The 2020-21 NBA Thread: Raptors in 7

Malik Monk jumper so damn wet. And dude has like every offensive tool. He’s going to be a damn problem.

About time Hornets draft something useful besides Kemba

Dennis Smith almost had a triple double. Maybe he’ll finally start making noise in the rookie rankings.

LOL cavs almost again and raptors too almost ruining that 10-72 record.

Thoughts on the knicks/hornets game:

  • the Knicks overcame a double digit deficit in the second half on back to back games
  • O’quinn is really playing the second best basketball on this team all season. He is a beast consistently and I thought Phil was crazy asking for a late 1st rounder for him but he may have been on to something
  • Monk is so damn cold… alot of teams will regret passing on him, including the Knicks
  • the hornets defended Porzingod the best I’ve seen any team all season. After scoring 15 in the first 6 minutes he was held to 11 points the rest of the way (partially because the second unit led by Quinn and dougy mcbuckets played so well, KP was actually hurting the team because he couldn’t shake dwight)
  • this is the most fun knicks team since they won 50+ games and JR was the 6th man of the Year, they need more consistent pg play and the French Prince isn’t ready for that, but he’s played clutch minutes and the entire 4th tonight even though he was pretty awful on both ends of the floor.

As a Knicks fan, this is the most fun stretch of basketball since Linsanity, everyone is playing within their roles and it’s great to see them pull the W with a largely ineffective KP pretty much the entire 3rd and most of the 4th.

As far as charlotte they shot the 3 like GS. No way they are that good beyond the arch, but it was my first game watching them so idk.

Additionally why charlotte was so effective vs kp was letting Williams face him one on one, and when he didn’t turn and shoot over the smaller man they just crashed on him. They were so physical with him and the refs just let them play. There was a stretch where Dwight knocked him down 3 times before dougy mcbuckets finally hit the shot.

hornets choked big time finishing with a 4-16 run or something. They were shooting well and in the 4th quarter they missed like five 3s in a row FTL

man, okc ain’t shit, huh?

struggling vs the 1 and 8 kings. not a good look.

5 IN A ROW. EMBIID DIDN’T EVEN NEED TO PLAY.

EVEN ADAM SILVER CAN’T STOP THE PROCESS NOW. FUCKING SNAKE FAMILY CAN’T STOP US. SIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

STOMP YA FEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!

Westbrook needs help he can’t do it alone /s.

I went to lunch today and the cook called the Suns the worst franchise in the NBA. Of course the Suns are back in the mainstream media for all the wrong reasons.

This has to be part of some Major League master plan on Sarver’s part: tank the team until the city no longer wants anything to do with them when the arena lease is up next year, then cash in by moving the team to Vegas where he can be looked at as a hero while he surrounds himself with call girls. Hopefully he says something racist or xenophobic before then so he can be exiled by the NBA and a savior can come and save the day.

NBA wants nothing to do with Vegas though unlike the NFL.

Damn, I guess I should hope he wants to move the team to SoVA then so I can go see the Suns play more often! I heard Virginia Beach/Norfolk was looking to get the Kings…

A team in south VA would be interesting. I don’t think there would be much overlap either with the wizards.

Is Seattle done being cheap? I’d figure they would be next on the list for a team.

Seattle isn’t being cheap they are being smart, publicly funded stadiums are a disaster and never get enough of a return to offset the cost.

You can be cheap and smart at the same time. I would figure if they want a team that’s what it’s going to take, at least partially funded or tax abeited

Lonzo Ball looks like Sideshow Drake.

Not worth it really isn’t, it raises taxes in a place with an already high tax rate and doesn’t bring in enough income to offset the price. They have been a money scam for years. Stern also set the precident when he stated it has to be predominantly publicly funded.

From a city planning stand point I suppose not. As a selfish fan though that would be a different story. It’s really a sucky situation for smaller cities though. Major market teams can afford to fund their own stadiums while smaller markets need subsidies or else they threaten to leave.

I lived in st.louis when the rams left and saw all the stages of grieving. It started with this there’s no way they are leaving to, no way we are giving into those demands, kick rocks to ultimately here is just about everything you want. In that situation I don’t think the city had a shot at keeping that team though, they were dead set on leaving.

I haven’t looked into all the financial implications of a team in a not big market so I really don’t know the worth of an NBA franchise at this point in regards to a city.
