Tennessee Thread - Where mixups are cheating

NeoBlood: I’ve made crazy tournament drives…trust me, you DON"T want to do 36 hours to Vegas…I drove Los Angeles to Chicago for MWC once and it’s a once in a lifetime thing but my goodness it is tiring…I’m doing 20 hours next week to New Hampshire just to go to an arcade I’ve been to before and I am not looking forward to that drive =P

depends on how much you want to spend. i was checking that out and didnt see the PSU wattage. my old computer had an EVGA 8800 GT and that ran most stuff fine but couldnt play the newest games on the highest settings. They are discontinued but you can get em on ebay cheap. Now I have a 460 GTX and that runs everything great but its a bit more expensive and you’d have to see if your PSU could handle it. But it really just depends on budget.

I would recommend a psu with at least 700w running at 80amps or greater. I blew a cheap psu not knowing any better with my old setup which used a 9800gtx+. Amps are very important when looking into a psu.

As far as video cards are concerned, you’re going to have issues finding something that won’t bottleneck with that older hardware. Even with a monster video card it’s not going to matter all that much with a 1.8x4 processor. You’ll definitely be able to play anything that’s coming out in the next year or two on that machine but it will not be on high settings.

Another small issue you’ll have with that machine is that HP has the hardware bios locked so overclocking won’t be an option unless you know somebody who can flash the motherboard.

If you have any other questions you want to ask let me know. I’m not a guru, but I’m pretty well versed in the world of computers.

Edit: I’ve actually got an NVIDIA 9800gt that was installed in Tabitha’s comp sitting around in my basement I’d be willing to part with for cheap. It was making a high pitched whistle that was driving me ape shit so I swapped it with my gtx+ when I got my new computer with the 5750.

Edit #2: There’s a program called AMD Fusion that does a software overclock. I would severely recommend this to anybody with an HP computer with an AMD processor. It’s a little hard to find now so I’ll have to get my brother to email the copy of the installer I put on his computer. It took my FPS in Aion from 15-20 to 45-60. The computer I was using was very similar to yours, except I had 2.2x4 ghz,8GB of RAM and the 9800gtx+.

Luis, hit me up on FB or AIM about that video card

I’m ready for fight night

^^Best deal I saw. Anything good under $150 is dirt cheap. When I build computers I usually have a $400 budget just for Graphics card(s).

You’re probably gonna have to upgrade the PSU no matter what u get since manufactorers normally supply the bare minimum.

Something you won’t think about is measuring the distance from the PCI express slot to the nearest impediment. 12 inches from the base of the slot to the front of the PC is usually large enough. Usually.

It’s generally not wise to skimp on the quality of a PSU. Heads up.

yeah i like playing scout the only problem is that no one will play heavy or medic and the team usually needs one of each.

My stick was inadvertently left at GG during MWC, was found by Milln, and is now in Murfreesboro. I’m trying to arrange getting it back; I’m coming to the tourney at Rivergate on Saturday. Is anyone coming to Rivergate from there? I’ll buy lunch for whoever can get it back to me.

Shawn, woot, etc (monitor/tv gurus):

I am looking to replace my 22 inch monitor with hopefully something around the 42-47 inch range. I know they dont make monitors that big and would have to get an HDTV, so my best choice is to wait for black friday to get a good deal. Are there any downsides to using an HDTV as a computer monitor (ghosting/lag)? I use a 42’’ at work to edit on, but I am not gaming on it so its a different story. I would use it for gaming on pc/video editing/media center/console gaming. Are there any you guys like or use? And would hooking it up with just the VGA cables be ok, or would I need hdmi to reduce lag and get a better picture quality?

Thanks in advanced, I am not very knowledgeable on this subject.

Edit: And I dont mean to turn this into a tech thread, I just trust your guys opinions/knowledge more than a few amazon reviews from “competitive” call of duty players…

Just to remind everyone we have Gvegas beatdown this weekend and it is looking awesome almost 60 people preregistered for our 3000sq ft venue! i am also planning on a ton of locals comming that didnt preregister as i handed out over 1000 flyers in the upstate. Yes.

Jake and pat - I’ll be by GG as well if you guys are still there when I get off at 6. I’ll head straight there after work.

So now Floe is sponsored huh? Man, I really need to relocate.

Or travel to more majors?

I mean, that’s how it worked out for Michelangelo.

Yeah. I still need more training though.

Welp, here we go. Maybe I like watching blu-ray movies on component cables. It allows me to split the stereo audio off and hook it up to an older 5 speaker Stereo Surround system I have. Thanks Sony.

Isn’t that argument irrelevant anyway? Doesn’t matter how you hook up your console to your tv, you’ll still have an audio out coming from any television made in the last 10 years.

Stop being a poop butt Richard.

Time to send the PS3 HDMI through a receiver first…

Lol @ stereo cables being sent to 5 speaker system.
