That's So Raven -- The Raven Combo Thread

This is going to be a comprehensive Raven combo thread. I want each combo to include notation as well as the damage. If a combo is situational i.e. counter hit or anti-air, I want that information as well. I’ll try my best to update this thread twice a week, but at least once. Start posting stuff and I’ll start compiling the combos. I’ll also list out interesting normals–like if a normal causes a juggle state on counter hit.

Also, my Brady guide should come in the mail next week from Amazon. I’ll list what it says about Raven.

There are some interesting Raven/Akuma setups in this video as well.

I’ve finally decided what I’m going to put here. This will be the general advice regarding Raven. You’ll understand more of what I mean once I start putting stuff here, but there is some interesting information in a lot of these posts that I will put here. I will start to do this stuff Thursday (3/22) as I have 3 tests between now and next Thursday and one more the following week. It’s getting towards the end of the semester, so please be patient.

For the most part yes. One of the reserved posts will be for impractical, style combos. The third reserve is yet to be determined. It’ll probably be the videos covering most of the combos.

Sounds gravy. Haha a lot of the practical combos are pretty fancy, for now anyways, but that’s because everyone is still used to seeing sf4 combos.

If you add a cr. lp before the cr. mk you get 2 more damage, and I also find it easier to land.

A ton of those combos aren’t even close to optimized, but its a good start. Keep up the good work and keep this updated =P

I’ve been in the Raven lab for the past couple of days and I can say with confidence these are close to max damage, if not max damage for him. This was the most practical application I could find for his wind cross dash cancels. The only problem with them is that they take finesse to do in a real match and it can also screw you over at times and you could end up behind the character (you’ll see in the tag portion of the video how I corrected the motion as soon as that happened) and sometimes you can’t continue the combo. That’s why I included a more basic version that still does good damage.

The tag combo was kept short on purpose due to damage scaling depending on how you entered tag. This was the best consistent combo/damage I could find when scaling became a factor.

Most combos here so far are raw, off no confirm. His specials are mad punishable keep in mind

Here are his notable hitconfirms. The first one will be the most important, it starts off a low and works consistently at max jab range on standers and crouchers (I’ve had b+MK whiff at max jab range on occasion). Some of the links are fairly tight

When you charge his wind cross special and dash cancel the animation. The motion is just :qcb::p:[hold] :f::f:

I just started labbing raven tonight, so much potential here.

Not sure if this has been posted but I just started using it for my basic bnb at mid screen.

Does 303 damage off of a very easy cr. lp to cr. lp hit confirm.
its easy as hell to do once you get the timing down on the cr. lk into cr. hp… its just delayed longer then you would think. Looks so fucking flashy too.

You gotta utilize wind cross dash cancels though if you want something better.

yeah I just noticed that in the combo spoiler, I am disappoint. I was running hugo and ogre, but got sick of it and jumped in the lab with raven completely out of the know. I thought it was the coolest looking combo ever so I had to post it. So raven has great keep away a teleport and amazing damage… I was having so much fun with him, now I’m gonna look like a tier whore.

The wind cross dash cancel is a little tricky, for me anyways. Any drills i can run in training to help myself get familiarized with it?

Do cr. fierce and immediately afterwards do qcb then hit mp or lp which ever you prefer, and dash/ repeat

Now I know we are in the first week and we’re all trying to be practical here.

But with time and practice, how much practical do you guys think will be extending these combos with the full loop and not only 2 reps?

Like, with 4 reps we can still juggle and with 5 reps we can’t juggle not even his super, right?

Or is this like Fuerte’s RSF where there is a point when DamageXRisk isn’t viable anymore? Like, for ex, fuerte should be linking 4 fierces into roundhouse most of the time. He can do more to be flashy but it’s simply not worth it due to scaling. Do you guys think raven’s loops will be the same?
