot either. Who the hell cares about whether they’re 2D or 3D?
Your right he’s not but he’s just one guy. them bitches be in the hundreds…It’s scary if you think about it someone spend many many MANY hours drawin them chubby bitches. That’s a hell of a fetish.
I don’t see why I need to even debate this…who cares, really. What’s done is done. I just can’t get into sluggish 2.5D graphics which feel clunky. I still play and like SFIV, though.
Also, 2.5D done well imo would be TvC.
SF4 still uses polygonal graphics and KoF12 and Blaz Blue still have flat sprites. SNk wanted that look so sprites have depth. I guess they are stencils and not technically hand drawn but the final affect fits the description.
I think SF4 is great and looks great btw. It’s apparently giving Capcom the numbers they wanted so I guess it was the right choice. And SNK’s decision is working out for their niche market(in the US anyway).
I didn;t know we really cared. Thought this was casual conversation…TVC does looks great but it’s using a very different graphical set that looks extremely flat compared to 4 giving you different effect.
I thought it wasn’t, based upon the way you phrased things, and because of your responses in the 2d companies thread.
