If I had to choose one console generation to raise kids on, it’d be the 16-bit era. So many timeless classics including:

Ya I blame AVGN and Mike for raising prices on a lot of games. Once they showed off some “rare” games, people jumped on it like crazy.
I bought Wild Guns and Demon’s Crest for 30 bucks each back in the day cause I know they were fun. Now they are easy 100 a piece.
Glad I got them when I did, prices are jacked up like crazy cause all the kids that played games when they were young, are now 30 year olds like me with money to throw at them.
Gotta be smart though… If you buying from ebay, Amazon or most sites, you gonna get ripped off.
I bought most of my games from nintendoage cause it’s full of collectors, so you bypass the resellers +150% mark up.
And some games were always expensive, for the past 10 years or so. Earthbound, Mega Man 7 and Mega Man X3, Super Turrican 2 are three games I recall always had a high price around 100+ bucks.
FF6 was selling at Funcoland in the 90s for $100 used…

Sega didn’t make a decent controller until they released the 6 button, and even that controller was a piece of shit compared to the SNES controller. I still have two Propad 6 controllers which were BEAST controllers and could take a beating from hell and keep on going. The OG genesis controller is one of the shittiest controllers ever made.
