Tennessee Thread-" Where All of Your Friends Get Killed by Death-Adder" "

 Must be a slow day at the office today

Random question. I was watching the Spooky stream last night, and I kept noticing something that was bothering me.

Why do people with Phoenix teams continue to sit on 5 bars when they have two, or even three, characters? By just sitting on the 5 bars, they aren’t gaining any more meter. So, they should do one of two things:

  1. Go ahead and use a super in a combo if it will lead to a kill. Why try to rely on one more opening when you can go ahead and get the kill?
  2. Immediately switch to Phoenix. This can be risky if the opponent has a character that can chip D.P. before she touches the ground, but probably more than 90% of the time, she would be fine.

I just think it’s dumb to sit on 5 meters for 50+ seconds…

You gotta admit that when he used the word ā€œShitcanā€ it made you chuckle lol.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift II DLC update patch details Neo Empire!

Josh if thats you with the troll account, you will have more than one grudge match in more than one game next week my good sir. If I have to walk to Hasting’s next week, trust, I will be there!

By the way… I can assure you pansies that is not me! I am still trying to find time to write what I have to say! Plus, my jokes would be way better than that!

I dunno why other ā€œPhoenix playersā€ do it either. They’re basically choosin to fight with a handicap. I think it’s really dumb when the phoenix player’s phoenix is a particularly weak phoenix as well. Most importantly though, why do people even let it get to that point? I don’t care if Phoenix does get 5 meters early. Snap her in. Kill Phoenix. Snap in Dark Phoenix. Then kill Dark Phoenix. Phoenix is a freakin joke when you know what to do…unless it’s my Phoenix. lol

To address your two points:

  1. Using meter to kill one character is usually not worth it. A good player will almost always snap in Phoenix at that point and kill her off. Phoenix without five meter can die within seconds at any time. From full health she’s only capable of generating a half a bar of meter when she gets hit, so that’s a big risk that isn’t worth it. However if I catch two characters and can kill them, then I’ll use meter. I’ll also use it if I realize during the match that I do not need Phoenix. Those are typically the only two times.

  2. Most players used to do this. They’d bring out Dark Phoenix, tag her out, and then wait for the other two characters to die. There are HUGE disadvantages to this. A good player will try to tag in Dark Phoenix and take her out before she hits the floor, throw her, chip her to death, or force you into blowing your x-factor. Dark Phoenix getting snapped in has three options: throw-tech and risk getting hit, dash or teleport and risk getting hit, or block and risk getting thrown or chipped to death by an x-factored opponent. They can also try to throw out a j.S, but that is even riskier.

In short, the answer to your question is that a smart player will not bring out Dark Phoenix until they are ready to use her right then. This requires using absolutely no meter until that time. As such, Phoenix players have to rely on two teammates who can do good damage by themselves without meter until you’re ready to use her.

Dark Phoenix by herself is still very vulnerable. She needs level 2 or 3 x-factor to truly be effective, which requires one or two characters to die. Bringing in Dark Phoenix early in a match is not very advantageous, because any character who gets snapped in is at an automatic disadvantage, moreso for Phoenix.

I know for a fact Duckie does this so that he can start using supers with the rest of his team, but I think it’s a matter of, ā€œI don’t want to hard tag in after Dark Phoenix for fear of getting my tag killed.ā€

mr. wootslawdick - good sir, I hear you got a good Bison but nobody wants to play you because you look like a brokeass tom selleck on crack. Come and holla at me when you get some skill and maybe then, I’ll let you play me.

Thanks for the input guys. I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking that sitting on 5 bars for half the match is a big disadvantage.

Thank you for the responses guys, I’m thinking of learning Mags now. Plus, he looks fun as hell. What Duckie said is very true, especially if the Phoenix player tags DPhoenix out once she comes out, but once Dark/ N. Phoenix hits the ground safely it’s a completely different game, and that’s even without x factor. It just depends on your opponent, and if the Phoenix player is confident he can get out of the snap in/ hard tagged. I’ve used all 3 of the methods, and they all have their places, just some more so than others. I do enjoy OCVing some people online with Phoenix alone though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Arson, very true about Wesker. When he’s on a roll he’s just hard as hell to stop, especially with Haggar assist, but with Mags assist it’ll give my team a little more zoning, which I feel like I need. Haggar just plainly gets outzoned against anyone with a decent projectile.

Once again, thank you for the input guys, and hopefully will be able to play some of you soon. It gets pretty boring sometimes with online alone.

Fucking lol. @geedee

Anyway, GGs to Jason and Richard in the ssfiv. I really like playing with you Jason just because you’ll help with the match-ups when I ask about them.

Richard, MM next time we meet.

Marvel: I picked up Wesker last night and I’m really liking Gun OTG to dual hyper attack with dormamu as my 2nd. It’s retarded damage after a short air combo. Teleports are stupid good too.

I have never been complimented so well in my life.

I wonder if anyone also realizes most, if not all, of the teleports in the game are unsafe by themselves. Boomcube told me about Dante’s teleport, if not covered by an assist, you can just S and it’ll hit him out of it. I’ve tried this (or just got hit in match) with Wesker and Phoenix and both of those are also unsafe. I see people getting hit by characters who just naked teleport and still end up hitting the opponent.

Also, read the first bullet point.

Well of course you can pop a teleporter with a S if you know/see it coming, but if not you get touched because you try to hit a button after it’s already too late.

Hey Cylus, Bryce got out of the Dante block string by GA’ing not only the jumping heavy, but the forward heavy as well, which also makes it a Guard advance bait.

Why is it that when adult me plays a game and fails miserably as opposed to young me playing the same game and beating it on one credit, my gut reaction tells me to throw the controller and cuss the fuck out of the TV.

When the hell did I start sucking at SNES platformers?! I used to have this shit on lock. I’m awful now.

Castlevania 4. I could beat it on one life as a kid, I get a game over on level 9 today.
Joe and Mac. Breeze through that game when I was young, today I barely made it past the second level.
Judge Dredd. I could beat it one credit, last night I got a game over on level 2. LEVEL 2.

Maybe I just need to take a break from video games, I get far more angry than pleased at them lately. Christ.

The games aren’t shitty by any means, I don’t buy shitty games. I’m just fucking terrible at them for some reason. Did I like piss someone off and karma is coming back on me or something??

iquick: Ya, I will try and help as much as I can, the best thing that I can do is teach you spacing against everyone, it’s the combos with everyone I don’t really know much about, I just know what works…I’ll try and figure out when I can make it out again, the next place(s) I want to go for their weeklies are Chattanooga and Memphis but Chattanooga uses PS3s only for some weird reason still and Memphis is one of those instances where an entire day is required.

So awesome. Second most played game of my SNES days behind Super Metroid, which is my most played game of always.
