I got a direct link to what Vesper said about the black list feature a month ago. I’ll mention him @VesperArcade even though he most likely doesn’t come here much.
Basically says using the feature removes the opponent from your friends list, they can’t receive invitations and you can’t enter their lobbies even if it’s password protected. Though he says if both players blacklisted each other and somehow are still in a lobby, it will still let them play or something to that effect. Says he’s not sure about ranked matches.
I think this is a pretty controversial feature to implement as it can technically allow you to cherry pick people in ranked or casual modes and just not play them because you’re salty or they’re using a bad matchup for your character. When the beta launches I’d like people to test this and see if it works in all network modes and how many people you can black list (if it’s a large amount or infinite?)
Yeah, I think it’s one of the dumbest things to put in this game. The number of players is quite small as is. Adding this feature will result in fewer matches found after some longer waiting time.
Yeah the only thing I couldn’t test was ranked match black lists because everyone was in lobbies. Capcom mentioned with the new matchmaking that you will be less likely to rematch people in general so that makes it even harder to test.
True. The only thing I noticed is that later into the beta that I wasn’t getting many requests to fight, but I remember from your video that like you said, I figured it was because just not a lot of people wanted to play ranked or casuals during the beta. Maybe a lot of them were just in the lounges.
Well basically I’m going to do the same thing either way which is test it by just seeing how big of a black list I can make. If there’s no limit and I can just rack up a 100 - 200 list of players for a blacklist, then I dunno how well this is gonna go.
It’s great for people with shitty behavior. Everyone can blacklist them and soon they have no one to play. They either act like normal human beings or they don’t get to play anymore.
It’s great for scrubs who cry about matchups. Someone blocks you because you use a strong character. Great! They are a waste of time to play anyway and so now they have removed themselves from your rotation. You can focus on playing people who actually want to improve while those guys use their blacklist incorrectly and never improve.
This assumes that it works in ranked too (it needs to, I think).
This should’ve been a feature in 3SOE. We could’ve blacklisted ufcgym and XBL 3s ranked would’ve lasted another 3 years.
I play from Turkey and all I get matched up are people from the Netherlands, the UK, Sweden and rarely Spain. Imagine the outcome for me if this shitty feature gets in.
and I cannot imagine that it will. It would make ranked really pointless.
Might as well include an Option that only “Characters xy” can appear in Ranked matches.
except the playerbase is small as it is
it’s already taking a while to find matches
you want to make it take even longer?
You can’t hear them cry about matchups since there’s no voice or text chat
The ONLY benefit I can see is blacklisting really really laggy players
Other than that there are no other benefits
You certain? That’s what I’ve been trying to make sense of.
Although it makes sense if Vesper said you could technically play people in a lounge still if they’re blacklisted
If it’s simply to block them from sending you invites then it seems like a waste other than someone that’s spamming invites. At least that would ensure that you can play people in ranked and casual despite them blacklisting you if that’s the case
Just blacklisted my first dude. A ragequitter named mashiso. We both had 5% hp and he mashed out a super that I blocked, then just as I’m going to punish for the win, he disconnects. Very obvious RQ.
I’m glad I have a blacklist now to add that fucker and also the people that lag.
