I’m just kidding about the 100 tho cause i know nobody is gonna do it here but with the right comp and time to practice again and get back into it i would gladly mm for 100 in either game vs anyone that wants it. Next time i go to nashville which will be soon actually i’ll stop by the arcade so we can get some games in both 3s and st so you can help me level up. Lack of serious comp is really killing my desire to play or even get better here which is why i can’t wait to move.

If I’m not mistaken this now makes 8 fight night regulars with a full EVO monitor setup. This is enough to run a tourney, methinks…preparations must be made.

You can’t seriously tell me there is no comp for Marvel here when Majin decides to randomly show up, play in the ranbat and win it? If you are going to say there is no comp in a city for you in a certain game, it better damn well be an accurate statement.
Hold your vagina for a second… I’m pretty sure he’s saying that the comp level has dropped off from what it once was due to lack of interest in the game dropping (at least I think that’s the case)… We have a decent scene for it, actually pretty good, if people really want to get good… but it’s all up to us as a whole, not just one or two people… There’s a big difference between general competition, and people that take the game serious…
If that’s what was meant, that’s what should have been said. There have been several posts over the last couple of threads lamenting the lack of serious comp here in whatever game.
My opinion is simply that if you are going to complain about lack of comp, then what happened last Marvel ranbat? This isn’t directed at you Squabb, but if someone is going to complain about the lack of competition, then he had better be best in Memphis. Plus, if you are best in Memphis, and you want the comp level to rise, then help your fellow players.
That last part is more of an organizational thing. it’s hard to have real training sessions at fight nights or gatherings. Which is another reason i think everyone who is involved in the scene needs to sit down together and discuss where they want the scene to go.

For starters, it is 3 of the top 4 in Marvel saying this, so I would consider that to be “best in Memphis”… I wish there was more SF comp here, I mean realistically we have like 5 people that REALLY play the game anymore, and that’s dropping… The exact same thing is happening with Marvel, so I can see where they are coming from…
Yes, training at fight nights you can pretty much forget about now because of how big it is now… However, gatherings are a different story… you can definitely get training sessions in, people just need to bring the setups… Plus, why does it have to be a gathering or fight night to get a training session in?! I’ve played with numerous regulars just randomly one night, and guess what, those are 100x better and more informative than any gathering or fight night… all you have to do is call someone… IMO, the scene is going how it should… on its own and growing without any forcefulness… what do we need to sit and discuss?
“…and you want comp level to rise, then help your fellow players.” – This holds true to an extent. I can’t tell you how much Bishop has helped me in Tekken, Jas/Bishop in Marvel, and Anthony/Sev/O in SF… but guess what… There’s only so much they can help with before the ball is in your court and YOU need to hold up your end of the work…
