Good shit to everybody at KIT. Great to see everybody. 4th in GGAC+! Yay!? So many missed PBs and I was one hit away from 3rd but it’s cool: I did my favorite combo on stream 
Meh really the only reason I play Marvel is because combos are fun. I can’t play it too seriously because otherwise I’d be suuuuuper frustrated at the inconsistencies across characters. This character can just keep hitting you with no hit stun deterioration while that character can do 2 reps before the deterioration sets in. If you don’t have at least one god tier or S-tier character on your squad, your chances of placing in tournaments diminish to, a lot of the time, single-digit percentages. It’s just hard for me to be serious about a game where there is such a massive schism between top and bottom tier; where certain characters have touch of death combos that require no meter to begin with, can begin from any hit anywhere on the screen, have ridiculous numbers of OTGs and relaunches and don’t require really high level execution unless you just want to be fancy (i.e. magneto, zero, doom), while characters slightly below them on the tier list require specific assist types, specific screen positioning, meter management, and great execution to do any type of damage. I mean if you like playing Mag, Zero, Virgil, Doom, Spencer, Wesker, or Wolvie, then the game is awesome, because you can do whatever you want without worrying. But, Hsien-Ko and Phoenix Wright are all but useless now especially in the face of the aforementioned characters. The game is in desperate need of patching to make mechanics more consistent across characters but I’m not sure that Capcom can even perform a patch that large without releasing yet another disc.
That being said, the game is fun and I’ll play it when asked to, or if it’s being played, but unless I can swallow my pride and pick one of those top-tier characters, none of whom I really like, I won’t get serious about it.

Lol whatever you know he has trouble against all the mosquitos: Zero, Mag, Wesker, Doom, Wolverine. I call them mosquitos because they buzz around you being annoying and hard to hit until they land that one attack that give you Malaria and kills you. If you have characters that can zone like Magneto and Doom, Hulk has a terrible time getting in without an exceptional assist. Zero can just charged buster his way in close, which i still don’t understand why buster goes through st. H when it’s one hit. Hulk can take a bionic arm with st. H but that little blast juggles him out of it? That’s the kind of inconsistency I’m talking about. Hulk is a really good character but in comparison to these other characters that don’t need assists to be effective and are even more stupid with assists, the gap is still huge.
When you look across the room at games like Guilty Gear, Tekken, and KOF (notice how none of these are Capcom games) the skill of the player outweighs the characters being played. Not to say there isn’t some cheese in each of these games, but it’s not to the point of being so overwhelming that the bottom tier has to sell it’s soul to beat the top tier.
I don’t you have to sell your soul but I do think you can’t win with an all mid to bottom team you have to have at least one top character on your team to win imo. Like if you like shuma better have wolverine out front but again a player like royal flush does very well and plays a team that doesn’t have a top character. For Rukus he could play something like wolverine/strange(bolts)/shuma(beam) or deadpool/doom(beam)/ammy(cold star) or hulk/mags/doom whatever but I don’t think he could rock hulk/deadpool/shuma and win
And that’s the problem. I don’t like any of the top tier characters so I would be forced to play characters with ridiculous advantages whether I like the characters or not. Unlike the other games I mentioned where every character or character combination is viable. I’m not taking a game seriously where I can’t just play the characters I like and be comfortable with it. I can’t take a game seriously that the developers don’t seem to take seriously.

You shouldn’t NEED a top character to win, or be viable. But what do I know, I played with Thor and Deadpool too.
