If you’re flying down here only for SNK games, you shouldn’t expect more than 10 people total. We’re still working out equipment issues before we’re able to put out a complete lineup.
Great finally some news about it. Well if you make this official an let everybody about it, may be more people will show up. So if you go ahead put a time and date to this more people will start to take it serious. Regarding equipment i might be able to take KOF02, GAROU.
We’ve advertised KoF2k2 and KoF2k3 in the past Showdown’s. The turnout is pretty low regardless, I’m seriously doubting you’ll pull in over 15 unless you’re planning on bringing 15 from your area. I’m not being mean, just honest. We’re probably going to hold KoF and Garou, but as of now it remains to be seen. We were hoping for somebody to help us out in terms of SNK equipment, but he decided to attend to other events. In the meantime, we’re committed to running the tournaments we have already stated. In my first post on this thread I said SNK games were in the “possible” games group. I’m telling you guys, we had about 12 people enter last year, and not enough to hold a tournament the year before. And that was with people from out of town entering. Houston in general has few SNK players, numbers in Texas aren’t big at all. If you 2 are coming to Tx Showdown specifically for SNK games, you’re wasting your time. Now if you are planning on entering other games, and just want to be able to compete in some SNK games, then we might be able to accomplish that. But don’t get your hopes up, numbers have been pretty bad for that game down here.
Ho well if its needed I’ll take my DC with GAROU and 02. It seams that you guys are not really putting a lot of work in to it, thats cool I’ll guess I’m just going to have to wait to see if you guys are really gonna do this. I thought that San Antonio had a small KOF community I guess I was wrong SoCal is the only place in the US where TRUE KOF players still live. I would not mind joining a 20 man tourney, and Im also pretty sure that if you advertise this more you would get a bigger turn out. Also I remember that KINDEVU joined the KOF tourney we had at evo.
SNK games are at the bottom of the list. There simply isn’t a lot of demand for it, thats why it’s omitted at most major tournaments. If everything else works out first, if there’s still enough time/space left, proper equipment and somebody willing to run a 15-man tourney in the midst of the major games then I guess it is possible to organize something for it. If the turnout is crappy, there will be an unnecessary burden placed on the people that run this shit and that might negatively affect the rest of the tournament. That’s is just my two cents anyway…
Well if I went to a 5 man tourney to Florida 15 sounds good. I’m up for it if its really going to happen just please let me know.

Whats that i hear san antonio what no way dude if they do put up kof in the ts5 it won’t be just 1,2,3 ppl going your talking about atleast 20 players in the san an community that play that game every freakin weekend and it gets sicker every weekend. if they do manage to put any snk games for ts5 expect alot of us to go especially me haha well till then see u guys.
I have a question. I was reading the rules and it says Akuma is baned in ST. Hwoever no montion of Kliff and justice for GG2X. So I take it that they are legal for play then?

Cliff and Justice, as well as EX and gold characters, hell any character that is not in the regular lineup, to my knowledge, has never been allowed in major tournament play unless is was specifically told that tournament allowed it.

Although there are some people who play SNK games in Texas, the past 2 years, nobody has shown up, and thats with front page advertisement on SRK. If people show up this year, great, it would be the first time ever that I didn’t have to consider cancelling it because only 8 or 9 people showed up. Bottom line, talk is cheap, I’ve had people saying they would show up if I put it in the past 2 years. Only thing I’ve done is refund back people’s money because they didn’t show. Posting on here does me no good unless that name gets put on the bracket. I will state this to everybody wanting SNK games, because I am actually getting sick of this. If I have to cancel the SNK games again, because of lack of attendance, Texas Showdown will NEVER endorse or officially hold another SNK event again. Don’t take this as a personal attack on you, it just happens that this post struck a nerve. This is for everybody who asked for SNK games the past 3 years, show up, put your money where your mouths are.

Damn fuckig right, everydoby who has ever cared for an official SNK tourney this is your chance. We are going all the way from Cali to show that we care. If you are going to attend TS5, play SNK games join atleast to support specially if you live in TX. You should not have an excuse, cause been there so close and not going would be enbarresing. Dont be scared that nobody is going to show up cause there will defently be more people interesed.
I agree withe RANMA that if nobody shows up this year there will never another SNK tourney in TS, cause this show how much the rest of the US cares about this games. It can be the rebirth of the snk community, or the death.
I don’t actually play SNK games but I’ll try to join one of the SNK tournaments anyhow just to increase the numbers…
