The $1000 Tom Cannon Tougeki TvC Bounty

Come on dude, you went as far as neglecting Evo2k8 results (you know? the ones that matter) and to make excuses for Daigo. With little excuses we can argue that Italy owns Evo. That’s just sad. At Evo2k8 US took 4 games, and Japan took one. You may find lots and lots of excuses and what not, but my point is simply that they are not an inherently superior race, like you and Emil seems to believe. That’s obvious when you analyze anything japanese, the economy or whatever, but also obvious when you look at fighting games.

About Evo and japanese, I don’t know the details, but White came once or twice exclusively to play MvC2. Takayuki did the same, and probably Mitsu. They got top 20 a couple times and one even got 9th. That’s from the top of my head, but we may very well have witnessed more japanese players playing MvC2 at Evo than US players playing ST at SBO.

To sum it up, there are MvC2 players in Japan, of course not as many as in US, and US always owned every single versus game out there (possible exception is Canada for XSF, but not Japan).

Japan has a good advantage at SBO because it is pre-set that will be around 30 japanese players and just one american. US has a good chance at Evo because not all japanese players will be there. Evo is also more fair IMO (no single game single elim bullshit).

I’m not saying that Japan WILL lose. My point is they’re people, just people. Emil doesn’t get it. Maybe you will

huh? anyone with half a brain can find the evo2k8 results if they want anyways, plus to be honest, if you go into the evo thread, i posted all the way up to 2k8, i just didnt copy and paste the shit in this one, and i didnt feel like editing it, because i didnt think it was that big a deal.

what are you talking about. im not dick riding japan, and never have. my mere contribution to the tvc forum should indicate my interest in u.s players getting good at the game. i never said we couldnt beat them at shit, and never said they are gods at everything and we suck, but to ignore the facts is just plain fucking stupid. even 5star, who went to japan for sbo last year for third strike, was just in awe in his interview with gootecks, at the level of skill of the players there. i suggest you download the interview and listen.

son, you need to come more correct than this before you try to lump me into the barrel of japanese dick riders, because you obviously aint reading and comprehending my shit right. i dont have any words on japanese economy, and anything in relation. you talkin about some other shit not in relation really.

i agree we are mad nice in vs games, but i have yet to read any solid evidence that we should be picking on japan for not being able to dominate, or be good at vs games. i would vote that there is none, other than a lack of scene for vs games in comparison to the u.s. you cant say someone sucks at something that they dont even really play, or have ever really played with any serious thought of being competitive in it.

word up. well, real quickly, just losing a tournament doesnt mean that we suck anyways. thats just games. most of the time you will find people might not do well in a tournament, and you hear how they were raping through people in casuals though. i should make a thread to compile a list of who was raping who in casuals over the past few years in tournaments around the u.s.

so i agree its going to be a hard uphill battle to take that spot, but my post in this thread have only been directed to anyone assuming japan will fall to their knees to us, the “vs games gods”, when we go to japan to play casuals, and enter in sbo for tvc. i just dont see that at all, and its laughable to believe such, but time will tell for the asian haters.

son, there is nothing for me to get. the facts are this, they have a stronger arcade scene then we do, they have stronger daily competition than we do, and they take their shit more seriously than we generally do. thats why japan is filled with excellent players, period. we have excellent players that can compete with japanese players, but overall, they still find themselves scratchin their heads when they aint rackin in stupid winning streaks against them in games, like they would back home.

yo, check out 5stars interview for real. about 45 minutes in is when he discusses his experiences in japan, and a few thoughts on japanese players and american players when it comes to 3s, but besides 3s, their overall gaming rituals are serious business. he said dudes was playing in the arcade, and then sleeping in the arcade, waking up, and going back to playing again. like, dudes is mad serious about being nice in whatever it is they play over there.

no matter how much people want to hate, its not dick riding when you’re just acknowledging the skill level of your opponent. its dick riding when its us vs japan, and you cant get a japanese cock out your mouth to save your life, and try to root for your friend. its dick riding if your trolling threads and any time someone mentions 3s, you say we cant beat japan, we suck, blah blah. thats dick riding. im just mentioning the facts, and making sure cats stay sharp on the game, and dont think its gonna be any kind of pushover shit in tvc in japan.

oh, and evo results are just results. i would have to do more research to get more details behind the players that came, that entered, how well they did overall while they were here (casuals and shit), etc… im not talkin about just japanese players, im talking about overall.

i dont actually want to spend a lot of time just trying to prove japan is competitive in fighting games. i think there is no need to do 2 hours of researching, copying and pasting, to know that. so i probably wont ever compile any detailed info on the who, what, when, where, why, how.

so did justin win sbo yet?

Big news. Japan owns Third Strike. Next you’ll say that US owns Marvel I guess.

I never said that, or disagreed with what you just posted. What I say is that believing that somebody will win right off the bat because they are simply superior its plain stupid, no matter which side you’re rooting for.

Agreed. That’s just my point, with countries changed. Japan haters and dickriders are pretty much the same when it comes to ignoring common sense, except for the fact that they root for different flags.

I got it. They play a lot. My point is that results are more important than how much time you spend with the game. John Choi barely plays, and owned not only Japan but US players who play a lot as well last year in 2 games.

True.

stumbled onto another is someone japan hating and does the other party have a hard on for japan discussion i see. as someone living in japan and spending a good amount of time in game centers i can say this: i think i’ve seen mvc2 twice in 3 and a half years here. so yeah they don’t play versus games. nobody knows what the hell the x men are. why would they play? how big of a hokuto no ken following is there in the states? having said that when tvc was released it got quite a bit of play, mostly with tatsunoko characters from what i saw. guess dudes felt some nostalgia and peeped what the game had to offer. a month or so later i hardly see anybody playing it. so yeah looks like maybe japan still doesn’t play versus games. people are still too hype about sf4 and then t6br just dropped like 2 weeks after tvc. so here i am in beautiful nagoya japan playing tvc at home on my wii with an american friend. and playing the shit out of sf4 and t6br in arcades.

cool beans. free money at sbo. i wish i had t6br here though. i would lose my life playing sf4, tvc, and t6br. christ. one at a time. aaaaaaaaaah

lol those vids were bad XD

No, it’s people like you that tries to make superior players look like they are nothing special, to make yourself feel better. And in my initial post, my point was clear - there is nothing in particular about TvC’s game engine that would put the Japanese at a disadvantage. If anything, it’s the opposite.

Too many people cry when they see the best players getting the props they deserve, and know that they (or their nationality) aren’t the ones getting those props.

With the recent release of Kubo and Gian matches, it’s pretty clear US is not going to win this unless THEY go down to Japan and practice there non-stop, especially if they have to fight someone like Kubo.

Get reality checks please, this “pride for our nationality” thing is getting old.

emil is a terrorist…anal terrorist.

not to hate or dick ride but all these new fighters and so much new talent…can we please stop dick riding wong and seeing this guy like goku to save the day from the evil japanese Saiyan at sbo. no disrespect to him and he is good but he isnt god how about we all try to be the best at it and not all just give up and put all our hope on wong. thats what im getting from this thread.oh lets just give up and let wong do it, ppl might as well just him there money at tournys then if ppl start feeling like that.lots of ppl i have came across and im not saying everyone is like this are like well i want to get or be good but i dont want to put the time into it. wong is to good i just want to be alright or dont care about being good, they just want to play and be trash at it(button mash).make excuses like its to late for me or want to do there own thing and dont get any better. you all know what im talking about that one guy you will play hundreds of times and he never catchs on to what your doing cause you tell him over and over what to do but his repond to it is,“naw i seen what you was doing but i was trying to do…”. ppl have to have that drive japan has to get better and better.japan has lots of wongs not just one like we do. whoever wins much respect to you

I agree with that actually. Wong is just a man. He makes mistakes like the rest of us, and is beatable. At some point he was a scrub like anyone else. He’s just showed dedication to fighting games and fought long and hard to get where he is.

So stop trying to be like him, be yourself, be better. Every king falls at some point, and every legend is replaced by another at some point. You just have to work hard.

I’ve been playing fighting games competitively now for 6 years and I’m still not at his level. I’ve got a long way to go, but I’m still gonna try to get there one day. I suggest everyone else do the same and quit idolizing. As said, the man’s not goku, you don’t have to hand him your spirit for the spirit bomb. Others could win SBO as well. Granted considering Japan and their abundance of competition, I don’t believe America will ever beat them in it’s current state. But, with the right environment to foster players, I think it could be done one day.

i can do what kubo did wit karas in those vids against gian. so what are you saying?:confused:yea kubo and gian are good but we can do this. we just need to get on it and stop fucking around.

well said:china:

true. i did it in picking up karas for the first time, in like 30 minutes. lol. kubo aint doin nothing special. we been doin funky chun shit, and ryu shit for a minute too. our downfall would just be exposure to more characters, and against people that really know how to play them. but the game is fairly simple to understand, so as long as we can at least have some good videos for reference points, we should be able to at least have an idea of what to expect from like a top doronjo player, or top roll player.

also, a lot of our top players have not released anything new in a while. people are leveling up, and sinsation will show some good stuff. plus tvc is invitational only at evo, so people are going to have to step up to even be invited at a possible chance at top 8 for evo.

and if you dont have a lot of people around you for tvc, you should be studying a lot of videos, and learning as many characters as you can, just so you can be aware of their bullshit to some degree. mostly just reading the forums consistently and watching as many videos as possible, should at least prep you a bit. for new players, yeah, consistent comp is what you need to get rid of the tournament jitters and shit, but at least make yourself aware.

Yeah Kubo is just a good player, anyone can do the combos. I imagine hitting him / not falling for the dash mix ups is the hard part.

You don’t see stuff like good blocking and movement in videos so much as playing a person, but they make a huge difference.

i did like a hundred hit combo wit karas and it didnt take long at all after seeing that vid.lol i wish i could make sinsations but hopfully i can do well enough at FR for something.are you going to FR??

Bet it.

U.S. will run Evo like we ran that last one. Oh, that didn’t count, because of Choi’s “asian blood”

SBO is harder because while we allow any amount of japanese players to play Evo, they’ll probably just allow one spot for US at their tournament. Even with those 31 to 1 odds, I think you should wait before babbling, or you should bet it!

And this isn’t nationality pride. Is aversion to your dick riding. IMO, anybody can win, even with we aren’t part of the allmighty superior japanese race.

Please stop bringing up nationality in these discussions. This isn’t the 100 meter dash or basketball, it’s a frickin’ video game.

IMO it’s a safe bet to offer the prize to an ocidental.

I don’t know why the heck are the japanese so good at games, they just are…

For instance, when you’re up against someone who plays like this:

You just hold the urge to cry(or cry like a girl) and go home, because you’ll be owned in seconds :stuck_out_tongue:
