SF4 is “reluctantly 3D”, doing everything it can to maintain a 2D spirit, from painter-like textures to strict 2D gameplay to exaggerated 2D-style animation.
While KOFXII is “reluctantly 2D”, doing everything possible to give the game a realistic, 3D flair…going as far as rigging and animating 3D models, tracing them, and simulating their light sources.
Capcom and SNK are azz-backward and insane. And, that’s why we love them.
Just saw that footage. The normals look smooooove. Some animations are a little rougher, but the vast majority is looking quite awesome.

Thanks to the person who posted the vid, the game looks incredible, much better than in the screens. Just wish I knew a thing about KoF because learning 3 characters in a series I spent next to no time with isn’t going to be a cakewalk. Hope the TKD (?) guy with glasses and K’ are in it.
Fat white ladies acting crazy in the background + metrosexual men fighting in the foreground = hilarity though.
Looking good so far and did anyone notice how at times Shen would do a 360 turn animation when getting hit? It reminds me of the ground counter hits in Garou which could be what is happening there.
k’ is in it for sure. kula is highly doubtful. if that is the final roster, w/ 9 slots left:

it make sense to make the roster small since they wanted this to be the “best fighting game ever!” i think falcoon or nona said that.
edit: diggin all the re-designs/throwbacks for leona and ralf. ryo looks like akuma in the game haha. i bet they were like yea shen woo looks too much like ryo

Pretty sure that was bullshit; with the most widely accepted rumor being they used 3D models as frames of reference (what kotaku ended up saying). Even that had nothing solid to back it up though.
