The Texans cut Nick Novak after extending him earlier in the off-seasons. It was purely cost, Kaimi Fairbairn was cheaper for approximately he same performance. Novak won’t be out of work long, he doesn’t have an over 50 leg but he’s accurate. Definitely better than what some teams have at kicker.
Brandon Weeden also lost his job (lol). It would not surprise me in the slightest if the Jets brought him in.
Yeah that is a shocker as a Saints fan. This season is already being cruel to teams. Look at all the high profile injuries as well. This year is about to get grimey. I expect a lot of early signings as it seem this year is gonna have a lot of injuries. At least if it keeps trending this way with what I have seen.
I was mildly surprised by the Chiefs cutting Spiller. Probably didn’t want to spend that much on a third-string back when they can find same production for cheaper. That seems to be the Chiefs’ MO when it comes to signing and cutting guys.
Also, who needs running backs when Mahomes takes over and unleashes big dick throws that set opposing teams’ fields on fire
Damn, I maybe the only Texans fan that actually liked Weeden as a safety net back up. I know if (most likely ‘when’ given the injury history of Savage and the current state of the offensive line)stuff goes sour, we will go to Watson but I really had high hopes for Weeden.
Meanwhile, Duane Brown is still a freaking mystery.
Well in fairness the Browns never really wanted Osweiler either. They just wanted the draft pick he was attached to. It’s quite likely he would’ve gotten cut regardless but they had to make it look legitimate.
Weeden will probably still be a FA or a similar journeyman would be ready to step in if we did lose a QB. It’s not too bad. I think we should maybe get a practice squad QB to learn our system just incase though.
I think I should have Jason Licht’s job because its this easy. Now 2/2 on my easy pick up calls. Was so happy to wake up to a Bucs got Ward notification, would of been happy they at least called. Now if someone releases a right tackle that would be my next call for “need” not that Dotson is terrible just average. Also a left guard or center so Marpet could move to left guard but lets be real I am jut getting greedy at that point.
I love that Tampa is now at this spot as a franchise where they can land good players without shelling out to much $ because players know they join a “contender”.
Seriously Tampa/Oakland/Eagles/Titans should what these other abyss teams look at to turn it all around: Jags,Bears,Bills,Rams come to mind.
Jets are doing it right and just going back to square one and the Browns,49ers are also doing it the right way by just taking it slow and drafting well and getting one player at a time and not force buying players for the sake of buying them. Those teams will be the Bucs/Raiders/Titans/Eagles in 3 years.
Man that HAS to be awkward for more Brock, I mean he never really went after the Broncos himself but more then a few of the players and front office people went after him.
Just got finished with my work’s FF draft. I’d say I got a pretty good haul.

Reserves

Most of my co-workers decided to go QB and WR first because “RBs always get injured.” I took a huge risk leaving Brees until the 3rd Round but as you can see it paid off. Now to wait until the season starts and as Swordsnan says “take their rings.”
