Hopkins got rich. 81 mil with a massive 49 of that guaranteed over 5 years.
Honestly heās worth it, he makes ridiculous catches, his hands and body control are incredible. He has really good situational awareness as well, sheds blockers and even blocks well himself when the Texans decide to run the ball out of the spread.
The only thing he really lacks is breakneck speed, he doesnāt separate by burning and making ridiculous cuts.
I think they should have offered him performance escalators or something as goodwill as the longest tenured Texan. Rick Smith doesnāt want to pay more than he has to though, Watt and Merclius will need new deals before their contracts expire, Clowney is coming and there is other housecleaning like Johnathon Joseph. They got rid of Brock for a reason and they wonāt mind not needing to pay a first and second rounder next year either.
New England lost to the Jaguars. People really need to understand pre-season is warmups and a chance for bubble players to make the roster, teams arenāt out there with their best playcalls trying to light up the scoreboard
After reading the report put out on the Zeke Case I have to sayā¦heās an idiot.
While itās most definitely true that the findings in the report could indeed get him off the suspension due to the INCREDIBLE amount of inconsistencies from all parties involved making damn near everything unreliable as evidenceā¦there is absolutely no way that his personal PR will recover. It just ended up showing that both persons involved are likely just terrible people.
He may ultimately win the suspension battle due to the evidence provided (and in my personal opinion, most likely should due to the unreliable nature of the potential victim and witnesses on top of himself making it impossible to truly assuage what went on), or lack thereof in this case, but heās pretty much going to lose the war in the court of public opinion. I donāt think he realizes just how much heās ultimately going to lose from all of this. This isnāt Brady where his reputation pretty much was unchanged, deflating footballs while hilarious and a way to clown him, doesnāt exactly move the needle when it comes to personal opinion. Zeke is just shown to be a shitastic human being even if we were to throw out all potential DV as āfakeā (Iāll leave that to you guys to decide on your own).
I think even the Cowboys wouldāve been perturbed by some of this but it doesnāt really right now. Theyāll look bad no matter what stance they take at this point. Especially since that by letter of the law, he canāt really be convicted of any actual crime due to again, the unreliable nature of the testimony, witnesses and evidence.
If they cut him, punish him personally or just otherwise withdraw support, they basically condemn the rest of his career. If the Cowboys wonāt even back a talented young player due to behavior issues, obviously who else would? But if they keep going, they look as they have. As a team that only cares about personal conduct when the player involved isnāt very good.
Yeah, I was in a 10 team draft last night. Other than my Pick 1 Gaffe (goddamn it, I wanted Ajayi, not Fournette!) I found drafting a RB2 ESPECIALLY hard. With the combination of suspensions, down years, and more usage of Running Back by Committee, itās immensely difficult to find a good RB tandem. You canāt even reliably go RB/RB in your first two picks to alleviate this, since after 10-12 picks, usually the rest of the available RBs would be reaches if they went early.
yea, thats why i just go WR WR and if there is like a gurley or something in round 3, get him, if not i go for another WR, cause honestly after the first 5-7 backs, the rest are a toss up.
edit:
seattle getting sheldon richardsonā¦they are going to be nasty on Def.
Heās a RB. Heās not a long-term plan, they just plan to burn him out for max yardage over his 5 years. Itās the life of a RB. Zeke wonāt play forever and his best years will be the next few while the Cowboys have their OLine intact.
Sweet, we got Sheldon Richardson from the Jets for Jermaine Curse & 2nd round pick. We also swap 7th rounders. Its a win win for the Seahawks. If he walks next season we get at least a 3round compensation pick. We also free up our WR position as there was a good chance Kearse wasnāt going to make the team anyway.
I remember when Grimes was realeased and I wanted Tampa to go after him ASAP because he helped a major need. Well its time to repeat with Ward. Safety is our worse position and this caliber is what we need. Depending on cost this seems like a easy attempt to grab.
