The 2014 Black Friday/Cyber Monday Thread: Don't get stomped please

Looking at laptops for the folks…and I guess some movies and games for me.

Probably look out for a new console…maybe.

Amazon has their countdown to Black Friday sale in electronics. A few TVs and stuff. I am mainly looking for a Wii U or 3DS deal.

Yeah, working Black Friday was sooooo wack. I remember the security guard asked me to help him because some dude went full retard and stocked his cart full of random electronics and tried to walk right out the store without paying. He figured everyone would be distracted with the long ass lines. I won’t go out on those days unless it is for something that I really want and can’t get online cheaper.

*No problem man. I hope the 240’s suit your needs so it doesn’t feel like you have to upgrade to the 700x.

I actually need a new laptop. I’m long long overdue. *

@IWinAlot‌ it was a Kingston. Dunno the actual model tho but it’s always on sale at Newegg.

All this SSD talk is making me think of getting one.

Just looking to build a gaming PC and maybe another on the side with less power but can blend in on a entertainment stand. A re-up on a PS+ and XBL Gold would be nice too.

I wound up canceling my order because it still didn’t ship yet, and I figured I’d buy them in store. I found the 240s for $99, and they wouldn’t price match with that amazon seller. So what I’ll wind up doing is getting the 700xs after all, I’ll give it a few more days to hopefully see a Black Friday price drop of some sort. The place I went to didn’t have them, and everything was more expensive than online anyway. I think for this type of stuff you really have to order online, stores are bad at ordering these days and always charge more. I guess a decade ago that didn’t matter and we just didn’t know better, but times have changed.

I’ll spend more than twice as much, but I wouldn’t need to upgrade or anything down the line.

I’ve been wondering if employees still do that shit where they stash tickets for their friends in electronics stores like Best Buy.

I intend to just build a whole new PC from scratch.
Only sticklers is obviously going to be the SSD and the video card.

I wish. When I worked there, we were the last to get dibs on anything. Especially since we had an employee discount as well…I remember the year the Wii came out, that was like probably the worst year. You had cats traveling three hours to buy a Wii. Luckily I made a lot of extra cash that season as well. Because I worked in the electronics section, I would get calls asking if we could hold em (which we couldn’t). But I also knew how many we had on hand, so one guy offered me $50 to hold him a system. Needless to say I made it happen.

Are there any sites that tend to have good deals on computer chairs? I’ve been sitting on a cheap ass exploder for over a year now. I want a nice chair but I’m not spending 400+ bucks for one.

Any arcade stick deals that go on usually for black friday? Im waiting to see if Hori will maybe have a small discount on its site.

Why the hell would you spend $400+?
Heck, waay earlier in the year I got myself an awesome leather cushioned office chair for only $100 bucks from OfficeMax.

Yeah, that’s the way to go, cause I know they do deals year round (and probably guaranteed for something around the Black Friday mess). Check out Office Depot and OfficeMax when it comes time for the sales ads to show up.

When I was getting my Master’s I was team lead over electronics, toys and seasonal for about 3 straight years. Black Friday is the worst after quitting Target I barely even go to retail stores at all.

It’s either shop online or nothing at all, I was at a Target about 3 weeks ago and it felt like I was suffering from PTSD.

My first job in high school was working in the toy department of Value City during Black Friday/Christmas time. Manager and I almost got into it with customers over some Power Wheels on sale.

Here is an ssd for 44.99 AR for anyone that might be interested.

  • Yeah, I sometimes catch myself feeling the same way. Brick and mortar stores used to actually be able to sell products closer to MSRP and we were none the wiser. Now we expect to get a decent deal on most stuff we buy.

If I’m not mistaken you’re a Knicks fan right? If you live in New York you should give B and H photo/video a try. If I recall correctly they usually try and price match with Amazon. GuitarCenter usually carries the K240’s in stock as well, maybe check and see if they’d be willing to price match.

I prefer to buy local when I can, just like you.*

I feel you on that. I was in Target a few days ago and I just started getting annoyed. People already are wildn out. I may go there this weekend to get some Christmas decorations though.

Y’all shoulda known that shit would get serious. Power Wheels power makes it go, dude.

RockB didn’t want to do this so he can focus on taking all the deals for himself.

Hopefully they’ll have a good deal on a new monitor or PC parts.
